Hi boys! I'm a bit late to the part 1 and 2 videos on the Fiat 500. This is exactly the job I'm on at the moment but on a 2014 Ford Ka which is the same engine. I'm not a mechanic but have what can be described as a healthy interest in mechanics. I've changed the head gasket but I've lost the timing through one thing or another. I've locked the crankshaft with the tool but I'm finding it difficult to find the correct position to lock the camshaft in. It's trial and error at the moment and I've put it back together twice only to find it not running correctly. As you said, at least I can't damage the engine getting it wrong dur to it being non interferrence. Gaz.
Great vid, have you guys made a part 3 on the final fix? I'm on the look out for a 500 for my daughter who's about to start driving so ace content 👌 Sympathise with you in terms of thinking it's just one issue, but can difficult to know, I've got a 1970 Triumph Herald with a misfire, I've changed the distributor, added electronic ignition, replaced the advance / retard pipe, upgraded to electric fuel pump + more, none of which has made a difference, and still only make my way home courtesy of the AA on occasions 🤦 Seems to be a fuel delivery issue so about to trace that back to the tank 🤞 Frustrating when they don't play ball with expectations but it will come good 💪
Hiya! Thank you, yes there is a Part 3 - which hopefully will be out soonish. The car is fixed! It has sat around for a few months as have been very busy. Couple of curveballs 😂
I did some work on th tata indica vista-Same engine 1.4 nd after i replced valve stem seals the computer problems went hay-'wire.th variant oil cntril valve is actually ok but nt functioning due to electrical ecu corruption.can u help me
Thats interesting obviously its not an non interference engine after all.lads its a head gasket all the time only 1.2 that arent interference is the early ones without a vvt as the valves dont pertude out so far.hope you got it sorted.
Nightmare these cars are mate , I bought a 2013 1.2 lounge 500 only 80 thousand on the clock , the bloody gearbox and clutch blew up after 3 weeks , dealer paid half the costs to fix it but then the rear shocks broke and then the handbrake cable snapped so in total ive spent around £600 of my own money , the car cost £3 grand which at the start of 2024 i thought was a good deal but now ive been told its only worth £2 grand as car prices have dropped a lot in the last year , the thing that annoys me is before i bought it , I had a 2011 Hyundai i10 and it never went wrong and had over 95k on the clock , sold it to my neighbours friend for like a grand and shes still going well a year on ! So yeah do not buy a FIAT 500 they are SHIAT lol
I really do like the Fiat500 like and style. I believe despite the intended size it has stood up really well. Do I trust the mechanics of the engine....unfortunately no. It is a Fiat..

How did it get to that state😮. Negligence or just premature component failure
both! so bad.. it's still on my driveway as I'm struggling to find time and it still overheats!!!

I'll buy the car I need the front end and dashboard, if you want to sell
Pretty sure it’s an interference engine.
