    My algorithm has started suggesting small creators going over classic games I loved as a kid. I am pleased 😂

    Fun Fact Downhill Jam was based on the original premise of THPS1. THPS1 was originally planned to be a racing game akin to SEGA's Top Skater before they modified it into a score based game due to playtesting. Downhill Jam was the only map left in from this iteration and they made the spinoff based on this original premise.

      Do you think Mall could've been one left over too, since it's a downhill level?

    • @DeadYorick
      @DeadYorick День тому +1

      @@ZachMcCordProg perhaps although it feels like DHJ was mostly left untouched. They said what convinced them to change the game was they added these bonus stages between levels where you just did tricks to get a high score and playtesters would just stay in the bonus levels.

    What's funny is that Pro Skater for GBA won a BAFTA.

    I got a psp and a copy of project 8 when i was a kid. that game drove me absolutely crazy when i was young.

      Project 8 put me up on Typical Cats and Qwel, who is a member of TC, because their song Any Day was on the soundtrack
      I'm not a SUPER big rap guy, but TC's self titled first album is my jam, and Qwel is something else as a solo artist too.

    5:43 Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2 has a mechanic where some of the game's music are hidden behind collectable CDs and boss battles. Yes, MHPB2 has a boss fight, but uses FPS gameplay instead of having Evolution Skateboarding-style boss encounters.

    The bmx comment.
    Not true! If I can find it, I very distinctly remember that the ps1 version also had the level hidden in debug code and could be access via the level select cheat codes in the menu or by 100% completing the game and viewing the demo at the end of THPS2 for MH BMX, at which point it allowed you to play a 10 min demo and rolled credits. I swear its there too because I was a frequent 100% completionist back in those days, and these games were all I had growing up. I know I'm not imagining it. I'll go boot up my THPS 1 and 2 right now for you and check which one it was, but it was for sure there!

    "Daisy wasn't a licensed character"
    Fact: "Daisy is based on former porn star Jenna Jameson, who provided both the appearance and the voice for the character", she chose not to reprise the role so Daisy wasn't added. Jango Fett wasn't added for reasons relating to Lucasarts being more strict with their copyright at the time this was made (around the same time SW Bounty Hunter first came out).

    Dreamcast port of THPS1 have the best graphics. In Dreamcast port of THPS2 "Are You Serious?!" gap from School II was removed from gap list. Collector's Edition of American Wasteland adds 2 new levels for Classic Mode. XBOX360 version of THAW have better graphics than any other version. I heard that Underground on PS2 does not have Interface Themes that you can unlock (I only played PC version and you can unlock different themes).

    The amount of nostalgia from the thumbnail is immaculate. I remember playing pro skater 3 on gba. I also remember Aggressive inline which was an alternate game on the game cube. Humble and fun times in the 2000’s😊

    The PS1 Port of Pro Stater 3 also had less songs, the included songs were censored more heavily, there was no blood spatter when bailing.
    All of these changes were probably in the interest of bringing the rating down to ESRB E for Everyone and worldwide equivalents, as well as to better fit on a 700mb CD where the originals were on a 4.7gb DVD.

      The most infamous censored track is "If You Must", where the word 'ass' is muted. Same applies to the N64 version.

    • @OrbitalDropper
      @OrbitalDropper 17 годин тому +1

      Tony Hawk 4's PS1 port didn't survive censorship either. Bloodstains and Whenimondamic were censored in the PS1 port to remove references to violence and alcohol, but they were uncensored in the next gen versions. That, and the abscense of blood and Daisy, explain why the next gen versions are rated T and the PS1 port is rated E.

    Tbh, THPS3 on PS1 and N64 is actually really good and is one of the most underrated Tony Hawk games.
    I mean yeah it isn't necesarilly as good as the PS2/GameCube/Xbox/PC versions, but still great tho.
    Same cannot be said for THPS4's PS1 version, that version is a complete trainwreck, mainly because it's just
    so boring and all of the goals are extremely repetitive, I mean all you ever do in THPS4 PS1's Career mode is get high scores.

    The sewers level in THPS4 was also used in Tony Hawk's American Sk8land on the DS. you got to create your parks there. It was so damn cool to have a tony hawk game on a handheld back then. The game was REALLY good.

    THPS3 on Game Boy Color was the first Tony Hawk game I owned (but I first played THPS1 N64 at a friend's house first). Yeah... Not the best Tony Hawk's experience but it was something until I got a PlayStation 2 with Tony Hawk's Pro 4 for it, which was revolutionary to me at the time. Still my 2nd favorite Tony Hawk game.
    I haven't experienced the main console version of THPS3 until 2013 when I bought a used copy for GameCube (and used a Logitech PS2 controller via controller converter since I prefer using D-Pad over analog stick for TH games and GC controller has a bad D-Pad placement)

    The PS2/Wii version of Proving Ground was made by Page 44 Studios instead of Shaba, which is why, IMO, it's the weakest Tony Hawk game on the system. All of the cutscenes are pre-rendered clips from the 360 version, but the way Page 44 ported it (including the mechanics found on the 360 original) isn't well polished and was rushed out the door for a quick buck.

    Soooo 3 and 4 on Gamecube are the same as ps2?

    • @rashira9610
      @rashira9610 День тому +2

      I would imagine so, or VERY close.
      By the time we got to the 6th console gen (GameCube, PS2, OG Xbox) the storage mediums were much larger than previous gens. PS2 and Xbox were primarily using DVD's for their discs. Some PS2 games were on CD's, but MOST were on DVD. A typical CD holds up to 700mb, where as a single layer DVD hold up to 4.7gb, and Dual Layer DVD's, of which at least some PS2 games were on, is 8.14gb because each layer holds the standard 4.7gb of a single layer disc.
      GameCube used those smaller discs, which were basically Mini DVD's and held 1.4gb and that is typically sufficient to make games on par or only slightly lacking in content compared to full size DVD's as games are almost ALWAYS smaller than the max capacity of the disc. Between improved compression algorithms to fit more into less space, and the fact that the discs are almost always padded out with junk file to fill up the remaining space on the disc anyway, (hence why you were able to find the pilot episode of South Park on the disc of the first Tiger Woods game, they used it as padding) I would thing the gamecube versions of the Pro Skater games are nearly if not exactly the same as the PS2, with the major difference probably being slightly worse audio and graphical quality, because that would all be compressed AF.
