How I would fix FNAF 2: -Remove the puppet. -Add the toxicity meter back. -The toys (Freddy, Bonnie, Chica) will be the only ones to be fooled by the mask, since they are new models to have FACIAL REGOGNICION and the mask would block them from seeing your face. -Make the all the withereds not be fooled by the mask, because them being older models, it wouldn't make sense since they don't have a FACIAL REGOGNICION system, unlike the toys. So, instead you'll have to flash them on the camera (to actually give the damn camera light a purpose to exist, also making you forced to look for them on the cameras) -Make Mangle more of a threat and you having to watch her on the cameras to defend yourself against her, she won't be fooled by the mask either.
This works. However. Just a small change. Keep the puppet BUT make it so the music box isn't some "Oh if I'm done you lose entirely" I'd make it more of a "Puppet starts in Prize corner and slowly makes their way to the office" can be masked when they're in the hallway (Foxy but mask instead) and the music box makes them slower. Example: Puppet has a move speed of 1 movement interval every 10 seconds. If the music box is going. Interval is now 20. That way the puppet is still a "Okay. Slow them down so I don't get caught at a bad time or let them catch up with the other mask animatronics to reset" But that's just my idea though. Music box slows puppet down from a small mask attack. Not stop them from just entirely ending the run.
FNAF 2’s Help Wanted VR levels fix a lot of these things. You can check all the cameras on every single night, even the 2 black light levels. This being because the music box winds down WAY slower and it’s WAY more watered down/easier than actual fnaf 2. I agree with all of your points, while fnaf 2 still stays my favorite out of the first 4 games just because of the sheer amount of dopamine I get from beating 10/20 mode (i probably beat it like 50 times by now lmao)

4:27 i completely agree with you on here even though i love fnaf 2, i think one way this problem could be fixed would be if you were made to search for the marionette around the cameras similar to springtrap and wind the music box on the camera he appears in or something like that, this would fix the problem of having to only look at one camera and would be a way more engaging gameplay loop

THATS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING. I love fnaf 2 for its enviroment, the designs, and some of the renders are great, like the one of withered foxy just standing in the parts & service room, or Mangle in the game area, but they all feel pointless because of the goddamn music box. also the fact that the mask is how you defeat all of the animatronics save for foxy and the puppet is annoying, and uninnovative. While fnaf 1 has been boiled down to a formula, the formula took a long while to figure out, and no normal/sane person would figure it out, at least through 1 or 2 play throughs, and even then, most people dont know you dont have to be on foxy's camera to keep him from moving, and while its hinted at in the calls, it wasnt fully realised until fairly after the game came out. but fnaf 2, pushes you into the formula, there wasnt a need for people to analyse the characters ai or the code or shit like that, because it just told you, it gave you the winning deck, and you just had to play it. fnaf 3... it has potential. fnaf 4, pretty good, only complaint is the designs felt like they were trying to hard to be scary, and i didnt like it being set in the childs bedroom, but thats just me. Sister Location, did a more proper job of breaking the mold then fnaf 4, it still felt like a official scott cawthon fnaf game, but unique, though it has its problems, like despite baby being a very important character, we never really see her in the game, except for when shes deactivated, and we dont even get to see her in custom night, and the idea of ennard is great, and ennard without the mask is terrifying, but with the mask... hes kinda adorable lol, as my friend put it "He doesnt have teeth, he has teef". FFPS, henry's speech alone made that game, but there is a lot more that made it great. my only complaint for FFPS is the jumpscares, and Scraptraps voice acting made me want to tear my hair out. UCN is UCN. I refuse acknowledge anything past UCN, because it feels like its only made for money, yk?
I agree. Watching the animatronics move throughout the building, getting closer and closer to you each time adds to the horror. In FNAF2, every camera except for the puppet's is essentially wasted development time. Not to mention the fact that constantly getting bombarded in the later nights by animatronics that can easily be scared off just by throwing on a mask really lessens the horror you're supposed to feel by seeing them that close to you. I definitely don't dislike FNAF2 by any means, but I don't understand why so many people think it's the best one. I guess people just enjoy the chaos and hey I mean that's fair. I just personally prefer the "less is more" approach in a horror game.

ive actually figured out that foxy doesnt move if you do one of two things: the first one is obviously looking at his camera, but you can actually survive without looking at buddies camera at all. his move timer actually resets when you flip up the monitor in general. meaning you can prevent both freddy and foxy moving with one camera. ive beaten night 6 like this by just keeping freddy on stage and checking foxy every 2 in-game hours

How I would fix fnaf 2. Puppet acts like freddy in fnaf 1 where instead of flashlight battery there is just normal power like in fnaf 1. Instead of using the flashlight on cameras you have night vision like in five nights at candy's. Cameras only use up power when night vision is active. Instead of a flashlight in the office you have the camera thing from SL's funtime foxy part. The toys act the same. But Balloon Boy only disables your flash camera and not your night vision. Withered Chica can go through both vents. Withered Bonnie appears on a camera and smashes it making you flip down the camera automatically and you yourself have to put on the mask quickly. Withered Freddy is the same. Withered Foxy is the same just less of a pain in the ass to deal with. He also hates when he's watched on cameras so if you just look at him on the cameras with night vision you should be good. So Balloon Boy isn't always a game over. Golden Freddy will not have the hallway thing is will just be you putting on the mask or flipping the camera.
So here's my super simple way to make FNAF 2 fun. Be able to wind the music box on ANY camera. There's still the risk of being combo'd and being forced out of cams for too long, and you're still vulnerable while winding up the music box, but it's no longer a completely dominating threat, leaving room for actual gameplay. Perhaps you would need to use the flashlight on the other cameras to stall animatronics in such a way that they don't all come at you at once, giving you a chance to wind the music box between mask uses.
