Hey everybody, just a heads up, but ANYONE mocking any of the witnesses or interviewees in the comments will have all future comments hidden. This also goes for vulgar insults or personal attacks on the STM crew. There is no need for this, act like an adult if you are one. Feel free to call into question the topic, filmmaking, even the investigation side of things, as we welcome constructive dialogue. But we DO NOT tolerate some of the hate being spewed in the comments sections regularly. Thanks for watching and reading!

People are so mean. Boundaries for a reason.
Appreciate the work you all do. The time it takes to gather footage, invest in interviews, equipment cost, membership cost to post, then.... the time to create videos. The management of a team... you all rock!

Awesome that you made note of this. I see some people typing some really mean things and without reason, not that there ever is reason to be angry. I can say I've had a few experiences brought on by my immense sense of openness where the second a sense of danger, built by our society, kicks in and the whole experience comes falling down. So I know for a fact that there is no room for negativity when dealing with things of this nature. Anger, fear, satire... all of these things have long since been outgrown by these other races we rarely have the honor of communicating with. I don't know you people but I treat you all as I would a family, after all we were all born on this world, so I will continue to explain where exactly in your videos I see something that can be altered to better effect at initiating contact. My favorite part of your videos are when witnesses explain their encounters.. there's no other time that I smile as much as when I imagine what these people got to experience. I believe one day you people will make eye to eye contact with these other people, I just hope it's done righteously, and with respect to us all.

Mr. Petakov's Docs are far and above the best out there and the two primary reasons why are, Aleks let's the landscape speak. Slow panned vistas where you can hear the wind talk to the rivers and the animals have their say as well. Secondly, Aleks never makes any conclusions nor engages in questionable research practices. Instead, he gathers whatever there is to gather and lets the viewer decide. My fondest wish is that he never stops creating these masterpieces of art and story telling. Thank you, Aleks!

This one was especially stunning. The Valley itself is so majestic, and together with your cinematography and the particularly excellent sound design and music, I truly feel like I'm there. You really get the feeling for the spirit of a place in your films and that especially shows here. I agree that Bella Coola has a majesty and magic to it that is similar to coastal Alaska, which isn't that far away relatively speaking.
I'm especially touched in watching this by the Nuxalk Nation and feel honored we get to meet some of the members of that community, hear their language, learn a little about their culture and marvel at their absolutely gorgeous ancestral lands here. I especially enjoyed the young guy you interviewed, who was knowledgeable, charming and personable. Despite everything they've been through in the past, the Nuxalkmc you met showed you great hospitality and I have so much respect for that.
All the love! Keep on squatching on.

A long time ago, back in 1976 when I was a young man of 17. My cousin Jake and I went hunting out on our Grandfather's 700+ acre ranch in East Texas. On this ranch there was about 200+ acres of thick woods that backed up to a national forest. It was a cool fall day in mid November, we decided we'd try our luck at deer hunting as our family freezer was getting a little low on venison. We liked to use a nice wooded ridge on the Southern side of the woods that overlooked a nice grassy clearing towards the North. This meant we'd be downwind of any possible deer grazing on this grassy area, as on this day, there was a calm breeze from the North. We sat with our backs against a couple of huge beautiful old growth oak trees. Grandpa respected the old growth trees on his property and taught us to respect them as well. We never harvested lumber or firewood from them unless they fell over in a storm or from disease. Anyway, there we were sitting under these old trees just quietly scanning the woods, waiting for a good sized buck to walk into this clearing. What happened next, I still can't believe to this day. If it wasn't for the confirmation from my cousin Jake, I would have shrugged it off as a hallucination or a bad dream. It started with the woods going completely quiet. I mean death quiet. No birds, no insects, no wind noise, nothing. It's as if someone or something hit the pause button. Jake looked over at me and whispered _"Do you hear that?"_ *"Hear what?"* I asked. _"Exactly! Nothin'! I don't hear nothin'!"_ he replied. Just then a loud crack erupted from the national forest side of the woods and Jake's eyes grew as big as saucers. It sounded like someone slammed the side of a tree with a Louisville Slugger. We both knew this was getting serious and in a hurry. Jake had his Dad's new 30-06 and I had Grandpa's old Winchester lever action 30-30. We raised our rifles and set our sights in the direction we believed the loud crack came from. I could hear my heart beating in my eardrums. The suspense was excruciating. I just wanted to get out of there, but Jake wanted to know what in the hell made that noise. To this day I wish we would've just got the hell out of there. After about 30 seconds that felt like an hour, we heard footsteps. Not hoofbeats but footsteps. Like a man running. You know, the seesaw pit pat bipedal rhythm of a human running. But this wasn't a man. It sounded like a damn bulldozer tearing through those woods. There was a smell in the air. I couldn't quite place it. Kind of like rotten meat mixed with sulphur. Closer and closer the sound got, louder and louder. It's as if this thing is about to pop out of the woods and into the clearing. My heart was in my throat, my mouth was dry and my hands were a sweaty, shaking mess. My brain is trying to rationalize what this damn thing is, but nothing fits. I'm frozen with fear. Just then the running stopped. My mind is screaming "RUN, you fool!" but my legs are like spaghetti, and I wasn't going to leave my cousin there by himself to face this abomination. No. Hell no! I'd rather die fighting, than do that. Ol' Jake was like a brother to me. I look over at Jake and he's got his right index finger up to his lips making the "shhh" sign. Then he points into the woods towards the North. *"I see it! I see it Jake!."* I whispered. Well, I guess this damned thing heard me, because it let out a earsplitting roar. Not a scream or a yell, but a damn roar. It sounded like a mix of a lion and an elephant. As it roared, the black mass we saw at the edge of the clearing, started to grow. The damned thing was standing up! Five feet, six feet, seven feet, eight feet, all the way up to what looked to be nine feet tall. It was at that point we knew exactly what it was. It was a damn...
Well, sounds like my wife is calling me for dinner. I'll finish my story later on.

Always get a chuckle when someone describes sasquatch or bigfoot as "half man, half animal". That's like saying a tiger is half feline, half animal. Humans, like tigers, are both animals.

I was on the south-western side of the island though, opposite from Klemtu, so no activity... just some big wolf prints in the sand. I want to get in some good hikes next year to check things out, the Olympics sound interesting, or there are some areas in BC I also want to investigate.

Another fantastic and thoughtful video, thank you. Watching your videos fuels my burning desire to return to the USA and Canada and to engage with the countries and people, traditions and stories, they leave with a pleasant feeling of mild jealousy.. I always click .ike wishing your videos were longer and this one is no exception. Thank you once more.

I have been watching you guys all late summer it has been amazing what you guys have photographed, I've been to BC and I've been to those mountains are absolutely beautiful, but one thing about squashing, it takes you into some of the most amazing places, I have really enjoyed looking at the backcountry and the waterfalls and I'm going Envy, you may not get the Bigfoot stuff but that's part of it I enjoy watching you guys in the backcountry, and I've had my encounter, and I will be blunt it was a little spooky for me.

I thought this was one of the cooler shows you guys have done in a while! I’ve always wanted to go to Bella coola since I was a kid when I saw it on a hunting show. I was actually talking to my mom the day before about this place. It would be really awesome to see you guys stay in Nahanni valley some day and cover all those stories!
