@@Cotran61 dumb question, but how I do this hyper jump to get that item in 28:29 , when I try it if I jump, Samus lost her speed and I only do a normal jump falling in the lava.
Every remake needs 3 things: 1. New graphics and possibly new modes 2. Fixed issues from the original 3. New music and tutorials for various items not seen in the original, as well as new areas. Metroid Zero Mission does all this right.
I've played this game a few times and every time I get the power suit in Chozodia, I love getting revenge on those stupid space pirates who whipped me out in a couple hits. I always am saying in my head " time to kick space pirate ass, you guys are dead". I love that part.

4:01 "hard mode reduces energy tanks to 49 units ..." Correction: Energy Tanks are reduced from 100 energy to 50 energy. Think about it: In the normal game, you start with 99 energy and each tank increases your capacity by 100. That's why you can have a full tank and 00 energy showing. The next damage you take will deplete the tank and you'll be back to 99 (if you managed to take exactly 1 point of damage). In hard mode, you start with 49 energy and each tank adds 50 to your capacity, not 49. In short, hard mode cuts your energy reserves by half, rounded up, while also cutting your weapon upgrades by half, rounded down.
in hard mode, you start with 99. . . but yeah, each additional tank gives only 50. so, after getting the very first tank, you will have 49+1 full reserve tank, which = 149 . technically, though, if they give you half health and make the enemies do double damage, that has the net effect of either ...they do normal damage and you have 1/4 health or you have normal health and they do quadruple damage. they could have achieve the same net effect either way.

I just realized I had this game as a little kid, but I didn’t know what Metroid was at the time. My dad got me a used GBA in like 2005 and this was the only game I had for it. I never knew how to pass the boss with the large eye in the first section so I never enjoyed it all that much. Sadly, I lost my GBA when we moved a year later. Once I heard the music, I knew this was the game I played all those years ago. Now I wanna actually play this game, and enjoy it for what it is.

Not enough height! so after the first spark KEEP You must jump then hit up to stop spinning then shinespark.. on top of that keep holding forward as you'll be hitting another slope. You'll keep running through to break through the wall. Probably one of highest skill walls in metroid
for the record, you can get the varia suit very early. it's damn hard though. I was baffled at first until I realized you obtain it when you get your suit back. Also, I applaud you on this play-through. You got early super missiles a different way and only obtained items when you came back through. Your use of those shortcuts was impressive as i never seen the purpose in those. For those that don't know why he's quick, it's because he's going for "under 2-hour 100% completion." The gallery image proves his accomplishment however, I'm somewhat disappointed you have no 15% Runs. Regardless you definitely deserve my respect!
I like that The Zero Suit is in this one because it acts like a throwback to the days when you would enter a password and play the original NES game with the Justin Bailey Suit while adding a new take to it.

Thank you for this entire play through. You helped me remember why this is my favorite Metroid game. Everything about it is excellent and beautiful. Takes me back when I played it on my gameboy SP in like 2002 I believe
The absolute best feeling in the world is stumbling up in a Zero suit and getting the fully powered gravity suit...and BLASTING THE SHIT OUT OF EVERYTHING.
My second favorite Metroid, incredibly close to Super. Sure it's the easiest Metroid in the series, but it's so so addicting to play again and again to find ways to sequence-break.
Im trying to use this run as a walk through of sorts, and i aint gonna lie, some of these things are unbelievably hard to do. Not being mechanically inclined makes this extremely hard lol props to you, this is incredible
God! The nostalgia is killing me. I still remember when the trailer for this game released. The ballerina flipping a hundred times then landing beautifully. God I miss those days.

Yup, and besides being a remake it's the first one to introduce the Zero Suit. This game also features Super's items such as Charge Beam and Super Missile and it was made with sequence breaking in mind.
You mention Prime 2 and originally when I played as a child the first time you see those zombie soldiers made me return the game, also god forbid you played Fusion around the same time as this.

I love how no one bothers getting the Varia Suit anymore even on a casual run. I guess it is out of the way and you get it anyways from the Ruins boss.
i guess everyone plays it "Super Metroid Impossible"(a rom hack) style. the hack hides the varia suit in the deepest part of ridley's lair. you literally have to pas through every heat section in the game and then defeat ridley without it, before it llets you get it. the numbers are so precise, you literally have to play pixel perfect and have exactly 1 hp left at the moment you grab it.
For some reason I never liked the original first Metroid game, I mean I appreciated that that's where the Metroid series started, but I just couildn't get into it. As a matter of fact, I didn't get into the series until I played Super Metroid as a 5 or 6 year old kid. But I've always wanted to play all teh games in order (without playing the first game) and I'm glad this game here is a remake of the original nes version. Thanks for playing this and sharing this video with everyone.
Fun fact: Sakamoto wanted to have Samus crawl through small spaces in the original metroid game but the limited hardware of the NES couldn't support the sprite work needed for those animations at the time so they ended opting for her to turn into a little ball which is how we got the morph ball. I honestly believe her crawling in the zero suit at the end section of the game is there just b/c Sakamoto wanted to finally use his original idea.
Those poor Space Pirates running like chickens with their heads cut off at the end to cancel the self destruct. “Out of order?! Fuck! Even in the future nothing works!”
For anyone struggling with the early super missiles trick at 33:02, metroid 2002 has an easier option for that. It also notes the one used here as being "extremely difficult" and i'm inclined to agree. The easier method involves storing the shine spark the same way, and instead wall jumping up that pillar to use the shine spark at the top. Considering how obnoxiously precise the one used is, I would highly advise the wall jump strat.
I envy those who had the privilege of playing this game on the Gameboy Advance console. I never had one. I wish the console made a comeback so I can have my own.
holy crap man. you dominated this game. i got stuck at mother brain on easy (partially because i was using a phone emulator and the rockets were hard to use) but you absolutely destroyed the game.
I played on phone emulator too, but that didnt affect on using my rockets, as I replaced the "R" key with "Volume UP" key. That way..it works as if u are playing with a console. Damn..I'm a smartass 😂😂

In short, hard mode cuts your energy reserves by half, rounded up, while also cutting your weapon upgrades by half, rounded down.

but yeah, each additional tank gives only 50.

37:24 He just used an enemy as a platform to jump without getting hurt.
He landed on the very last pixel of that ledge
Super Mario is confused
I'm listening to this at work and I know exactly everything that's going on just because I've played the game about 35 times

@@Jovemsemfuturo hahaha i already finished the game lol
1:29:56 oh yep just a normal day where paralization lasers come out of the walls yep totally
I like that The Zero Suit is in this one because it acts like a throwback to the days when you would enter a password and play the original NES game with the Justin Bailey Suit while adding a new take to it.
-taking on Ridley AND Tourian without the Varia Suit on Hard Mode
I applaud your bravery for such a bold move.
Came back to re-watch this video of one of my favorite re-makes ever and I feel old. I can't thank you enough for making these videos and helping little me beat these classics all these years back and I'm super glad to see you're still uploading to this day!
annotation 1:20:57 "so what hit her? A shark with freaking' laser beam?"
Nope; it where sea bass... mutated sea bass... ill tempered mutated sea bass!!
So weird seeing a metroid playthrough with almost no walljumping.
Those space pirates have Christmas elf shoes on.
1:03:40 ooh baby that 20 hp
You say Ridley's claw is devastating? In his hardest form, when he hit you, he took out 3 reserve tanks in one shot, yikes.
One of the Best remakes in all history
I grew up playing this.. brings so many good memories..
One of the best remastered games ever. An after you beat it the whole original NES version is unlocked to play as well.
The bassline for the beginning sountrack is so fucking tight dude :) Love this game :)
1:37:13 lol, paranoid. :-3
2:13:52 I love how the spermship ejects from the steel port-tube lul
I just cannot be serious hearing Ridley scream.
My second favorite Metroid, incredibly close to Super. Sure it's the easiest Metroid in the series, but it's so so addicting to play again and again to find ways to sequence-break.
Literally bought a Nintendo DS Lite to just play this game. Paid $56 bucks for it.
The GBA and GameCube era was one of the best times to be a Nintendo fan!
Im trying to use this run as a walk through of sorts, and i aint gonna lie, some of these things are unbelievably hard to do. Not being mechanically inclined makes this extremely hard lol props to you, this is incredible
1:31:14 *_BEST GBA GAME MOVIE_*
God! The nostalgia is killing me. I still remember when the trailer for this game released. The ballerina flipping a hundred times then landing beautifully. God I miss those days.
Who knew that a mouse could be a escape pod?
Man I remember staying ups nights to play this on my gb sp
Amazing gameplay bro It’s incredible you know where everything is I have never seen all of these missiles and tricks and stuff you do like when you make yourself go purple and smash through the walls and shit like that is genius I’m like watching this and I’m so interested in it and the fact that you did this it’s incredible to me
Thanks for uploading this good game, I am an unfledged.
The colors in this game are so amazing
So this is a remake of the first Metroid game with a zero-suit section?
+Justfortecomments Pretty much.
Also more upgrades and modes
AntSwift1 and more polished, better navigation.
General Disorder and a few more bosses
Yup, and besides being a remake it's the first one to introduce the Zero Suit. This game also features Super's items such as Charge Beam and Super Missile and it was made with sequence breaking in mind.
Very professional player. Thanks for the great video
2:09:18 There’s something very menacing about seeing no enemies and then, down a dark hall, the scraping of metal on metal as mecha Ridley approaches.
Ridley ゴ ゴ ゴ ゴ
I remember playing this when I was seven. It scared the shit out of me but I loved it.
Birdistheword628 same but I was 6 if I only had 1 life box left I would freak the hell out
You mention Prime 2 and originally when I played as a child the first time you see those zombie soldiers made me return the game, also god forbid you played Fusion around the same time as this.
-Dad,what is he doing with the game?
-Fucking it son,fucking it.
-Dad,What is fuck?
-Something marvelous son,I will explain you when you are old.
.....Nice Longplay.
+temarishi The fact that this doesn't have more Thumbs-Up is *criminal*..... :D
>takes shortcuts to save time
>refills the "old fashioned" way :v
Yea, NOT a Very Good STRATEGY. SMH :/
I'm playing this now and as far as i can see, save points don't refill missiles/bombs, only Chozo statues do that
Brings back so many childhood memories
1:33:12 "You got your fully powered suit." The fully orchestrated "power-up" chime, followed by epic remix of Samus' theme. Truly a "Hell Yes" moment.
The music in this is just iconic.
ikr
Oh the memories my childhood was awesome.
Still one of my favorite runs, and games! 🐐 video
As unoptimized as this run is, it's still fun to watch
That moment when you escape Zebes and just wait for the game to end
The doodle by little Samus always gets me.
nice run, enjoyed watching the whole thing! :)
Pretty creepy and unnerving when you go back to Mother Brain's lair and it's all empty and destoryed
This helped a lot, thanks for the video!
Wow you got farther than I ever did as a 7 to 8 year old after countless hours of playing in just 38 minutes or so LOL
Legendary game
I love how no one bothers getting the Varia Suit anymore even on a casual run. I guess it is out of the way and you get it anyways from the Ruins boss.
I do,i didn't even know It was optional
i guess everyone plays it "Super Metroid Impossible"(a rom hack) style.
the hack hides the varia suit in the deepest part of ridley's lair. you literally have to pas through every heat section in the game and then defeat ridley without it, before it llets you get it.
the numbers are so precise, you literally have to play pixel perfect and have exactly 1 hp left at the moment you grab it.
Are you telling me that getting the varia suit is optional???
For hade mode it's just a good idea sequence breaking for the Varia suit. Fighting Ridley w/ the base defense level of the Power suit is suicide
My favorite game as a kid
I must say that you have a curious route. Its very interesting how different Runner chosse their Route. Gj btw :)
You know the bounty must've been high when the intro is THAT aggressive. 🤣
i love metroid games and soundtracks
The Roblox And Xbox Gamer me too
This is my favorite Metroid. I like it more than Super. Don't judge me.
ZGoten metroid fusion is my fav. and yes super metroid doesnt hold up its boring
ZGoten i respect you opinion fam but i still gotta say super is my favorite
toney1982 how can it be boring when those 2D Metroids are so alike one another (English is not my first language)?
"Am I a joke to you?" - Save Rooms
I don't know but the theme when you get chased by Space pirates and the passive version are so damn good!! Really inmersive details!
immersive*
I only got to a certain point in the game so it’s nice to see something like this
I'm currently playing this game in my GBA, it's a great game
@Hank T thank you!! And yes, I would like to play Metroid fusion too. I'll purchase it the next time, when possible =)
I use visual boy as a game boy Advance emulator, obviously for thé games i didn't purchase yet =D
A True Run, no TAS. Great Job!
U know it's business time when he stops to actually kill stuff
Fun fact: Sakamoto wanted to have Samus crawl through small spaces in the original metroid game but the limited hardware of the NES couldn't support the sprite work needed for those animations at the time so they ended opting for her to turn into a little ball which is how we got the morph ball. I honestly believe her crawling in the zero suit at the end section of the game is there just b/c Sakamoto wanted to finally use his original idea.
Such an awesome game! I subbed as well.
Almost as perfect as Super Metroid and that's saying a lot really. I love how they adopted a few things from SOTN too like the ghost sprite.
I envy those who had the privilege of playing this game on the Gameboy Advance console. I never had one. I wish the console made a comeback so I can have my own.
2:11:04 *SLAM*
I have been this game 100 times
holy crap man. you dominated this game. i got stuck at mother brain on easy (partially because i was using a phone emulator and the rockets were hard to use) but you absolutely destroyed the game.
I played on phone emulator too, but that didnt affect on using my rockets, as I replaced the "R" key with "Volume UP" key.
That way..it works as if u are playing with a console.
Damn..I'm a smartass 😂😂
That's a great idea!
The sound when you get the full map that the statue makes sounds exactly like the echolocation sound from Ecco The Dolphin.
