    Even though Atlanta itself has less than 500k residents, Atlanta’s metro population is over 6 million making it the 7th largest metro in the nation. Also Atlanta’s airport not the only major airport serving Atlanta, but also the whole southeast region.

    I actually live on one of the traffic patterns where the planes turn in and line up to the runway for landing. And at about 2500 - 7000 ft is when they usually come by but mostly 3000 ft. But lemme tell ya it is noisy as heck when I'm trying to sleep the planes be like
    "Hey, don't sleep yet..."
    But anyways I like your videos planes come by like every 30 - 45 seconds. Making roaring sounds.

    I work for Delta in Atlanta on the tarmac loading and unloading the aircraft and lemme tell ya...there's always, ALWAYS another flight right after you get done with one. It's always busy, but the summer is when it gets ridiculously busy. I just wish they didn't build the airport in the middle of the only storm band that comes through GA. It seems like it's always raining when I work and take it from me, 8 hours working in the rain really makes me laugh at anything that says it's waterproof lol

    You know, the city of Atlanta (like all large cities) does not just consist of what's inside the city limits. The metropolitan population of greater Atlanta is well over 6 million.

    • @gnnascarfan2410
      @gnnascarfan2410 2 місяці тому

      And if you look at large cities around the world like Paris (two airports, with one way out on the fringes for budget airlines and not within city limits), London (six airports), New York City metro area (three airports), and Tokyo (two airports) they all have at least one airport to split their traffic.
      In Atlanta, there is basically no other major airport within a reasonably close distance. You have Birmingham, Alabama (moderately sized airport) 2 hours away, and various small regional airports. However, the next closest major international airport would be Charlotte, North Carolina which is 4 hours away. Bottom line: If you live within an hour or 90 minutes (even 2 hours depending on the trip) of the Atlanta metro area you are going to be using Hartsfield Airport!

    Important to note that although atlanta has a small city population, the metro is absolutely massive. If you’ve ever been to the atlanta area, you’ll realize how far out the city actually goes, despite not officially being within “city limits”.
    Not to mention, there is no alternative airport anywhere nearby for likely over ten million people. If you live 2 hours outside atlanta, but want to fly internationally for example, you most likely will drive to atlanta

    Atlanta is a big city with a busy airport, but a lot of people forget most of the larger cities have multiple large airports. NY has Kennedy LaGaurdia Newark, LA has LAX ONT SNA BUR LGB, Chicago has MDW ORD, Dallas has DAL DFW. The amount of traffic flying into some of these other cities and the multiple airports is much larger!

    Used to fly to ATL every week for 18 months. Great airport overall. My only complaint is whenever I decided to skip the lavatory trip before landing and waited to use the restroom in the terminal, we would always land on the southern runway 10/28. The long taxi would involve holding at 9R/27L and 9L/27R to allow planes to take off and land. All topped off with a 20 minute wait for the gate with a delayed plane to clear. Still, lots of great memories. It's one of the few airports that can support two simultaneous takeoffs and three parallel landings regardless of weather due to the runway configuration.

    So basically, if you think about it, being the average Georgian resident, Atlanta has good fares, it's a great place to stopover, it's a hub for Delta, Southwest, Spirit, and Frontier, putting in some of that more good fares. The population is over 6-7 million, 9th largest metro, EVEN LARGER THAN THE SAN FRANCISCO OR SEATTLE METRO. Atlanta is just like that. Also, Delta's headquarters are in Atlanta, and also, chickfila borgirs are good.

Just like Miami one of the biggest cities in the south when you search it up it says the population is 439 thousand which doesn't sound right but that's only counting Miami its self but the metro population of it is same as Atlanta. same with other big cities that look to have small populations just search up the metro population and it'll be totally different haha!
