This year's product includes a full year of debuts including those in the 2nd half of 2023 (after update was produced), where last year it was only for half a season. It will probably be around the 250 number going forward.
I haven't bought 1 thing of topps chrome mlb. I like the topps mlb update hangers they are giving some hits out and not too over priced. I pulled s bobby witt jr. Relic /25 from 2 hangers and most of the top rookies.
I've sat this one out. I've picked up fanatics boxes of regular update because at $30 I don't feel like I'm getting totally ripped off. Also, now that Holiday is out I've bought some of that. I'd rather open $200 dollars worth of Holiday megaboxes than a single hobby of Topps Chrome Update....its just far more enjoyable.
Agree it’s cringe watching breakers freak out over pulling high numbered parallels. Even worse when its parallels of parallels - raywaves, speckles, pulsars - basically no better than base refractors at that point.
Love the design, trying to complete the base set to complete my topps' sets for 2024, and hope to get good parallel and insert stuff along the way but do not fault anyone for avoiding this set..seriously most of the rookies were already in regular Chrome set and chasing the debut patches is fun but you have a better chance of winning the lottery
One of your furnaces went out! Man how big of a place do you own? Forced scarcity is always a sign of bad things ahead. It appears to me the hobby has developed into a gambling activity.
Why can't we have a single product that has both chrome and paper instead of separating into two or three different products. Always find it weird with topps and then topps chrome then topps sapphire ect.
At 3:50, you said there are debut patches for people that "never played in the majors, probably never going to." The entire point is that this patch is worn during the player's first ever game *in the majors*. There are plenty of content creators, including your friend NEO, who are thorough and honest that was is ridiculously priced based on the odds of getting a real hit, so, you're not alone at thinking this is, for the vast majority of people, a waste of money if you are hoping for a killer hit.
All I meant by that comment is that many of these prospects will never see any real time or success in the majors. Will they actually play in an MLB game? Yes. Will all of them have a meaningful career? No, not even close. I don't always mean things so literally, just my style
@@TheSportsCardDad So, I get the point that of the 250 debut patches, there are probably only say 25 "golden tickets" that may generate a windfall. But, I think hitting a debut patch of some 30 year old reliever is still a pretty phenomenal hit and I am sure reaching out to that player directly would provide some form of amazing experience / interaction, I am sure the players are super intrigued about seeing these and potentially getting them for themselves. But saying they "never played in the majors" just sounds weird when that is the entire point of the card; which you stated is a really cool thing, and I think we all agree on that.
Got lucky bought into one break hit the Paul Skenes Gold Diamond Debut card and flip it for 500 right away! Plus all the base and refractors of him. Seen guys who spent 400 on jumbo breaks for him and hit nothing! It all luck!
I had to crank my heat up last night. Anyway, the 1 of 1 patch cards are to blame for LCS's and consigners are driving this hobby into the ground. When Jumbo Chrome is being flipped for $800, no thanks.
I think after watching the past 4 years of the cardboard industry on many UA-cam videos and owning 1 box of cards sealed in the case since 1989 worth 9 dollars on eBay currently that we so thankful we went into other Physical Alterative Assets beginning in 1993 that are not affected (as of yet) by consumer funds, whims or trends. God be with the cardboard world going forward, unless of course they can get the majority of the male youth into cards, heck even comics, please stop grading those comic books, how are the youth going to experience what is inside of them by viewing the cover, we need interaction with these products. I do not mind the card grading we even have many graded coins because you can still enjoy them. Well, that is this old man's thoughts as I watch the cardboard industry slide back into reality. Lance.
The biggest one i seen is those NBA Hoops Mega boxes that no one heard about and were sold out before the general public had a chance to get one but every influencer was getting god boxes.d....this whole buisness is one big scam....
I bought one hobby for $225 and one blaster for $50, $5 auto, doubles off center. Then I bought off eBay 200 card lot no dupes with color, parellels inserts for $75. Stadium club is great value! I’ve hit autos out of fat packs
I have one big gripe with RGL, and it's that he really doesn't do his research at all when doing some of these videos, especially baseball. Literally a 5 minute perusal of beckett could give him extremely valuable information that could really help collectors. Football/Basketball ect, there's much less info out there. Topps? They literally lay out the checklist, odds and everything out there. It takes 5 minutes to make a good video better. He just lags behind some of the really good baseball guys on UA-cam like the guys on Spitballin' Cards.
Spitballin cards tells you to only buy the cards they like. Scottie B did a video about grading service and also posted his link that he is sponsored by PSA lol.
I do research and know products front to back. What I don't do is spend hours recording one video and then meticulously cut it up so there are 20 different cuts in editing in order for me to give a perfect 2 minute narrative like virtually every other creator in the space does. Nothing against it, and I pay an editor who would have no problem with the content direction going in that format, it's just not for me. Everything on my channel is recorded in one take, and presented that way so it can be a true representation of how I feel as if we were speaking one-on-one and not a finely crafted perfect message. If I leave out information, or accidently slip up, or say something incorrect, you get the true, authentic me, an imperfect human and creator. I don't do the checklist deep-dives intentionally because other creators do that type of content much better than I ever could. I am creating content knowing I have 60,000 viewers and reach a much larger, general, broad audience. Appreciate the critical feedback.
Off centered card's, damaged card's coming out of modern packs is killing the hobby. All modern cards should be a PSA 9 at minimum. It's better to just buy singles already graded.
Please explain how this is any different than any other Topps Chrome release? This was a 9 minute nothingburger video. Topps Chrome will always sell like crazy out of the gate. It’s literally the number one baseball product in terms of collectibility and value. Basically everyone who collects baseball at all collects Topps Chrome.
I don't understand why people in the hobby are so brainwashed when it comes to these influencers telling them what to do. They are promoting this product to get the average collector to go out and buy it, when in reality all the big cards are sitting in the boxes that they have in there own shops. The Skenes 1/1 Debut patch will be pulled by a huge breaker like Layton and The Backyard Girls who are sponsored by Topps and Fanatics.
It's amazing to me how a person could go to any gas station in the 1970's and buy a deck of playing cards for les than $1 and nearly every card in the deck would grade a PSA 9 or better. Buy a deck or buy a whole truck load of decks of playing cards everyday for a year in the 70's - all PSA 9 or better. Meanwhile companies like Topps, let's just pick a year- 1975. Look at those 1975 Topps former MVP cards, specifically card #206 with Denny McLain and Bob Gibson as MVP's. The card itself shows the 1968 cards of Gibson and McLain and both of these cards are off center as part of the card design. Neither of the cards in the design would grade a 10, maybe not even a PSA 9. And they are an actual design approved by the company for release to the public. I think this card sort of mocks the card collectors. It's a very interesting concept to promote a design of a badly printed card as part of a set of two former MVP's. That's kinda gutsy in a way and also shows how acceptable it is to Topps and the public, many years ago.
Great video on this subject, well done. Never chase product, not in this over inflated product world, collect what you like and can afford and that's it. Peace and Good Luck
Don't think Skenes has been pulled yet , there's been some fake posts but don't think it actually has.. You and RGL are 2 of the few honest people in the hobby

FYI there were like 94 MLB Debut patch autos last year, this year there are 251.
This year's product includes a full year of debuts including those in the 2nd half of 2023 (after update was produced), where last year it was only for half a season. It will probably be around the 250 number going forward.
Wait! They overcharge for a box and we get 1/10 value in return? Let’s hope this is a one time thing. Homerun sarcasm
I'm sick of hearing about chrome!!!
I'm influenced by Hank, Jackie, Willie and Mickey. Nuff said
I've been seeing people complaining about the quality control, it's just horrible.
Your a nfluencer as well man, but I agree breaking is for suckers
And breakers taking advantage while they can
I haven't bought 1 thing of topps chrome mlb. I like the topps mlb update hangers they are giving some hits out and not too over priced. I pulled s bobby witt jr. Relic /25 from 2 hangers and most of the top rookies.

Appreciate the vote of confidence as always.
Nice plug for ya James🎉
Agree it’s cringe watching breakers freak out over pulling high numbered parallels. Even worse when its parallels of parallels - raywaves, speckles, pulsars - basically no better than base refractors at that point.
Crying out like little sissies too
Love the design, trying to complete the base set to complete my topps' sets for 2024, and hope to get good parallel and insert stuff along the way but do not fault anyone for avoiding this set..seriously most of the rookies were already in regular Chrome set and chasing the debut patches is fun but you have a better chance of winning the lottery
Agreed, great card design
One of your furnaces went out! Man how big of a place do you own?
Forced scarcity is always a sign of bad things ahead. It appears to me the hobby has developed into a gambling activity.
Do the slab mags scratch up easily?
Not in my experience, no
For 25 bucks a piece, they better not.
RGL is my go to also for reality, not pump.
Influencers gonna do what influencers gonna do!!!!!

Couldn't agree more with what you said!
Can these boxes be weighed or xrayed to see if they contain one of these first game patches?
Nope
Good job! Every time I watch your videos I watch the whole thing. Run Good Life is a great channel as well, nice props!
Got lucky bought into one break hit the Paul Skenes Gold Diamond Debut card and flip it for 500 right away! Plus all the base and refractors of him. Seen guys who spent 400 on jumbo breaks for him and hit nothing! It all luck!
RGL does it the right way all the time everytime. i dont normally buy into breaks but when i do its a dos equis
I had to crank my heat up last night. Anyway, the 1 of 1 patch cards are to blame for LCS's and consigners are driving this hobby into the ground. When Jumbo Chrome is being flipped for $800, no thanks.

I'm pretty sure debut patch is from a MLB debut.
You forgot to say ohhhh mmyyyyyy gooodddd that’s a tessssllllaaaaaaaaa lol….. I can’t stand the influencers like that!
😝
Fanatics is getting rich by ruining the hobby!
The biggest one i seen is those NBA Hoops Mega boxes that no one heard about and were sold out before the general public had a chance to get one but every influencer was getting god boxes.d....this whole buisness is one big scam....
I spent my chrome update money on another signed 86 Topps Jerry Rice last night
I like ripping... I thought mega boxes were decent value. hobby, jumbo and breakers are too expensive. I did ok on the one hobby box I opened
Blasters and hangers. Best value.
There’s actually a debut patch for every RC in update
So 200+
Elly was in a breakers delight, I know that the big ones are not in cheaper products
I bought one hobby for $225 and one blaster for $50, $5 auto, doubles off center. Then I bought off eBay 200 card lot no dupes with color, parellels inserts for $75. Stadium club is great value! I’ve hit autos out of fat packs
I just love 24’s design best looking cards since 2014
Even if a couple hundred, still stand by my comments
A fools game for sure

I don't understand how the "Hidden Gems" cards don't command more $ if an MLB Debut patch card of some rando is that desired.
Off centered card's, damaged card's coming out of modern packs is killing the hobby. All modern cards should be a PSA 9 at minimum. It's better to just buy singles already graded.
What’s ruining the hobby is fanatics and their “10xing”
I only join breaks when I can do it for free. Go get a free 25 from fanatics and break for free. Don’t spend your damn money on this crap!!!

Oh I could make a similar vid on every single new release these days lol it’s like Groundhog Day
I don't see how people continue to pay for these boxes when the return is so small. I feel like in a few years so many people will leave the hobby.
Already happening. Overpriced shit
I don't understand why people in the hobby are so brainwashed when it comes to these influencers telling them what to do. Lots of wrong info in this one
Enlighten me
Sounded all spot on to me.
He nailed it. The hobby is a farce. Topps and Panini are corrupt.
Tons of card products wasted!! Breakers don't care. Kills actual collectors like me. Hate it!!!
Under two min gang ❤❤❤❤❤
😂 just wear 2 like the dude did in american pie
Don't think Skenes has been pulled yet , there's been some fake posts but don't think it actually has..
You and RGL are 2 of the few honest people in the hobby
Sooo its okay for u to promote a protector for a protected encased card 😂 hypocrite. You are all the same
The reality people still wasting their time on time sports cards. Helloooo crypto bitcoin and stock market=)
Mis Information. The Skenes Rookie Debut Patch Card has not been pulled yet! The Elly has! Not the Skenes! Smh. Smoke and mirrors huh! Smh.
That’s exactly what I said in the vid. Lol The Elly has been pulled. Not the Skenes
@@TheSportsCardDad Guy really thinks he's going to be the one to get the Skenes dual. Play the powerball too, similar odds.
