I love how part one has 240k views, and Part Two has 85k views. So many people are like: "screw it... I aint got da skilz for that"
OOH so i always noticed that Ducati Key in your videos! Great to know you do not only work on electronics yourself but also your bikes! Greetings from a long time subscriber from Germany!
People kept telling me "Don't get a Ducati! They're too MVP maintenance! They'll charge you thousands a year to work on your bike!" Like screw that this looks easy as hell. Great, informative video. Time to buy that two valve monster I've been looking at for weeks!
great vid thanks for sharing! you forget to tight up the number2 bolt on the gasket.
well done! I don't ride a Ducati, but stopped by to check your vid.
While this doesn't seem that complicated, it definitely has convinced me to send my bike to the dealer to get this done...
Thank you for posting this very informative clip. Btw, also thank you for the nice Keihin carbs I bought from you last summer. Still have to mount the lightened Flywheel, but the carbs bring a big smile to my face every time I ride my baby :-) Grretings from Berlin, Germany! Jens
Yes, and if you push down REAL HARD, you bend things and can get more clearance, which gives improper reading. Best to not use lots of force.
Nice work Chris!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
excellent video. but why did you not torque up the final cover retaining bolt. LOL only kidding.
Yep someday we will, but it is on the back burner at the moment.
Good vid.
this is an old video, however do you remember what size feeler gauge were you using @ 1:25 min on this video?
thank you
You didn't torque top right allen screw
Always gotta be the smart one. 😁
Good vid. You don't plug the oil return holes to keep them from swallowing a dropped collet?
Sometimes, I'll put down a rag. I didn't drop a keeper in there once. It showed up on the drain plug's magnet...
At 0:30 you said that you have 2000 of an inch under the closing rocker arm. What i don't understand is that it seems like that 2000 of an inch varies on how much you push down with the screw driver. Is this correct? by the way thank you very much for you videos
is there any way to do it without takin the belt off?
Re the opening clearance. Mine differs when I insert the spring clip, it closes up as much as 2 thou. Should the opening measurements be taken with the spring clip in place or removed?
That's odd. Probably removed. I'd assume that when the parts are moving around, they will overcome the spring force the clip has.
How about making a video showing how to adjust the valves of a four valve ducati, and how to inspect the rockers...
New to Ducati Community, Scramber Sixty2...
So for an L-twin Ducati, there will be two more valves to adjust as well?
This video only shows 2 valves from one cylinder. Please help with my noob question.
Of course. He's only showing how to do it. Air cooled Ducs have two valves per cylinder (that's a total of 4). Superbikes have four valves per cylinder (that's, generally, 8 total)
so this feels like a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyway. when you're freely moving around the cam, will it only go back together the correct way? my only concern with doing this the way you show is that I might mess up the timing
dainjahrus yes it will, remember it’s governed by the belt. Which has not been removed.
The question I have is. When it can vary so much depending how hard you push down on the closing arm, It’s then acceptable to let it go 1000th over recommended tolerance. How crucial is it?
It varies because the parts bend. The only real crucial thing is that you're not trying to stretch the valve.
Hi,
Iv got a problem with my opening rocker shim...it is extra large...I need 6.75m. or 6.80mm.I wonder if the rocker arm has a warn lob...can't find a shim that big here in the UK.Anyone?
Honestly, while people think we have lots of experience ... it isn't across hundreds of customers' motorcycles. So there is knowledge, sure, but not the wisdom to explain how you'd need a thicker shim. -Krista
I am not looking forward to doing this my self on my Ducati Monster. No work shops in my state do vavle adjustment on Ducatis so I have to do it myself. :(
how did it go?
Ta!
This job requires premium feeler gauges. Those cheap chinese from the ebay would mess everything up
If you push hard on anything, the results are all going to be wrong anyway. Thus if the cheap ones are soft, it's a built in fail safe for gorilla hands.
