Thank you so much for showing me how to run up the stirrups. I didn't know this before and always found it dangerous to leave them down before and after riding. A source of danger averted.
Thank you so much for this video I had no idea how to run them up until seeing your demo. Also found your cob saddle video amazing thank you for sharing in so much detail.
Thanks for showing how to run bottom buckle leathers up! People in my dressage barn have them and don’t know they can be run up. Much gratitude for your videos and I am a fan!
I’ve ordered some and can’t wait to try them. I have ridden in them on other peoples horses so am hopeful. Main thing I’m worried about is the length I’ve ordered being appropriate. I’ve read that the t bar (even enclosed in its leather guard) needs to sit close enough to the stirrup iron as to not be on the saddle flap - to avoid wearing a patch on your saddle. What do you think about that advice? As I may want to take them up for jumping this seems like an impossible balance to strike😬 I’m hoping the leather won’t actually rub all that much🤞
I know Im asking randomly but does anyone know a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my account password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Jaxtyn Martin Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Totally bonkers... haha, but I'm just saying that because we are all used to seeing them on the top of the flap - I know lots of people that do it though, especially endurance riders. To stop pinching on their legs. But, also people do it to stop rubbing on their flaps. :D **trying not to giggle at the word 'flap' cos that's totally unprofessional of me**
I have synthetic t bar leathers and I now have a leather saddle, are they going to damage the leather on the saddle or is it ok to keep riding in the synthetic ones? I do love them!
Nooooooo, don't use synthetic straps on a leather saddle, you'll wear the leather badly :/ Pop them on Facebook market place or eBay and treat yourself to a nice leather pair xx
It might be worth trying Henry James Saddlery - I believe they make nice ones and ship to USA. They're also a lovely little family business so would appreciate the support during this hard times!
I swear by T-bars! Make changing stirrup length so much easier and quicker, plus no bulky buckle under your thigh. I found they just make life easier and are a lot more comfortable against your leg
Hmmm. That is a tricky one... cos it depends on the manufacturer. It's probably worth checking the length of your current stirrup leathers (you'll probably be a 56" or 60" if you're tall) and ask the manufacturer which length they recommend.
I think they're much easier, personally. Cos you don't need to pull it through the stirrup bar - and some leathers can get a bit stuck/shredded as you pull it through. to change these, you literally untwist the t bar bit, move it to the hole you want, and slide the leather protector down. :) the only thing is, if you change them on board, you have to lean down a bit - but saying that, it's still easier than having to move your leg back and pull the leather through like you do on the 'normal' leathers :)
I've had those t bar at the "buckle" come un done, in very quality name brand ones, and the stirrup fall off. Not sure thats safe as I've never had that happen with a normal buckle leather. That it happens at all is not good imo.

I've got the Bates Webbers, and can't imagine going back to 'normal' stirrup leathers ever again. I highly recommend them!
So helpful! Thank you. :)
I learned a lot from this video, thank you!

It should be fine, as long as you keep the little sleeve over the buckle. :)

@Jaxtyn Martin It worked and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my account !
What brand are you showing in your video? Aren’t they bulky under the calf or ankle?
What do you make of people who have the t bars UNDER the outer flap? I presume to preserve their saddle from rubs. Good idea or bonkers?

@@ADayInTheLifeOfASaddleFitter Oh thank you! Any excuse to buy new tack 🥳
I’d like to purchase a pair of these stirrups, can you recommend a company that will ship to the USA? Thank you!

Totally agree!
How do you choose the correct size vs a normal leather length? I am tall.

Any Canadian brands you would recommend?
Hi, I am afraid I don't know anything about Canadian brands! Sorry!
Is it harder to change the length of the t bar stirrups? I can imagine it to be quite annoying if multiple people ride one horse and have to change it

Really?? YIkes! I've not seen that, but i have seen them break - admittedly i've seen 'normal' ones break too though.
