I'm hearing this and reading the book simultaneously. I'm at the part of discovering Dr. Yueh's true character and this music just beautifully accentuates his tragic downfall. This is from the soundtrack to the David Lynch '84 version. Toto did the rest of the soundtrack IIRC, but they put this one beautiful Eno song in there too. I have the soundtrack somewhere and listened to it all the time when I found it in the 90s. Can't wait to see Villeneuve's interpretation of the book!
I first heard it on Hearts of Space, the program called "Beyond the Stargates," recorded it on cassette, and played it until it broke. Ah, the early 80s.

Beautiful music.... read the books as a teen, was more blown away by Toto's soundtrack than the 1984 film TBH, although it had its good points. Never saw the US mini-series (ought to give it a go I guess!) but am very excited to hear about the new movie. I wonder if, in the Time of Coronavirus, it will end up being streamed straight away.... will cinemas become a thing of the past? I hope not, but you never know. Anyway, I look forward to the film - and especially to the score by Hans Zimmer... will it take the place of Toto's score in my heart as 'Best Dune Soundtrack'?!? This particular piece of music was actually by Brian Eno (Prophecy Theme) and NOT Toto. It was the only music he did for Dune 1984 though and its pretty terrific.
I don't think I've listened to a single movie soundtrack produced by a music band that was not stirring for me. Toto for Dune, Queen for Flash Gordon, Daft Punk for Tron Legacy. I think something's trying to tell us something here....

Plus it was snowing in Vegas while in the cab. ToTo!!! Proof of my LA lifestyle captured on Ocean Avenue and jogging Venice Beach to Santa Monica pier as morning routine. World Famous 'coming up" I'd climbed at 23 . ... totally demolished it within a matter of weeks alcoholic in the making spiral down point marker . Toto being the music always linking me to Ali Seraj...who I promise to repay me the thousand dollar bail bond graciously put up by him that Thanksgiving... Lmfao..15 yrs ago and counting.!
Listening to this amazing music makes me want to rewatch David Lynch's Dune now! (The Fan edit) As much as I enjoyed the new Dune movie there's something about the 1984 David Lynch's doing that is so amazing and I can't help to find it liking it better. And I guess what it is is the fact that David Lynch's Dune had a much bigger greater mystic feeling to it! A feeling in how Dune was supposed to be unlike the new one. The new Dune like that Mystic feeling and the strangeness of it, it was David Lynch's Dune with the strange and mystic in film that made it so unique and very Dune like. The 1984 Davey Lynch's Dune will always be a masterpiece to me, and is also what introduce me to the books of Dune.

I wrote about the number 216 in a forum and the same evening Dune showed up in my Netflix. The length of the movie is 2h16min :) and yes I have blue eyes haha ... and also Norse. The post in the forum was about Messiah, scary isn't it. I had no idea that Dune was about alchemy and a Messiah.

Brian Eno and TOTO really came up with something special and different here. There are some scenes that don't really work in this film, and the ending is, unfortunately, hasty and confusing. Too bad they didn't make DUNE in two parts so that they would have time to bring the whole story to an appropriate climax.

I had a lot of issues with the first movie, but one thing I NEVER had issues with was the music. The soundtrack was seriously amazing.

When you're done reading the first book check out the 2000 SCIFI miniseries. The 84 movie is ok, worth watching but not as close to the book as SCIFI.
The movie is different, time constraint, studio imperatives, but it is amongst my favorite movies.
