I grew up in the Maine woods, I’m a Penobscot tribal member, I’ve seen and heard a lot in the woods, but thanks to UA-cam I’ve learned alot of the things I’ve heard and seen that we’ve always gave excuses of the sounds we’d hear growing up, moving to Connecticut for work I heard stories of a swamp monster in occum ct, after years of hearing stories from people that didn’t know each other I think there’s a family of them in about a 20 mile area along the river there, we had a camp in vermont for years, one night I saw one, it was looking in the window at me about ten pm one night, it wasn’t scary looking or intimidating me, just looking like it was wanting to say something, when I made eye contact it stepped back a step and still watched me, after about 5 minutes it backed up and disappeared into the darkness, never saw tracks up there before that, the next morning me and my brother saw tracks, I put my size 17 4e chow in it and it was massive to my foot, the window it was looking into is 7’6” of the ground, and it’s two feet tall, I was 6’7” at that time, and it was at least two feet taller than me, his head filled up the whole window, it’s a 2’x3’ window, never saw him again, the Penobscot name for them is gwackoo, never believed in them till I was in by and saw one, seams to be in the fall when there moving south, glad I was inside, it was at least two and a half times my size, I was about 360 lbs at the time, I was 17 years old, I’m 64 now, and I still believe there real now

Looking forward to this next instalment! I’m a Brit across the pond but I do believe the creature exists, far too much circumstantial evidence in its favour. However, whether the team find the creature or not isn’t what draws me to these films, it’s the pure quality of the productions.

    • @rivaest38
      @rivaest38 5 місяців тому

Well, there are some people that believe they exist in the UK but it they do it’s in the thick forested area of Scotland, much of which still hasn’t been explored. I have seen a video on UA-cam that shows similar tree structures to those found in Canada and America but I’m not convinced. Great Britain is absolutely tiny compared to the States in the North America’s and, despite the size of the Scottish Caledonian forest areas, they are a fraction of the UK land mass and I’m not sure they would support such a creature without someone having seen one that strayed too far south. I can certainly believe they exist in the US and Canada, after all, bears exist in great numbers but how often is one seen in any Bigfoot documentary? I’d say I could count them on one hand so they have the ability to keep away from Humans so if they are rarely seen is it any wonder that a Bigfoot has not yet been captured on a TV cameraman’s film? I believe it will happen but like all the reported sightings, it will purely be by chance.

Your comments at ~11:00 about natural animals making odd sounds not usually heard, resonated - my experience like this was with cows of all things! I was staying in a cabin, in the GA mountains and I heard bellowing howl-calls-things that raised the hair on me. Freaked me out - echoing in the hills, seemingly coming from below toward the valley but also swirling all around. Turns out - it was the bulls/cows in the valley. Don't know if it was them in heat, but holy hell do they make a racket! Never in my life heard those noises before

I'm very happy these types of videos, where nothing happens, because it removes all doubt that you may sensationalise findings etc, and if gives so much more credence to the evidence you do find. Especially tracks and audio footage. It must be amazing visiting these sites of stunning wildlife and beauty, with or without taking Bigfoot into account. I do believe the thermal in conjunction with groud cameras will eventually get the evidence to settle the subject. Lets hope so soon. Again, excellent video 😊

I live in an area with a lot of experiences and sightings, but it is also known as the "banana belt" here on the North side. We get less than 40 inches of rain each year (25-30) but still have the moss on the trees, cilal, huckleberry, elk, deer, salmon, frogs and temperatures that stay between 25 for a cold winter night and 80 being a hot summer day and rare. Our climate stays mostly between 40 and 50 at night and 60-65 during the day.

52:01 I'm buying a property with 400 acres. I was told it takes too long to get surveyers out, so my Real Estate agent is having his buddy mark trees for me; so I know where my property boundries are. Appearantly that's how it's done, with a hatchet. So maybe those are marking the property line. Also, the long imprints in the moss look like fallen trees were moved from those spots, to maybe clear the trail. Awesome scenery! Dude does know how to make the best films! Totaly Serene

I wonder if perhaps since the area is so vast and remote that once they realized that the people weren’t going to go away, then they just moved on out of that area? Could account for lack of activity perhaps. One way to stay hidden, keep moving where you are not being looked for.

Some of the best videography of the hunt for Sasquatch, Take it to the next level Seth, Get funding to drop in unmanned surveillance pods that can shoot video 24/7 and on movement in regular, IR and other modes. I think this is what its going to take to finally identify and prove Sasquatch exists. Money, serious money. But hey, until that happens, keep these great video's coming! On a side note, Les Stroud had a few video's where he would double mark trees (front & back) when moving through the woods. He explained that making one side was kind of worthless when you are back tracking and can't see the marks. I would suspect a hunter or trapper made those double marks. Lastly, I and I bet others would be really intrigued with a video explaining the tech used to track Sasquatch, and not a basic explanation but an in-depth video of devices, brands, which drone does better than others, why you are using Baofeng radios for such a serious expedition. Tech goes well with Squatching especially for some of those who might not know the gear to use.

It almost feels like watching a movie... I really hope you guys find the elusive rock thrower some day, but I gotta say, that hollow tree with the huge rock slab inside it and weird trail leading to it feels like its worth keeping an eye on; something about it looks off.

Alaska place of my people " Tlingit " I've hunted , fished trapped and camped , seen the otterman in action while out there in the woods and by the shore. seen other things one can't explain but are known by the elders of my people. wonderful and wild yet we belong there with them.

Said it before but you need to utilise the trees. As in get up high and stay there. Set up a high tree stand. String up a hammock above head height. Mount cameras up high in wires. If you really want to go all in, you need to dig in. Create a hide in natural crevices such as under upturned trees or caves, and stay in it for a few days with no fires, no light and very little sound and movement. That means pissing in a bottle and shitting in a bag. You need to be aware that animals can smell you even after you’ve left the area that goes for everything you’ve touched as well. So always wear gloves when placing equipment. Do t even wash for a few days before going out there. Set up trip flares or early warning bells at different heights. Set up a camera on the backside of the cabin either on the roof or hidden underneath the window somewhere.

I’ve heard common animals in the woods make sounds I could never begin to explain if I heard it in the dead of night; amazing what kind of sounds can be created by an animal when a predator sinks it’s teeth into it’s neck. Sounds that make your skin crawl.

It's higher pitched in nature but sounds very similar to a fawn crying for it's mother.

The baby crying sound, sounds a lot like a Red Fox, I am an ecologist in the UK and do a lot of nocturnal sound recording of birds and bats and come across similar nocturnal fox calls. Not saying it definitely is but I would try to discount this species first. Felids can also make baby crying sounds like this. Keep up the great work enjoying the content.

I am impressed that it is mentioned that not all animal vocalizations sound like the "textbook" ones. Do all human voices sound the same? So why would all foxes sound exactly alike or only have a limited set of vocalizations. One of the things that annoyed me to the extreme on Finding Bigfoot is EVERY noise is a squatch. Also when some people hear an owl in the daytime and say it was Bigfoot. Funny how I see owls out in the middle of the day 30 feet from my deck. Watched plenty of videos with normal Barred owl sounds in the day with people saying it was Bigfoot. Bottom line, I like the objectivity.
One suggestion, it would be helpful to put the # of multipart series in the UA-cam title.

i’m telling you it sounds like that jam block, because the Sasquatch are making mouth pops, not wood knocking. In my opinion. It just sounds more like mouth pops.

Good theory, very well could be. Especially with how wet and punky the wood out there normally is, not very many good sticks laying around to make knocks with.

Aside from what's left of Dark Coast, there will be another Alaska related Beyond the Trail video still left to come, as well as the next few Beyond the Trail's taking place in British Columbia, so if you enjoy the Alaska content you'll likely enjoy that as well! -Aleks

Silence out there in the end is best. You don't know what their voices are saying or what the knocks mean. So you doing it is meaningless and nonsense

54:04 that's a trick I learned from les stroud on trail marking your way so you can see where you went, and also where to get back to. I'm not saying I made those hack marks, but that's most likely done by someone not wanting to get lost.
BTW I'm really enjoying this series. I can't wait to visit AK myself.😊

I have heard a bobcat make a similar sound to the baby crying noise that is recorded. It was a tom that was making a noise somewhat similar when he was engaging a big tomcat that was owned by a neighbor we had. The bobcat was making the noise and it sounded like it was coming from deep in his throat! The tomcat was trying to do it back at him but wasn’t as loud. Being the lynx is even larger it would be louder. 2 cats sounding off for a female, my question would be what time of the year was that recorded and was it mating time for the lynx? Thanks for listening. Low bass Kenneth

Welcome aboard Rebecca from the Olympic Project. I've watched some episodes where you primarily do your research in Washington. Alaska is something else. I've not been there but the scenery us viewers are treated to is a treat for sure. That chirping of a bird happening at dusk is not a usual thing birds do, it was odd.
Hope you were beginning to feel better while out there Aleks.
Thank you to all of you for this episode.

The only time my dogs reacted to any of those sounds was the baby crying sound(i live in Australia), both stopped doing what they were doing and listened very intently not sure if that actually means anything just thought that it was interesting.
