- This might be a two parter since we have yet to get a conclusion to this drama. So look out for another video once the official news is out and another video after worlds. As always don't take anything too seriously and enjoy!
So the latest update that is not in the video is that Yana (plush's wife) talked about the problem being a financial contractual issue with Kosto's mother. So until she pays whatever they agreed to then kostornaia would be in theory allowed to go back to team Tutberidze. If Eteri still wants her back of course. This is by far the messiest of transfer ever.
Mexican telenovelas got NOTHING on russian figure skating drama.

Alena with her injuries and illness, already met the eteri expiry date. The juniors (with their quads) heading to the seniors will take over the 3 As soon. The transfers of Yevgenia and Alena are non factors now since the new batch of eteri kids with their quads are on their way to the top.
Sadly the 3 As were born a bit too early. They would be around 18 at the olympics and from what we experienced with alina-Zhenya at the 2018 olympics, it will always be a 15 year old junior who has just debuted in seniors in the olympic season who will stun with her technique and win over the more established senior skaters who have already been injured due to various senior seasons, have a lot of pressure on them to win the olympics, and are undergoing puberty. However, Trusova and Shcherbakova are still very promising, particularly Trusova if she can land 5 quads--however, from what we see, Valieva's PCs will certainly make her overtake Trusova if she doesn't land multiple clean quads.
@@Bella-po8vh i agree. It is all about the timing with the Olympics. Should be around 15 or 16 during the olympic cycle so body is still not fully developed as an adult and can still land those difficult jumps. Once they turn around 17ish, body changes making it difficult to do those jumps and then they experience and suffer injuries which affect their mental toughness and confidence. Re Trusova. i love the girl but she is struggling landing her quads consistently vs her junior days which is sad to see/ And again, the age factor.

Honestly at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Eteri would say no just because how chaotic this whole thing has been. Like it’s the end of the season and I’m sure all of them are kinda desperate for a better outcome. Why couldn’t this wait after worlds! 😂😭

@@azhars.7963 things like better achievements at the end of the season. Like for example podiumed at worlds or something. Or something simple like managing to polish one's skills better. Tbf kostornaia's move to change coaching is unusual cause changing coach in the middle of the season will jeopardize a lot of things. Not something you wanna do unless you're like really desperate

Why on earth would she leave Eteri and then ask to go back? She had reasons why she left in the 1st place. There's more than one decent coach in Russia lol.
If she didn't bring a bouquet of flowers to the former coach, then the coaching solidarity may work and no one will take her. Tamara Moskvina recently mentioned this. It may sound weird, but it's a kind of tradition in Russia, not only in figure skating

As a student\pupil, if you are leaving someone with whom you have spent a lot of time, then you should present a gift. Usually flowers + champagne + chocolate are presented, this is a mark of respect. Kosto didn't do that and now she has one way - through Eteri's forgiveness 😂
Also, we sholdn't forget that Sambo-70 is a school, and Alena needs to complete secondary education.
I think she changed Eteri originally because 1) all the gold taken got to her head and she decided that it was done mostly because of her without the coaches 2) probably, lost her 3a because of the long period without training due to lockdown. And imagine - she goes back to the ring after the lockdown is off and see 3 new juniors in better shape than her, some with quads. And she understands that that's exactly what they - as 3a - done to Zagitova and that's her future) She is also kinda hysterical sometimes, so I think her emotions killed all and she went to another camp. And while training at angels she understood that with Eteri she would have done much more - her words. So probably the Eteri's approach is the one she needs.

🚨🚨 alena has officially returned to sambo70 and eteri has set some "rules" for her, such as she can't have unexcused absences and that she has to get her 3a back in a training period of 2 months and if she doesn't get it she won't be able to stay.
She is staying at TT whether she gets her triple axel back or not. Aliona as the most beautiful skater in the world. She is a major chip for the great coach and now TT has alyona Amna KV Maia Dasha and Zhenya all vying for the Olympic team. It's going to be crazy and exciting.
It was a wasted season for Aliona. I hope she can recover from this season and be great again.

I also want to add that Alyona’s latest words about Tutberidze were after FS on Russian Cup (27 February?) and that was a citation “The road can be managed by walker” (Дорогу осилит идущий). And she said that it were the words of one of her trainer (it is Tutberidze). And she said that in a so smooth reverence in my opinion. Sooooo she was already kinda on the road back in her mind, thinking about how it all could be if she stayed with her
"Only who walks can handle the road" my translation by meaning. Looks like "keep putting one foot in front of the other" but less imperative. My former employer told me that, but I found an easier road :D
Regardless of this shit...we (the US) have NO chance against these girls in Beijing. Kamila, Anna, Maiia, Elizaveta, Aliona etc. They. Are. Amazing. So this drama makes me feel better about us not being able to medal lol.
I mean Alysa Lui will be eligible next season I think... and if Bradie gets a triple axel or quad they’ll be more competitive with the Russians I think Amber Glenn is also training a triple axel as well. So hopefully they’ll be closer to the Russians.

They barely did for Evegenia and maybe that was because she never left her club, and she was a world and olympic medalist plus very famous. The situation for Aliona is quite different unfortunately
Too much work and difficult for number of reasons. Mainly cause of money and covid, also rusfed wouldn't let her. Medvedeva was able to go to orser cause she saved up money and she was a darling in the skating world. Even if Kostornaia has money and there is no covid, she wouldn't be able to cause her reputation isn't to the level of medvedeva, so rusfed won't let go of her.
@@avg18 Aliona doesn't speak english very well at all. Neverthleless, movig to Orser is nothing but a wet dream of particular figure skating fans. Alion is not in a position of Medvedeva, beloved by mighty persons of FFKKR, namely Tarasova. She doesn't have the support nor enough personal funds to make that happen. Nor I consider Orser more than overrated guy from Canada. Seriously, his success on the ladies field since Kim Yuna is one worlds bronze medal from already written off skater. Don't understand why people still think this or that lady should go to him.

Skating isn't always About the drama yk. Figure skating drama is mostly in Russia, cause yk Russian and figure skating is inseparable. The other disciplines aren't full of drama. Ladies discipline is. The men are chill, i think the pair skate also quite chill too. Ice dance tho, idk bout that one
@@rayneforresy640 unfortunately nina mozer is returning to russian pair skating, so expect a lot of drama and partner switches next season and after Beijing. There was a lot of drama surrounding Sappenfield's rink this year too....also. ice dance is dramatic af, it gives us so much drama too

So the final decision is there) They took her in. She already skated in traning. Alyona told that she understood that she needs to apologize and put away her unhealthy pride and show whatever it takes so that they would take her. They took her in with the 2 months probation. Eteri told that her daughter asked her too to give Alyona the second chance. So this drama will be continued after the 2 months.
What surprised me is that Eteri accepted Medvedeva back. Medvedeva is in her 20s and is unlikely to learn quads now. If Eteri accepted her back (after a public spat), why not accept Aliona back? Something tells me the Russian skating federation has influence on Eteri's decision. I think Eteri will take Kostornaia back. Shcherbakova and Kostornaia have a chance at the Olympics. It is too soon for Eteri's junior skaters.
I think Eteri only accepted Evgenia because Evgenia is making a lot of money right now and Eteri gets a cut of it. Just a theory though! The federation pushed her towards Eteri as well.
I don’t think either Eteri or Zhenya had a choice in that. RusFed returned her to Eteri.

Her comeback seems more like PR to me, and in a way it benefits them both, in terms of exposure. Evgenia's image can still sell, and being in Eteri's good graces can help her in tv projects. I think Tarasova was a big part in making this reunion happen, and Eteri had to get a major benefit out of it, maybe for her daughter. But this is only my head theory lol
I would really like to see Medvedeva back in competition. But I read rumors she had COVID and is now suffering from lung problems and has long term back issues. I think quads or even a triple axel are the last things on her mind right now. :((
So at Eteri's a way too controlling environment and at Plushenko's a way too permissive one and none of these options work with Alena's personality... Meanwhile there are clear signs of madness in her choices. Like who can pull so many programs in such short time and why not making the best out of the last ones when your goal is to reach Worlds? You pay a coach not only to have access to the ice but to take professional decisions for you... Give too much control to a rebellious skater and she will lose potential.
Talented and gifted as she is... Is not enough. Sports is also about discipline and she desperately needs it...
I was definitely excited for Aliona to go back to TT. Until I heard EG speak today and how Aliona is on a two month probation and she can't miss any more days coming off coronavirus and injuries and I'm like I don't know about this. I will give it a chance but a small part of me wishes she went to cska Sergey Davydov where she would be the number one senior lady by a mile. I don't mind that aliona apologized for what she said after she left in the summer but why does it have to be public? And TAT saying Kosto needed to apologize to Russia for her comments is moronic. No one in the history of Russians sports is insulted more people than TAT tainted Alinas Olympic gold medal three years ago with her complaining about it after the Olympics for week after week. TAT should have to apologize for that. ;)
Aliona is the number 6 girl at TT and number 7 right now going into the Olympic season behind Anna KV Sasha Dasha Maya and Liza T. Damn.
But if she gets healthy and gets her triple axle back I think she could move up to number 4 on that list by Nationals in late December.

Lol I think the main difference is that Evgenia came back from a foreigner coach, and thanks to 👑 she couldn't go back so the powers that be could make the moves to make her go back to Eteri. Aliona left for another russian coach, one who is vocally against Eteri and wants to take the first place podium from her. In russia Eteri is more important than whatever girl she coaches, she is the one "making" champions, whomever is skating is interchangeable. So maybe they want to punish Aliona a bit, or a lot, who knows. But hey what do I know? This is a theory, A Film Theory! Lol

Tutberidze was the one that reached out to Aliona. She wants her to replace Anna for World Champs, because Anna supposedly is not able to skate her utlra-complex free program. So the idea of Eteri is to take a better prepared Aliona from Plushchenko and get a contender from her camp for World Champs. Tutberidze and Rusfed are evil, because nothing in Russian sport is ever fair play. Watch out for Eteri with Aliona in Stokholm. I'm Russian btw)

How can you define abusive? If we say that eteri was a harsh and demanding coach, yes she is. Yelling at one's students are not something that a teacher should do to their students. But she has her reasons, and those are for the sake of results. Eteri above all is someone who knows that the end results worth all the pain and blood to achieve it
Well there are physical bootcamps where people are shouted at to workout as hard as they can. So it is one of the methods.

Kostornaya had 3A with Etteri team. that is a fact. Etteri, Glikenhause and the rest of coaches built her that 3A " gold card". Solid, powerful and with sweet exit. She had 3A as standalone jump and in combination with 2T. That what gave her the gold medal at the 2020. Got it? she was in the lead because she had it- she could do the Ultra C 3A both short and free programs. That is the only reason she won. That and the fact that she is lazy and she admits Etteri had to run her ass on the ice time after time during trainings at season 2019.
She moved to " Mr Long nose , big mouth, using money from his wife, no name coach" - and lost it all. HE never forced her to train, never forced her to do cardio. She would have never, ever, ever be allowed to be as lazy as she is if she trained at Etteri team. Trusova during covid19 in Intgrm= 4 trainings of Cardio per day, push ups with her brother sitting on her. So she got RIPPED. Valieva = 4 trainings of cardio per day. Sherbakova- as well, till she got Covid19. But Kostornaya was eating icecream all day long.... And her cardio went down. HARD. Forget that all. IF she had the same program as she did at finals of 2020 - she would have taken the gold and not Sherbakova. Hell if she could have the cardio - and passed the draw of RF skating - she could have taken 2nd palce.
Actually I would love to see her back with 3A.
But she decided to run after Trusova to that ....
But that is ok. Etteri Tutberidze knows it all. This is not her first rodeo. So she makes progress every day with new skaters...
There is a new age coming. The age of Valieva. She has 3A, she has quads and she is at the right age. I see Olympic medal with some shiny color with her.
