REPOST from another video. Mr. Qualls, you are a blessed man to have had such an awesome father. My dad was about the same age as yours and many a night I wished he had done what yours did and special ordered a MOPAR, but alas he was a Chevy guy (if I stilll had the Corvair he bought went he left the Army or the Malibu my mother wrecked one night or even the A-body Olds Cutlass or my stepmother's Monza that was my first car). His last project was a Model A Coupe that he bought to piddle with between hunting season. When he was in the hospital ill with sepsis from a botched cancer surgery he gave it to my son, and it took 5+ years, but it is road worthy now. I can't help but think what a precious gift he left you (and I mean more than just the car) that you get to share with your son. God Bless and happy motoring. If you ever make it to a show in NC I hope I am fortunate enough to stare at it in wonder.

And this is EXACTLY how I would've ordered this car too in 1970, besides the Vinyl top. Just have never really liked vinyl tops on any car. But man what a beauty. It's just bad to the bone
The Black Ghost. GQ was a legend in Detroit for good reason; he may have been the super nice office Qualls on the beat but once or twice a year he was in the alleys snapping necks and cashing checks. Amazing one off car that could be shown in a museum. The poster child of rare with a provenance that is unmatched. I so respect the son sharing it with his son and passing it down to him. So cool.

that car is the reason why the challenger got the shaker hood in mid 1970 ...the car was ordered with a shaker hood but was delivered with a ralleye hood so he sued chrysler and ended up getting a shaker hood and shaker etc which is still not put on the car but is in the garage ...the presidant of chrysler said to all dealers mid 1970 that yes the challenger now will have a shaker hood , this car is a legend in many ways

Great story he's a good guy and you can tell getting the Challenger running again for his father meant a lot to him by the emotion he showed when he talked about it. Ive heard several stories about that car over the years. They made it down to Louisville. A friend's order brother was talking about it, or racing, drag racing, something. In my late 40s now, but the first time i recall hearing about it i couldn't have been 10 years old. Cool to be able to tell your kids about how cool their grandad was. That car is kinda legendary, no general lee, thats because its real. Which to me, would make it so much more badass then its orange counterpart, (still the love the general) but the general was an actor, the black ghost was a real dude. It should to be in a museum, there are 100s of stories, some probably not remembered correctly for legends sake, but none the less, that car was "feared" in Detroit back in the day as far as drag racing goes.Throw them slicks on and leave em spinning, ghost be halfway home by the time other guy got off the line. Its a treasure. One day, when I'm rich, I'll make him an offer he can't refuse. Or something, I'll be rich, I'll figure something out. God bless us everyone!

The owners father had an excellent taste in cars I must say. Man what a lucky kid..... I'd have a huge grin too if I knew a 70 Hemi Challenger R/T was going to be mine someday. And this is EXACTLY how I would've ordered this car too in 1970, besides the Vinyl top. Just have never really liked vinyl tops on any car. But man what a beauty. It's just bad to the bone
Hi Jeremy Thompson, "It's just bad to the bone" Well said :-) Lou
The Black Ghost. GQ was a legend in Detroit for good reason; he may have been the super nice office Qualls on the beat but once or twice a year he was in the alleys snapping necks and cashing checks. Amazing one off car that could be shown in a museum. The poster child of rare with a provenance that is unmatched. I so respect the son sharing it with his son and passing it down to him. So cool.
