it's Something ive noticed with Star Wars, the fanbase is great, the Lore is great, the dedicated people who put hundreds of hours into making game assets are great, but the people who make production plans are horrible and ruin the experince for everyone, its not just the games either, its the movies too, clearly there's demand for it but they think they know better, who tf asked for battlefield 2042
Yeah this has become extremely apparent ever since Disney took over. Like Rebels was great and Rogue One is peak Star Wars, but nothing else good has really come out of the franchise besides Andor.
It's because all the capitalists on top see in Star Wars is $$$$. They want to minimize effort, and maximize profit, that's what they do. They have no emotional connection to the series. It leaves us fans starved for content, and desperate, which makes us buy whatever dreg they allow to be made. Passionate devs are curtailed constantly, money siphoned, and eventually the passion is lost, and the game dies.
Ngl I have like 3months of time played on Battlefield 2042. But I would do ANYTHING to have scraped that and bring more life to Battlefront 2. There's really no reason this game doesn't deserve a massive amount of attention. It's literally what Star Wars fans wanted and still want. So now what...we wait for them to recreate another Battlefront when they already had the means to make it better? Smfh.
We have like 12 Battlefield games. We don't have many triple A Star Wars games. And if they had just sold skins I would have bought them - playing Clone Wars era modes with fully voiced Delta squad Republic Commandos, Magnaguards for droid commandos, B1A droid jet troopers and Ahsoka Tano for Rey and Mace Windu for Luke really adds to the immersion.
I would of loved all game modes to be playable solo with ai and Co-op, like having galatic assault with ai offline couch co-op would of been sick what could of been
Personally, I wanted a little more focus on the non-hero combat. More guns, gadgets, that sort of thing. A No Hero mode in particular would have been most welcome, for those of us who just love infantry and vehicle combat.
I can still remember watching that final community update. And I can remember that I actually cried. A lot of us stuck by this game in its darkest days, to see it rise, to see it mostly shake of the lootbox stigma. To see fan favourite additions be added. It is still the game I have the most hours on, even though I have only played it irregularly for three years or so. I have so many memories with friends. The community, the devs, the game’s strong suits and the game’s flaws. Anakin being a brand new addition (I’d have loved if they had an event, once a year, where Anakin was is overpowered version again, maybe on Hayden’s birthday or something). I remember I made hero and reinforcement concepts for myself, for so many characters. Taking a peek at how the game was structured and trying to mimic it myself. I know it’s incredibly geeky, but that’s just what I am at times. Add the fact that a lot of new Star Wars content has really disappointed me and just Disney still handling the franchise the way they do. I don’t know… I’m just getting more apathetic to the franchise as a whole. There are other fantasy and sci-fi worlds that occupy my mind more, including ones I have made myself. I think I just value Star Wars less and less overall, though I do cherish the content I do love. And I have a couple of novels at the ready for my reading pleasure. That said, I alternate them with other series, such as Brandon Sanderson’s first Mistborn trilogy, at the moment. And I still want to read a song of ice and fire. And I write my own stories. Star Wars… I love it still, but it’s just being shoved towards the rear end of my mindspace.
I loved battlefront 2. When it got canceled, I shut of my xbox and didn’t play the game again until months later. This video makes me sad, but I do have hope that sometime in the future that the Star Wars leaders will realize the pain that their fans have and come together and give us the Battlefront 3 we deserve. We have to have hope!
I remember I played it so much but when I heard it was cancelled I immediately uninstalled it. I was so angry. I've reinstalled it here and there and played a few games and then just uninstalled it again. It isn't the same.
Here’s something interesting: I mod battlefront 2, and was searching through the voice files and I found two voice files labeled “Ashoka” (it’s misspelled like this in the files) and “Padme” how close we were to actually having them in the game :(
@@droidy365 I tried to port the voices over the FO officer (since that was what I was modding at the time), but in the game it was just a clone trooper’s voice. I don’t think there were any actual lines, more just a folder for when they were actually adding in voice lines
I don't think i was ever obsessed with a multiplayer game this much, TF2 aside. BF2 brought me so much joy, and the time between the launch of the game and it's end in 2021 was the best time of my life. Each update was like a holiday, i really wish they'd stick to it and deliver till the very end of EA-Star wars deal... 90% of the cancelation reasons was just "Not enough resources" Did EA gave them a total budget of 2.66$ or something??
You know what they should've done? Leave a small team that works on anything in their reach for the game as long as they have the time and money for it, but they should make "competitions" every few months about new units and maps that fans and modders can apply to and the winning mod gets to go into the game officially. This way the devs don't need to do much map and character work other than polishing and modders get exposure.
I would have loved to see more factions and maps that have specific unique factions, for example mandalorians, umbarans, geonosians, and possibly old republic content.
I would've wanted more jedi and villain characters from different eras and a few new maps. Honestly I think that fans can make a fantastic Battlefront 3 and take it by storm. The only thing is that with all the crazy stuff going on in the world right now it would be difficult for the fans and others joining them to make it would have a hard time keeping the revenue or even the rights cuz we all know what would happen. And its sad. But We will hope and pray for a battle front 3 that can deliver and have more resources put into it than battlefront 2. For the republic
God, Andor content would’ve been so much fun. Ferrix map, Aldhani, and Narkina-5 maps, Cassian and Syril as heroes, the MW-20 Bryar pistol as a weapon, Imperial Army skins, god, I would’ve paid good money for that.
man it just makes me so sad seeing this. hearing the reasons ea cancelled the game pisses me off so much. genuinely i feel like if ea did announce a continuation of bf2 or even a bf3 they would make so much money which seems to be the execs' driving motive anyway. the treatment ea has given this game from launch and then to its cancellation baffles me. at least the devs got to do a bit of what they wanted before ea pulled the plug
@@goonagun yeah bf1 and 2 were my first exposures to ea games that weren’t from their sports line lol I wasn’t aware they were such a bad company until 2020
what Id want added is melee suport characters like the manga gaurd and the clone assassins added. They'd each get access to a sidearm and would be able to sprint across the battlefield quickly. To balance this the ISB agent would get access to Agent Calus's transforming electro gun staff we see in rebels, and the rebels would get a dualwielding electro sticks kinda like what we see in the force unleashed on something like the purge troopers in jedi fallen order/survivor. Also Id want a better customization for weapons as well as more throable options for standard class units, as well as cosmetic options that can be used on the battlefield like night vision goggles, or helmet mounted binoculars and or target acquisition mods for helmets and hats.
I was holding out hope for Ki-Adi-Mundi and Zam Wessel (a shapeshifting demolitionist sniper sounded wild to me...sorta like a bothan spy but one that could mimick enemy units for a time and sow discord into the enemy backlines just sounds super unique), the B-Wing, Z-95 and TIE Defender, playable Crab Droids and more Hunt modes, and if possible a mode that is like the speeder chase tutorial mission or at least a stage of a larger mode. As far as maps go, I had a thing for both Rhen Varr maps and Naboo Plains, but also going to new wild and environmentally hostile places like Gamorr and the dark claustrophobic dens of the lower or even just middle levels of Coruscant
There has to be a way to bring it back. As a community and as a fandom, we can't just let this happen to a game we hold so near and dear to our hearts. We can't just stand by, we have to rebel like the alliance. For the Republic!
It's 2014, you are a star wars fan disappointed that there will be no Battlefront 3. It's 2024, you are a star wars fan disappointed that there will be no Battlefront 3 again.
Not just greed, but what also feels like hubris & dismissal. I get the sense that the dev team was going to the higher-ups at EA telling them the changes & new content was bringing more players to the game, only to be told, "yeah, whatever, give them some scraps with what you can, since these dumb Star Wars fans will eat up anything you give them if you string them along right, but we're not gonna actually flesh out this game beyond 2019." Like they couldn't figure out the "magical formula" to getting Star Wars fans to spend lots of money, when all it would have taken was respecting the opinions of the dev team who knew the pulse of the fandom because they themselves were fans.
We had BB8 and another ball droid as heroes… they most definitely prioritized the sequels over the prequels. Sure we got a bunch of clone trooper skins, but is that really worth it? Imagine if they had enough lightsaber heroes and villains to have a separate mode to the blaster heroes and villains.
@@robloxrecroomenjoyerit's not dead, I can find any game mode within 3 minutes realistically. On weekends it's even better. If there was one thing that DICE would’ve added into Battlefront II, it would be The Mandalorian content. Imagine Din Djarin, Moff Gideon, and have Luke Skywalker’s hooded robe skin in the game.
Pretty sure the ahsoka dispute was because she wasn't in live action form when dice wanted to bring her out and it would've had a negative impact to the reception of having ahsoka finally appear in live action. It's not about them not wanting ahsoka to be everywhere, it's just them not wanting to reveal live action ahsoka through a video game.

Man, I wish we got private matches. That kyber mod thing is annoying, every single thing you do you have to completely quit out and relaunch. It's so tedious.
idk if it's because I'm in OCE but it only ever puts me in empty lobbies waiting for 15+ players. Co-op or the other modes incorporating ai are the only things ever really available to me
I feel like captain rex would not have been that hard, just use the dual wield from the original arc trooper so without the secondary fire and give him some grenades, health boost, some simple abilities
Thank you Andrew, for reminding us of all that Battlefront 2 has had happen. I agree with you, I've had many tears for this game, such great potential that wasn't given the live it deserved at its end.
Absolutely. I spent £80 on lootboxes around launch. I know not everyone can do this. But the inability for EA to monetise the game caused EA to pull support. If we, as a community had understood the financial implications and forgiven their avarice then we would probably still have a living game.
Nah that’s victim blaming right there. Mystery loot boxes are akin to online gambling and got outlawed for a reason. There are other less predatory monetization strategies they could have used that people would be fine with, they chose to take the easy path
What I misted wanted to see was a tv show based campaign (maybe as a second campaign not necessarily to replace the iden campaign) for example missions based off the geonosis arc, kamino, Felicia etc.
A game truly ahead of its time especially with graphics. Could you imagine all content being free and earnable in games you already spent 70-100 dollars on to buy like battlefront. Gaming would be in such a better and more fun spot
With the reinforcement jedi, just add detailed customisation with hairstyles/ different races, different robes and lightsabers so the player has their own Jedi, instead of having repetitive generic ones
My dream Battlefront game would be the fluidity and atmosphere of the EA battlefront games, with the gameplay of the OG Battlefront Games. That's literally all they need to do.
It's a shame things were so strict about lore that they couldn't even do fun silly stuff like generic jedi units for a special mode or clones vs empire/droids vs empire etc. Also as a player I always wondered why they didn't add more clone division variations and sell them we would be happy to support the game. No sketchy FOMO crazy overpriced shop psychological manipulation. Just do a battalion then sell it for $3-5. 442nd Siege Battalion $3 you buy it and get all the minor varriant skins for the battalion, rebel variant armor division for all four classes and looks $5 (you are really just changing the armor model), something more complicated but still somewhat simple like galactic marines $5 for the set (since it is mostly recolored snowtroopers). Sure you may only do like 5 or so different random packs but it would be something and people would be happy to support the game since they were happy. They would ideally still add free skins like ashoka's 332nd unit varriant but this minor bonus stuff would give some minor income.
Battlefront Plus makes me long for what could have been. SWBF 2017, for me all it needs; Apex Legends ping system and limited climb ability, SWBF+ weapons and characters and SWBF 2015 Cargo and Droid Run mode.
No Battlefront 3, Battlefront 2 premature cancellation, EA/DICE's dumb choices and wanting Battlefield to succeed more than Battlefront, and it was mostly a flop... and they haven't learnt a damn thing. I am still a bit depressed about it all.
I think the idea of generic paddiwans and Jedi knights as reinforcements are a really good idea for the Republic side they can also even it out for the separatists by adding grevouses guards
The final update always brings a tear to my heart a lot happend that day I remember logging on and my telling me and my siblings someone in my family passed away
The problem with EA BF2 was the loss of an income stream to pay for further development work. I thought they would just release a new full-priced version every two years (2015, 2017, ...) and was prepared to pay another US$70 when the Clone Wars content was announced. I guess I should have realized that getting that for free meant EA had given up on BF.
that moment when Dennis revealed general grievous, obi wan, count dooku, and anakin skywalker was so great. Not to mention Droidekas and the new capital supremacy mode were a dream come true. Still honestly one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Battlefront II had that balance between feeling like you're just another soldier AND also giving you enough power to make you feel like you're making a huge difference in the battle. Games with super high player counts just end up losing what games like Battlefront had. triple A titles need to stop pushing better graphics and higher player counts, and instead focus on actually interesting and fair gameplay. Yeah, Battlefront II isn't perfect for balance but it's pretty darn good.

That's just not true. There was public backlash sure, but you can't blame players for developers stopping development. @@theaces3697
@@theaces3697what do you mean? From what I’ve seen the community loved it. I loved this game and still do. I don’t know though, that’s just me.
@@theaces3697 The player base was massive, EA just wasn't making enough money
@@theaces3697 this is just not true,, the game was on its rise since the geonosis update and thats because they actually started caring about the game and actually adding content. they literally cancelled the game at its peak
it's Something ive noticed with Star Wars, the fanbase is great, the Lore is great, the dedicated people who put hundreds of hours into making game assets are great, but the people who make production plans are horrible and ruin the experince for everyone, its not just the games either, its the movies too, clearly there's demand for it but they think they know better, who tf asked for battlefield 2042
Passionate devs are curtailed constantly, money siphoned, and eventually the passion is lost, and the game dies.
fanbase great? load of this shit
I'm sorry, the fan base is great?
Nah the fanbase is absolutely horrible sorry to break it to you
Ngl I have like 3months of time played on Battlefield 2042. Smfh.
they should add a map editor to the game so that we can make the maps. imagine what Rhen var citadel would look like in this battlefront game.

This game was literally my childhood I’m so sad they stopped updating it 😢
Your childhood was 3 years ago? Christ I’m old…
@@jackryan444 Lol pretty sure it released a bit before that
Geez how old are you?
I belive it'll be 6 or 7 years old this year in October....
@@truthspitter8156 God damn I was 10 years old when it launched that's crazy
Here’s something interesting: I mod battlefront 2, and was searching through the voice files and I found two voice files labeled “Ashoka” (it’s misspelled like this in the files) and “Padme” how close we were to actually having them in the game :(
That's very interesting stuff! What were the voice files specifically? Dialogue?
@@droidy365 I tried to port the voices over the FO officer (since that was what I was modding at the time), but in the game it was just a clone trooper’s voice. I don’t think there were any actual lines, more just a folder for when they were actually adding in voice lines
there was a rumour we would get Ahsoka and Padme as heroes back in the day.
7:43 Goddamnit the nostalgia hit me like a truck on the highway. I miss those short skits from Battlefront 1.
Every single time I even hear BF2 I just think “the biggest heartbreak of last gen gaming” could’ve been SO DAMN GOOD. God. I hate it
This game had such amazing potential. Sadly most companies like this just forget about their games
I litterally just bought this game a week ago, and i thought th e bad news was the server is now permently down for online, nearly had heart attack
I have played this game since it first came out and I still play it it saddens me that these ideas may never get used at all
You know what they should've done? Leave a small team that works on anything in their reach for the game as long as they have the time and money for it, but they should make "competitions" every few months about new units and maps that fans and modders can apply to and the winning mod gets to go into the game officially. This way the devs don't need to do much map and character work other than polishing and modders get exposure.
>No Battlefront 3
>*Laughs in Galactic Contention*
Pretty much. Lol
A galactic conquest like in the older games ( battlefront 1 & 2) for the newer battlefront 2
Gotta love how EA gets the rights to Star Wars games, only to make no Star Wars games
If EA wasn’t so annoying with stopping dice’s massive ambition because of money battlefront would be so good
Battlefront 3 is a cursed title. It never gets made for some reason even with the classics
Almost gave me heart attack thinking the servers where shutting down 😭
Fr, I had to leave the game I was playing
It's fun hearing all the characters that were planned for the game. Especially the random side characters,.
God, Andor content would’ve been so much fun. Ferrix map, Aldhani, and Narkina-5 maps, Cassian and Syril as heroes, the MW-20 Bryar pistol as a weapon, Imperial Army skins, god, I would’ve paid good money for that.
A Luthen character addition would have gone hard af
Pretty sure Imperial Agent has the face of Padme.
man it just makes me so sad seeing this. hearing the reasons ea cancelled the game pisses me off so much. genuinely i feel like if ea did announce a continuation of bf2 or even a bf3 they would make so much money which seems to be the execs' driving motive anyway. the treatment ea has given this game from launch and then to its cancellation baffles me. at least the devs got to do a bit of what they wanted before ea pulled the plug
You clearly don’t know EA
There isn't LOL. It's dead.
@thefirstcurse3123 way to bring up moral pal
I thought the servers were getting shut down😭 You scared me bro
They could literally open it back up with a massive update and get half their fans back

It's 2024, you are a star wars fan disappointed that there will be no Battlefront 3 again.
A minor OT update with some skins and more maps would've been dope. I would've killed for some more StormTrooper skins
Short story is greed we'll never get a truly passionate game from this company because the executives are too greedy for their own good
Not just greed, but what also feels like hubris & dismissal.
Literally just bought the game

If there was one thing that DICE would’ve added into Battlefront II, it would be The Mandalorian content. Imagine Din Djarin, Moff Gideon, and have Luke Skywalker’s hooded robe skin in the game.
I have been crying about Star Wars Battlefront 3 since Disney canceled the first one. 😭
I love battlefront 2 so much. Its sad they are not going to be doing anymore updates
What's up my bro finally you uploaded
Pretty sure the ahsoka dispute was because she wasn't in live action form when dice wanted to bring her out and it would've had a negative impact to the reception of having ahsoka finally appear in live action. It's not about them not wanting ahsoka to be everywhere, it's just them not wanting to reveal live action ahsoka through a video game.
I think any game devs who are tasked to make a battlefront game find themselves cursed because we have never once gotten a 3rd battle front.
I wish respawn or someone just took charge of something, there's a huge Community even if the game is dead too try too lift it back from the grave it has so much Potential for people too tap into it but it's just sad that people don't make the battle front 2 live again or a battle front 3
If I could add one thing to BFII, I would add Darth Jar Jar
Man, I wish we got private matches. That kyber mod thing is annoying, every single thing you do you have to completely quit out and relaunch. It's so tedious.
I'm definitely gonna be crying😭
idk if it's because I'm in OCE but it only ever puts me in empty lobbies waiting for 15+ players. Co-op or the other modes incorporating ai are the only things ever really available to me

The main reason why bf2 was discontinued was because they wanted to work more on battlefield 2042 🤮🤮
Absolutely. I spent £80 on lootboxes around launch. I know not everyone can do this.
But the inability for EA to monetise the game caused EA to pull support. If we,
as a community had understood the financial implications and forgiven their avarice then we would probably still have a living game.
Nah that’s victim blaming right there. Mystery loot boxes are akin to online gambling and got outlawed for a reason. There are other less predatory monetization strategies they could have used that people would be fine with, they chose to take the easy path
DLCs for new maps or certain skins costing money woulda worked
What I misted wanted to see was a tv show based campaign (maybe as a second campaign not necessarily to replace the iden campaign) for example missions based off the geonosis arc, kamino, Felicia etc.
A game truly ahead of its time especially with graphics. Could you imagine all content being free and earnable in games you already spent 70-100 dollars on to buy like battlefront. Gaming would be in such a better and more fun spot
I have so many credits I have no idea what to use it for .
Battle front 3 had soooooooo much potential it could have been game of the year
When he said there was plans for crossplay, my heart actually sank :(
Another problem is not all content is playable for single player, like galactic assault
With the reinforcement jedi, just add detailed customisation with hairstyles/ different races, different robes and lightsabers so the player has their own Jedi, instead of having repetitive generic ones
They really need to try for battlefront 3 now that we have consoles like the ps5 that can handle what they wanted to do and what the fans wanted.
My dream Battlefront game would be the fluidity and atmosphere of the EA battlefront games, with the gameplay of the OG Battlefront Games.
That's literally all they need to do.
I’m still waiting for an old Ben skin for obi wan

It really sucks knowing so many people want a game like this and they just wont make it.
I miss you and your updates man, they were the best moments to look forward to
The final update always brings a tear to my heart a lot happend that day I remember logging on and my telling me and my siblings someone in my family passed away

No mace windu... no padme,no jango ,no qui gon ,no cad bane..
Honestly it’s so depressing that we never got a mace windo - jengo fett update 😕
that moment when Dennis revealed general grievous, obi wan, count dooku, and anakin skywalker was so great.
I think the issue with Ahsoka wss they didnt use a grandma for the motion capture to better match the life action Ahsoka in the show.
As a PC player who couldn't find any matches the few times he tried after the game was cancelled
