You've captured part of the addictive side of being an emergency responder. That level of connection and intimacy that you get working with other responders and helping both survivors and non-survivors from during emergencies is amazing.
I wrote a paper on this speech about a year ago. My favorite part of this speech was when she mentions her legs. The first time I watched this I didn't notice until she pointed it out. I was stunned
Wow. So sad that anyone could do something like this. Deepest sympathies to Gill, other survivors, and the friends and families of those lost in the attack.
My deepest and profound respect and love to Gill Hicks. In this short TEDx talk Gill shares her story of surviving the London bombing - as a human being. Her story, her inspiration, her courage, and her deep humanity are important to us all. What she has done since is also: Gill today is involved in practical peacebuilding, working to overcome violence, divisions and intolerance, and to engage, encourage and inspire people to work for peace and abolish war. I am honoured to consider her a friend, and excited that she will be joining us at the Global Youth Rising 2016 International Youth Peace Forum together with so many amazing and inspiring activists, practitioners and peace workers from around the world. Thank you Gill Hicks. For your voice. Your courage. Your work and inspiration. For your humanity. We look forward to seeing you and being together for Global Youth Rising 2016, and together working for a movement to overcome war and violence everywhere.
Gill, I just watched you on Ahn's show on the ABC and was moved to learn more about you. It took tremendous courage to survive what you did. But the most courage is in making the decision and then taking the action to stand up for peace and love. It would have been far easier to do nothing. Thank you. I am a proud Australian.
Gill, you are incredible and I am so humbled. Thank you, thank you, nurturing love in human beings is the only way forward. So that we may never do hateful things to each due to a label that strips away anyone's humanity. We are all precious, and you are so very wonderful !
Very strong moving talk and total respect from me for your ability to share your wonderful journey with such tender clarity, I was close to tears on a couple of occasions while watching. I do have a small difference of opinion when you talk about unconditional love and respect being a solution to all though, Love very rarely wins but merely exists alongside the horrors that are born in our world. I deeply believe that all souls are capable of doing truly wicked things and that each soul needs to work hard to be loving and true and good, to think or believe that all souls can love unconditionally is folly and a very bad premise. We need to have a realistic look at the problems in our small world and stop worrying about what might be right or wrong to say and deal with the real issues we all sweep under the carpet.Maybe I didn't understand or misread what you were expressing. If all souls on this planet were like you, It would truly be a place that I would love to live but I know that this is not reality. It makes me smile and beam to see you speak as this is how you change minds, exactly this.
To all a job is a job, no matter what the job. Love and hate are nothing but concepts. The same as jobs and labels are. Why are we inspired by someone who loses? Realise new borns are all the same, no matter race or religion, we fill them with concepts that are ours. Our concepts and ideas are the real destructive force!
To elieve h enemy doe not exist is a failure to be noticeable. That is n excuse the predator seeks a refuge to be not so identifiable. The less noticed is the hih mountain or the vbush croucged and ready to take advantage, to be fed. Those fears hold us from childhood or when the predator became one of us. The need of a success to take advange of. Twisted and probably recognizable against a presume eenemy om which I will take advanttage of. Belief is not thought, belief is a deeper understandof "us".
I don't like the fact that this woman, who should be teaching a lesson of humanity, seems here to take advantage of being in a TEDx Talk to talk about herself: "Look at me, the terrorist thought I was anybody, but I'm not just anybody, I'm the CEO of a designing company, and I'm strong since I've survived, and I'm humane since I've helped others". She doesn't seem humble at all here. She was not the right person for this TEDx Talk.
I had the pleasure of meeting Gill in 2007. She has more grace and peace than I have in my little finger.

An amazing, brave and inspirational lady - feel very humble listening to her powerful words, God Bless x

There should be more "like" for her emotional talk about humanity and love.

Thank you, Gill, for your beautiful testimony! Love in response to hate, that's the only thing that will save us! You are an inspiration!
Love you Gill, your message is an elevator. Thank you for sharing it so genuinely.
This is absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately it’s actions that speak a lot louder than words and very sadly I don’t see much change
Wishing a lot of love to you, thanks for sharing your story
Very tough situation. Prayers for you.
