- I took a drive in Camden NJ, as many of you suggested, i made the trip not knowing what to expect. and let me tell you, I was " wooow " I was so in shock that I'm thinking about going for a second time soon. hope you guys will like this video and hope you give me the motivation by subscribing... that will give me the strength to go down there pretty soon again. thanks fellows.
as always please leave me your thoughts, comment down on the video. ✌️
It's hard to believe prior to WW2...this was a very nice city. It was the Silicon Valley of those days. It was one of the most manufacturing cities in the world. The downhill begin in the early 60's,
Yes, it is very frustrating that the government don't do anything to put order on this dying city.
@@willyG503 the government is going to fix anything.
@@willyG503 Bro, the nine most terrifying words you'll ever hear, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help"...
Kensington was the same. Now look at it. They call it zombie land now. I grew up there in the 80s and 90s. I thought it was bad then when crack was taking over. But now... It's horrible. Camden is just East Philadelphia anyway.
@@MrMichaelmager Kensington was okay in the daytime in the 70's/80's. It still had industry. It was okay to walk during business. By sunset or evenings and weekend nights, it was time to get out of there especially during the time the K and A gang took over the corner. That was back in the 70s/80s controlling the drug market. Philly magazine did a story on Kensington stating that one out of every 20 becomes an adult. It just went from bad to ultra horrific with zombies by the 2010s.
To be honest, the whole entire U.S is a ghetto at this point. Great video!👍🏾
yeah, all country is getting bad 😔 Thanks for watching buddy! 👍✌️
BULLSHIT!
There used to be a song " the world is a ghetto"
It’s a bit like my town in northern England. Not so much architecturally but more so the post industrial decline and desperation
Really? Oh wow, I thought England was beautiful all around!
I watch a lot videos of your country.
You can see my town in this video. It was built on coal mining so it’s never been beautiful but it’s been struggling since the mines started closing in the 1980s ua-cam.com/video/mxQePDQUCRs/v-deo.html
Thank you very much for the interesting video. I come from Germany and I really like to watch your videos.👍👍
Thank you for watching friend. I'm glad you liked the video. Cheers 🍻
I lived at 545 Fairview st. by the Shipyard,we moved out in 1969 after our family car was stolen, found 3 days later in North Camden, striped and burned, never went back ,now retired I Eastern Tennessee.
Omg, that's some crazy sh*t what happened to you friend! You're much better now. Good luck!

Yes. It does look a lot better. Thanks for watching friend!!
Thanks for the video.I live in Long Branch and this is as close as I'll ever get to Camden 🤔
Thank you for watching man! Always glad to read people's comments. Have a good one✌️
LOL I used to live in Manalapan for a long time. We went to Long Branch to see friends sometimes.
I lived in North Camden for 1991 to 2009. On State St. The good old days hung out on 4 n York St 3rd n Erie

Upward mobility: relocating to Irvington!
Only good thing about Camden is Cooper Hospital. That’s where I had open heart surgery to replace a valve in my heart that had a hole in it. Thank God for Cooper.
I thank God for Cooper for you. I wish you all the love and happiness (and MANY more years on this earth!) - with that new ticker. May you be healthy!
They vote for people that will never help the situation
True.
Not true Ms. Redd helped the city alot got allot of funds approved and we have so many programs to help and clean the city. Plenty opportunities and very good charter schools.
How many politicians are really helping
@@asimhusain8087 I work very closely with the Camden's city hall and mayors office we get a lot of programs and help. Our city Treasury and public funding is grater then neighboring city's in the southern new jersey area by far. Damfb.
@Stony Knight thanx for the info I'll stay posted on camden
LOL everywhere. Especially downtown around the rr tracks and neighborhoods along I95. Want to see a dump check it out. They do have a Harrah's casino. Other than that it's just urban blight
Ok I will, thanks for the idea. 👍
Camden has a Harrah's casino??
Chester has a Harrah's
On crescent Blvd. Was where the drive in movies were! Funny memories!✌
Once a major manufacturing city.
Especially at night Camden can be dangerous 😮
Exactly 💯
That's not true friend
Chester across the Delaware river 20min south of Philly is PA's Camden. They are twins in looks

@@willyG503 I guess you were too scared to drive in the city of Camden so you just drove the outskirts??? Your content sucks
I Respect your opinion... thanks for watching !!
Great video as usual. Thanks!
Thanks man
Thanks for the ride! hehe It did look rough - sad to see people have to live like that - it is sometimes that the industry left (Campbell's), sometimes what people do to their own place (not caring for it), sometimes the government/city manager's lack of funds AND care for their own city. Plus crumbling infrastructure (the roads are pretty bad, buildings, sidewalks) - that is a problem all over the USA. Whatever the reason. Sad. I did get a wee worried for you @11:05 - then so confused as to what the dude was dragging across the street (broom???) - then that weird person just standing in the street looking like they were frozen @13:31.
I grew up 20 miles from Camden.Nothing has changed in 30 years still the same S hole
Lol yeah, this was my first time visiting camden. But I'm thinking to go back, to record more videos of this beautiful city 😁

@@willyG503 Thanks for doing this! These "tours" of cities big and small, nice and not-so-nice are some of my favorites. It is important and interesting to see what places look like - what others are going through.

Still have many memories with pop pop! His home near the drive in movies! XXX! THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!✌
Welcome, thank you for watching!
It looks much better than a few yrs ago
It's crazy how these outsiders come to my city and only go between ferry and Broadway to spruce and Broadway then go in circles. My videos are on foot and I'm walking backstreets during the day and night and not just downtown you need to cover Camden as a whole not bits and pieces. Loved how you were at one part of town and edited out a couple of parts and back to another Undeveloped part of Camden you already covered. You did a quarter of downtown a fragment of Parkside a sip of Whitman park what happened to Cramer hill east Camden ,north Camden? Smh I guess it's gonna take me to get off my lazy butt and walk the streets of Camden and show your viewers the real.
It looks much better than 25 years ago. Streets are relatively clean. What buildings there are look presentable. The state of NJ needs to do something bold. Make it a tax free zone where full time residents are exempt from income and sales taxes. You might attract some irate taxpayers from Cherry Hill.
Wouldn't be fair to the rest of the state to need to have their taxes prop up Camden. The taxes need to cover the services the area needs.
It's been run down for years. Philly has some good areas, I would cross the bridge.
Yeah, I posted a video from kensington, philly. More to come soon!
Thanks for watching buddy!
It still beautiful 🤩 for what they done
Yeah the things I noticed about Camden, people on the streets look relaxed & unafraid, no intoxicated people wandering around, gorgeous beautifully maintained historic homes & buildings, lots of lovely trees & green areas. What's not to love about Camden, gorgeous town. 😊🌻❤
Biden voters ☝️
That tittle is wild. But thanks for visiting cuz
Lol, thanks man, appreciate you watching and commenting.
'Camden 719 Central Avenue' This area has been improved!
I'm in jersey myself and I didn't even know how bad this area was. Damn
It's allot better then it looks buddy
Camden is the poorest city in NJ with a per person income of only $9,800 per year. Wow that is low. Newark is only low at only 13,000. What they lack are middle and upper income salaries which a place like Philadelphia does have. I like in Phila and there are plenty of low income folks here. However there are also high income earners which offers some balance. The average income here is $34,000. Not high like NYC or DC but way ahead of Camden and Newark.
Is there any hope for Camden? Will middle income earners every return?
Nice info sir! 👍 thanks for watching and comment.
Geez Louise - $9800???? I can't even begin to think about it - I lived on that, sure, as a really young person just starting out tbh, but I also had to get loans to help (will be paying those off past death). It just feels wrong that a person has to live on that - especially when you see others gorging themselves with money. I remember a time in the 70s where we had to move because my parents couldn't afford the $430 mortgage. But still - my heart goes out to anyone that has to do it (not that it helps to say). If we could figure out a way to help those living there get better jobs (programs that provide skills or vouchers for people that stay) - if we could get some sort of industry there, something to attact people. The NJ government has to funnel money in there (or the Federal govt). I know people hate to hear that but we seem to have no problem spending (dem or repub) to oblivion - why not spend on ACTUAL PEOPLE and places like this. Or maybe they can see what poor Detroit did to help them. Maybe cities working together to help. And no person in this type of country should be frickin going hungry everyday. It is a travesty that we have so many people priced out of renting or owning and having no money for food or clothing. So many people too that stay homeless EVEN WITH A JOB because they can't get into or afford a home. Sorry to be on a soapbox.
Looks like a battlefield game map 😂😂😂
Exactly 💯
I do not understand why you don’t show good parts of Camden. It is not all bad.
Nice video! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked it. 👍 thanks for watching and commenting.. 🙏
Is this what happens when we source everything out to Mexico
lol, u maybe right..
Uh we outsource to EVERYONE. We are basically owned by China. What the heck with Mexico?
Better than I expected
Depending on the time and day. Sometimes is worse.
The drab architecture and kind of plastic attitudes of people in NJ make it a generally depressing place, unless of course you've never been anywhere else. The smaller shore towns like Point Pleasant and Avon can be fun, and Lambertville is alright.
That's right. Beach area is cool ! I've been there a few times before.
I like it.😊🌻
Camden isn't nearly bad as it used to be. They have cleaned it up a lot and you hardly see any dealers out on the corner anymore. Philly is an all time worst now. They have nice areas and they have areas where people can sell and do drugs right in front of the police and they don't do anything. Camden to me is way better than Philly ever was. I have hung and lived in both places but I am Jersey born and bred. I've seen a lot across all states that Ive been too. What Ive noticed is that its the same thing everywhere it just may look a little different in some places. No hood really looks good. But every city has some nice areas as well from my experience.
My hometown ❤️
Have you been to Patterson?
Not yet. But I will be soon!
Thanks for watching man!
No city in America should look like camdan

They are the poor & forgotten.....take it easy!
The only enjoyment to be had in Camden is your morning coffee. nothing more. Sad.
💯% Nothing like a nice cup of coffee ☕️. Thanks for watching.
Been there before. Had panzeroti
U need to look at the You Tube channel WANNA WALK.
They do the same tour of Cuba in the poor areas but they say good things about the people.
They show the broken down areas but talk about the history and the places to eat as well so many of the good natured people.
This is what u need to do.
I have subscribed to them because they are positive.
U must stop being negative.

The City of Camden has sucked for decades. The only good thing that ever came out of that city is Dwight Muhammad Qawi the former boxer who was an ex felon

It's just a way of saying.. Lol 😆 although, if you think about it, I paid tolls and gas to get there, plus my car took a beat up. it'll need an alignment now, that's a lot of money. So, yeah.. I paid, Lol.

Camden is the poorest city in New Jersey.
you went to the worst sections your over sensationalizing there are problems in Camden just like there is in any community but what are you good are you doing just focusing on negative things are improving and the
residents are focusing on the positive they're focusing on solutions.

Let me say this. It’s not the city, don’t ever blame the cities. Blame the people that live in them. The people are the ones destroying their own city and keeping it filthy.
That is correct friend!
Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
People but also let’s not blame the government who in the 70s didn’t provide jobs and white flight and basically left nothing and poured drugs into urban minority neighborhoods which ultimately leads to this and honestly it is bad and looks but believe it or not it has gotten better since 2014 I would say each year
