    The best thing you could do to the bebop jazz community. What a tribute to Barry RIP 🪦

    Bebop seems so complicated! Thanks for this treasure!

    Watching this reminded me of the time I spent with David Baker at Indiana University during a Jamey Abersold summer workshop. David would sit at the piano and work us for 90 minutes nonstop. It was hard work keeping up but what an impact he had on all of us. Dr. Barry Harris is just as inspirational and intense, what a talent!

    Thank you for uploading this treasure. One thing I've learned with music is, listening is key to making good music. I hope this was conveyed to the participants in the workshop...but then again, I could be mistaken as to the level of musicianship they possess.

    Prove me wrong: all the kids playing the lines with mistakes and at different tempos sounds like an Art Ensemble of Chicago album.

    • @AlecKatz
      @AlecKatz  4 місяці тому

      It is a workshop, not a concert. They are picking up the lines by ear and learning things on the fly. It does not mean to be perfect at the beginning.

      @@AlecKatz I was making a lighthearted quip, and it was about AAC (which I admire, BTW), not the kids.
