Lyric Interpretation - Is She Singing About What I Think She’s Singing About??? When I heard this song for the first time I interpreted it as song about a scorn lover & subsequent heartbreak. Yet a couple of her runs caused me pause. I heard a different type of pain ... then the lyric “I sure won't stay, but I'll be damned if I ever leave” ... I had to really sit & think about what that meant. I thought long and hard, her runs are gutturally painful...beautifully desperate cries...a special cry not one even a lover could provoke. These cries came from her soul. Back to “I sure won't stay, but I'll be damned if I ever leave” ... I interpret that as meaning death is inevitable but she’s not going to kill herself, she’s fighting This song to me represents a battle, a deep, intensely personal battle between the will to live and the desire to stop the pain with suicide. A couple other shows, other than the Singer that are great for incredible music are Coke Studios Sessions and Nescafe Basement out of the Pakistan, India area. Abida Parveen, is an Icon in Pakistan, she is incredibly spiritual and has a voice more like Jerry Garcia. lol
