At least I know how to clean my own Digimon vpat as well thank you for the tip how to clean it up mine's really old is from 1999 I got it from a charity shop it's still works but it needs cleaning
To start, are you using cheap batteries? These devices will eat through cheap batteries like the ones from a dollar store. I recommend energizer lithium they seem to last the longest for me. If that's not the issue, then you might want to open it up and clean the battery connections. I hope this helps 😁🤘
Sometimes, it's something as simple as the screws need to be tightened. The srceen might not be in the correct position, and it needs to be adjusted. There's more things that it could be, but I would start with that.

You are right those OG pendulums are a pain to work on. I refuse to do any DIY on them as a result. Too scared of breaking them.
