Hi guys!! the first 3 minutes is me addressing some things then i get into the regular video. Please watch all the way through! My Twitter is in the description box and please use wisely 😅
She gave a couple interviews this year, there are on YT, not sure about english subs, but yeah she has a wise personality. When she was asked "what is it like to skate nowadays with young girls who do quads so easily?" she replied something "they have their own goals and i have my own, i'll keep skating as long as my body tells me - Liza you can skate!"
The spots for the World-Championships habe been announced, and it's Liza, not Alena who's going to go. Official list: Anna Shcherbakova Alexandra Trusova Liza Tuktik
I cried for Aliona after the short, so happy she skated clean for the free skate . 😭💔hoping next season will be great for her since it’s an Olympic year.
I was so taken aback by plushenko’s reaction after Kostornaia’s sp, that I just immediately got premonitions about her either breaking off and just having Rozanov as her official, singular coach, OR going somewhere entirely different altogether (like Zhenya did when she went to Brian- not necessarily saying aliona would go to Brian but just somewhere else...) idk. Time will tell. I def did notice that Eteri seemed especially happy throughout the weekend!
@@deryan3364 That's really it, I've never seen Eteri as happy as when she understood her 2 students came 1 and 2 and her ex-student was 3rd on a WC podium. She takes probably more satisfaction when something validates her domination over the ladies' field than the true joy of her students winning. Here she's probably way happier about Alena having the deception of her life than Liza having such satisfaction... The worst in all that is that the odd is ALWAYS in her favor, even by chance (Elizaveta won by a margin of 0.96). And currently, while it wasn't that predictable few times ago, Valieva and Shcherbakova have SO much more momentum compared to Sacha and Aliona!
Tutberidze's good mood definitely had nothing to do with Aliona. Kamila, Maia (yay Maia!!!) and Dasha all skated quite well. Kamila did take risks with her new elements and layout, but her triple Axels are amazing now. I'm so proud of Maia; I knew she had those quads in her! And Dasha did her job, and she did it well done! I definitely felt for Aliona. It's hard to come back to competition after a hiatus, no matter what the reason and no matter how long the break is (I even remember Anna Shcherbakova saying in an interview that after a vacation it took her a while to get her momentum back in practice). So I commend her for fighting and not giving up. But of course I'm so happy for Liza! She's pretty much guaranteed to go to Worlds :D (unless something happens but let's not think about that or that something will happen)
thank you!!! i want to but i feel like i'm not well versed enough on the japanese ladies or men. i know mostly about the Japanese men but i don't feel i can talk on the topic until i do my research and invest time. and russian ladies are just taking over my life right now hahaha. so hopefully in the future
@@paolala I hope you do I don't know too much about figure skating....but I was watching some controversial stuff with the Japanese ladies who are getting bad scores because they favored the Russian figure skaters .... And I didn't know that was a thing I watched a scandal on and I was like what no way.....and after watching your commentary on the figure skating in the Russian world I can see how that's a thing a lot of it seems like strings are being pulled behind the scenes.... And a lot of shady stuff goes down which is crazy
Alena needs a good-guy bad-guy coaching dynamic. Plushenko gave her Sergei and private rink time. I think she wasn't used to pushback which is reflected on her interactions with other skaters during competition warm-ups (besides her condition). She needs someone strict in addition to a coach who consoles her (Sergei). Sasha is Plushenko's priority because they skate similarly and personally alike. Alena is hard-headed and stubborn, so she needs someone like that to light a fire under her and right now that won't be Plushenko. Either someone else trains her with Sergei or she should find a new school that would give her ideal conditions and not gives in to what she wants.
@@Clara-me9iz When the last group was warming up during the Russia Cup Final Alena had a lot of trouble finding a place to jump and popped all of her jump attempts.
I know absolutely nothing about figure skating but these videos are still so entertaining. I feel like I'm going to become an expert just by watching. But one question... did you really call this coach at 4:12 (?) hot Sergej? Is that his nickname? If yes that hilarious and I get why y'all having such a great time with figure-skating drama lol.
yes hot sergei hahaha. that's his nickname to differentiate him from the others. There are three relevant sergei's right now in ladies skating -sergei dudakov (team tutberidze) -sergei dadiov (CSKA sergei/ sofia samodelkina's coach) -sergei rozanov (aop sergei/ hot sergei/ kostornaia' coach)
@@paolala Y'all actually call him hot Sergej, that's it, I'm stanning. Y'all have the same weird chaotic energy that I am used to from the circus community (and apparently you also have quite a few clowns so I'm basically at home). Also thank you so much for the explanation of who the Sergejs are and where they come from lol. Apparently, Sergej is the new Sascha cause I am vaguely aware that there are so many Sashas in figure skating that it seems like they have to fulfil a quota.
Even tho I am happy for Liza, I am still a bit mad to see her instead of Aliona, because I enjoyed SO MUCH MORE her skating even with some flows. Especially her new programs (the SP omg!), they were so GOOD while Liza's programs this year are, imo, not enjoyable at all, especially the free... I still ackowledge her drastic shape but still, I can't enjoy her performances that much. I think it's fair for Liza as a redemption for the 2019 WC were she wasn't part of the Russiam Team while having such a strong season (and the best programs of her entire career imo!), but honestly, I really wanted to see the 3A at Worlds as we should have seen last year (and were Aliona had good chances to win). In this perspective I think it's not that fair. With Valieva moving to Seniors next year, we don't have a chance to see the 3A fighting at Worlds ever :'(
The true issue imo is the limit of 3 athletes per country. If there were for exemple a maximum of 5 spots, the olders could have a chance to compete against the youngsters. This system prevent some of the best skaters in the World to compete, especially russian and japanese ladies... Imagine 5 ladies from Russia and Japan at Worlds, the level would be much higher!
It's perfectly fair, Aliona needs time to rest and heal from her sickness and injuries, not stress about going to worlds. Still a depressing situation though
If they send Maiia instead of Sasha to Olympics, i will be pissed. I hope Sasha can pull off 5 quads, because otherwise she can be overlooked and not even go since Eteri's girls get magic bonus on flutzes and Maiia is now doing quads + Sasha is older and 17 is rough age for skaters
An unclear edge "!" usually entails decrease in judges score by 1-2 points. So if there was a difficult entrie, difficult exit, good amplitude, height, rotation speed, clear landing and additional elements complicating the jump, GOE can still be more than +2. Also ease of performance, matching to music, aesthetics strongly affects the grade. That's what I can say about getting magic bonus on flutzes
@@KateKabrinsky But they never get "e" or "!". Even with positive GOE it should be on protocol, yet Sasha got "!" on perfectly fine flip in Russian nats. Eteri's girls don't ever get called on their flutzes
@@liga.triibe but! "The TP may only watch the replay in regular speed to determine the cheat and downgrade on the take off", so if at regular speed the position where the edge becomes wrong is not visible, then there is no penalty. Of course that is a controversial point, but now the rules are what they are
i'm from the Dominican republic but i was born in NYC. Thank you for complimenting my english bc i often cringe at my own mispronouncing of words while editing
If Liza performs her program like she did at Rostelecom, she will win Worlds. The Empress is a VERY powerful program. Only thing she has to do is skate that program clean. I’m rooting for her!!

@@msToshKaz after 1 channel cup at press conference Zhenya said that Alina's team had been with top girls while Zhenya's with lower class girls (we understood she was talking about Maiia, who had fallen in FS). And then at Rus Cup Maiia did 2 clear quads
If winning going away was important KV would have done just that and not practiced a more difficult free skate like she did. Aliona will bounce back big time if she gets her triple axel back. If she doesn't she will still bounce back and be the most beautiful skater in the world when she was the previous 2 seasons before she mistakenky left the great coach. But who knows Anna just won worlds without landing a quad. I don't think that will happen at the Olympics that 1 of the girls will win the gold without landing and ultra jump. But we don't know because the girls jumping triple axles and quads are not Nathan Chen. They are not automatic. Anything can happen next season. Get your popcorn ready!

Liza's first Nationals were in 2008, and Kamila was born in 2006. But this fact still freaks me out. Liza is eternal🤞
