Not all cans are designed the same and frequently I find some that have too shallow a lip and they won’t unseal. This seems to be more common with low-price store brands. The lip needs to be 1/8” (0.125”) tall and many of the problem cans are only 0.107-0.119”. So I need to keep a conversational opener handy.
I think the point is to rotate the cutting blade from the blunt side, towards a new sharper side. Eventually you will run out of sharp side to cut with, that's the time to replace the whole can opener. The cutting blade generally is not meant to rotate as you cut the can.
Sharpness of the blade means nothing if the can won't move. Patent even says the cutting wheel is supposed to rotate freely: "pulls it tightly against the housing which holds a rotatably mounted cutting wheel."
WD40 is a stripper and NOT a lubricant, just to clarify. I'm using food grade mineral oil. Good vid. I almost threw mine away but knew there had to be a really simple fix that was eluding my brain.
Amazing 60 second fix! I've thrown out two before this. THANK YOU
Thank you! Now my Fissler can opener works again. 🙏
Thank you for the video! I used your method on my OXO can opener. Now it cuts perfectly.
Thanks for the video, this fixed mine.
Now I'll add a drop of veg oil infrequently after use.

Thank you so much - I tried this and it worked!!!!!
Life saver! My chili almost had nothing but meat lol. My husband’s been struggling to fix it and duhh.. 🤦♀️ WD40!
Thanks, got some WD40 and a small screw driver and it works like a charm
Thanks for the video!!! Now I won't toss them when they act up like... :)

Thanks for uploading
Excellent how too 👍🏻 thank you. Yes it worked perfectly
Thanks! Is there any way to prevent that wavy dent that it makes at the start point of the cut when it first locks on?
Thanks for the video! I was about to order a new can opener, I'll try this first! I just hope I have wd40 in my garage. 🤞🏼
Are you looking for a sugar baby?
Thanks my friend. :)
Thank u very much
You sound like Ryan Reynolds
That's not what's wrong with mine. The handle is coming loose and it doesn't make a tight seal on the lid. Is there any way to tighten the handle?
I've had several of the handles just break in half from regular use over a period of time. I think there is a flaw in this design.
Great idea, but use alcohol as it will eventually evaporate. WD won't.
wd40 is not good on pastik, chemically takes softner away then plastik gets brittle.
whew... 6.5 minute vid that shoulda been 20 seconds.
Stupidest can opener I’ve ever used
