  • There were so many great events on August 24th, 2024. I attended or at least got to see a little bit of 3 different events. I ended up spending most of my time at the Military Tattoo event.

As an American musician who doesn't know the Lithuanian anthem off the top of my head and heard the comparison fresh, yes I absolutely hear the similarity, but also get why others might not. It's like the same cadence with a harmonic shift, like you said.
I did marching band (civilian, because civilian/school marching bands are a huge thing in the US) for 9 years so this was awesome to see. I've always wanted to watch a military tattoo.
And I have two different great-grandfathers from Vilnius which is why I'm interested in Lithuania, so I might have to catch this one in particular one year.

I'm disappointed that the entire 9 minute video isn't about the Corgi race.

I want to post it as a UA-cam short video but it's too long for that; so here's the 60-second version... I'll post a 90-second version to my Instagram account as a Reel. ua-cam.com/users/shortsoj8Xo9VDtSo?feature=share

As a tuba player that plays a lot in a band here in Lithuania, the German song does sound a bit similar to the Lithuanian anthem

Yeah I think people who have a musical background or musical training can hear it. Everyone else just listens to the notes and nothing more.

I feel bad that you can’t hear it. The similarity in cadence is there.

the german anthem that's a completely wrong song I think it's a german empire song or a prussian song it's german not related to lithuania

I know it's not the German anthem. It's just a composition being performed by the German band.

@@LithuaniaExplainedVlog its a 19th century prussian march called "Preussens gloria" by Piefke and its sort of like an anthem of german armed forces. They always play it at ceremonies. Distant semblance with Lithuanian national anthem in coincidental.
