Big BUCK Jumped My String? Whitetail Deer Hunting

Archery hunting whitetail deer is so difficult. Just putting yourself in the right place is a huge challenge. Picking the right stand, reducing your scent and executing an accurate shot are just a few of the challenges archery hunters face. Then you add in the unknown of the animal you are hunting. They move and react in unexpected ways. I have only ever had 1 deer jump my string and I was fortunate enough to get him. Watch to see if I successfully harvested this nice 8 point.

I can see the pain in your eyes and voice. Sadly we have all done it, its the nature of hunting. I did it my first deer as a kid. jumped my string plus nerves, i hit her in the back leg. Deer are tough. I bet he gives you a redemption shot before the end of the season. I agree he jumped your string and lunged. You made a good shot. Good Luck the rest of the year.

TY Mike. Super frustrating when you shoot all year so when the time comes you are attempting to make a shot with the least likelihood of wounding an animal. My frustration isn’t with not getting a buck. I will get a chance at other deer. And you are right it is one tough part of this sport every archery hunter must accept. I feel your pain.....i shot and wounded a nice buck with the bow this year......very frustrating

I know it’s part of archery hunting but it still hurts to wound an animal when you practice hard all year
