- i took a little drive thru one of the main cities in new jersey.. Elizabeth , although it's not as good as it used to be. lot of things are going bad and it seems like nobody cares. still I enjoyed the visit. will see you again soon Elizabeth !!

Man I used to live in Elizabeth NJ. My girlfriend died in 2017. I left after that and came back home to Brooklyn NY. That's where I'm from. But I had nothing but bad times in Elizabeth. I was on drugs I went to prison and my life was all messed up. But I got it all together now. I been of drugs for 15 years now. And my life is so much better now. Thank God for that.
Thanks for this video! I grew up in Elizabeth back in the late '60s and '70s, lots of great memories of a happy childhood during a much simpler time. We lived in the Elmora section for years, close to Warinanco Park. I have so many pictures of me as a child with the tulips and the ducks!!☺We'd go biking there and ice skating. And we'd have track meets there for school as well. Good times! We moved to CA in '77, and I haven't been back since the blizzard of 1978, when we (happily) got stuck there for two extra weeks! Practically all of my childhood friends moved to other parts of NJ or other states, though.

i used to live in Elizabeth from 2002 to 2011. the thing i liked about it was that everything was conveniently placed. i could walk or ride my bicycle anywhere. i walked to and from Union County College, the Rite Aid on Broad street, the train station to go to either New York or Philadelphia. rode my bike to the Jersey Gardens Mall to buy music at F.Y.E.. i had no complaints. those were good times. wish i could have them back.
I remember back in the mid 80s downtown Elizabeth was a hell of a lot cleaner than downtown Newark !!!!

Growing up there was fun .back in the .60s .lot of new stores .my kids grew up on the layaway plans .school clothes and Christmas toys .not much different still looks good to me . 😊

This city is predominantly Spanish speaking demographic working poor , working class- with a residual of Irish , Polish , Italian , Portugués -
City has become increasingly dense and is a hub with great access to shopping , NYC, food, services , travel and houses a large sea port for goods, EWR airport , ikea , outlets , Board of Education , and county Court. This place is busy.

Every State has it's bad spots, but this looks pretty good to me.
Thanks for the video! Do you ever have to go to physical therapy with all the driving you do [for us!] - it has to be hard on the back and the organs! Gotta say, the streets themselves (physically) don't look bad - a lot of them look like they were done over. Most places only work on the upper class (maybe suburban middle class if lucky) areas and leave horrible streets in the poorer areas. They rarely care about regular people or people that are just trying to find their way everyday in the world. I admit I get a bit triggered at Elizabeth. In the 70s my mom and dad drove throughout Jersey daily for their jobs after we moved from NYC and my mom was always the designated to/from airport driver (she was such a terrific driver since she was 16), but one of the many times she drove through the snow and ice on a latenight to drop off my dad at Newark, she had a near accident and had a really horrible skid through some black ice. She was never the same (it wasn't the first time or the 200th time, but for some reason THIS time did it) and eventually stopped driving altogether (hid it from my dad too for a long time). She had to give up her job caring for seniors (she drove them to grocery, doctors, all over). I was never comfortable driving because of my mom's trauma. Bad cycle man! But Elizabeth looks better than I thought it would.
Was a great town. Lots of history too.
I'm sleeping at North Elizabeth train station right now and I watched some lady get hit by and killed the chain of 4:00 yesterday afternoon, I save two people's lives in the last three and a half weeks that overdosed on the southbound side of the train station. And that was just those 3 weeks that's not to mention how many people I've saved up by the park by twin City and not to mention I also was dead in that Park 7 months ago..

Elizabeth has been better than Newark for many years. Downtown Newark is seeing some improvements and the negative effects of the defund the police and the lack of prosecution of criminals have not dramatic as they have been in NYC since 2020.😊
Newark and Elizabeth used to be the highest rates of syphillus in the 70’s and 80’s. Antibiotics work!

You blithely claim "it seems like nobody cares" and yet your own video shows the vast majority of places your drive have streets that are clean, cars are well kept and not trashy, yards and public areas tidy....Even the industrial areas are not all that bad. Look at your own video. Please don't make erroneous judgements about cities because you are either unreasonably scared of places with lots of apartment buildings or are writing provocative headlines for good clickbait.
I don't see what you're trying to prove. Elizabeth looks just like it did when I lived there in 1967-69. You drove within a block of my house ... a few times. And my sister's. And my cousin's. Westminster Ave was nice then, and looks like it still is. While you were on North Ave, why didn't you go down to the Elmora section?
