‘Its the act of making art that makes me happy, not creating content’ I resonate so much with everything you said in this video. I also feel the same. Love your work!
Bro this. I agree with every point you made. CONTINUE MAKING VIDEOS LIKE THIS I SUPPORT. On top of that, no matter what you end up making in the future, there will always be people who support you and smile at the sight of your work, and that's what matters🗣
*What a breath of fresh. I am so glad you are expressing honestly how you feel. And your observations are so valid and relatable and I feel similarly. Thank you for making this. And thank you for honouring your needs and so glad that you realised this early enough. Looking forward to more of your videos. PS. Cinematography, grading, colour, direction , : like watching a film. I hope that my videos will offer some value to you too!*
Even though I haven't started my content creation journey yet, it's nice (and sad) to see someone else's struggles in content creation too. I'm still finding a way to let go of my imposter syndrome episodes. Stuck between having to do all I can to monetize, and JUST making stuff that I want. Make stuff for me or for my 'audience'? Finding the balance is quite tricky. Anyways, thank you for sharing your thoughts and how u wrestle with these dilemmas too. Liked and subbed!
Very well said, Jaycie. There is so much competition on here, and saturation of content. I am mostly just taking photos for myself, and if others like them, that's even better. My channel is definitely not taking off anytime soon.
Twas an amazing video with a good message. Me personally struggle as well with the usual concepts of content creation, so it's nice to see someone who is not driven by stats or fame. Keep up the good work :)
I’m definitely in the same boat in terms of creating videos. I don’t want to make things to serve algorithms. If I end up with a smaller (but probably more close-knit) audience because of that, so be it.
love to hear it reimann!! definitely is something we all should be striving for, building a community around what you love even if it means it's smaller! 💛
This is so beautifully made, Jaycie! I’ve been having the same sentiments as you, tbh. It’s so discouraging to see how only my toy camera reviews get thousands of views while my personal ones didn’t even get past 500 💀 but hey, I’m here for whatever you’ll post next 😆
omg yes that sounds so discouraging esp bc i'm sure you've put it much more work in your personal videos too, but keep creating what you love i'm here for that too 💛 thank you for the support bon i appreciate you :))
No matter what you do, do it because you want to, never make any kind of content because you think it may please someone else. I think that youtube, instagram and all the different social media platforms out there, can really make or break a talented person simply because of how these platforms work.. I saw a video made by a photographer that found out that reviewing gear was a great way to get views… so he did reviews, but that was not what he wanted… He got more views because how youtube works…. There are interesting photographers without a lot of views and subscribers… not because the content is poor or uninteresting, but because they don’t join other and more popular photographers and create content with them, to get noticed. A lot of the so called youtubers create content with other youtubers, because it is the easy way to grow. Create what you want the way you want it.. most of us photographers, are not on youtube or instagram.. we do our daily work without being noticed, and thats fine. You have great content and interesting videos, so if that makes you happy, great, continue making great content for yourself:-)..
couldn't have said it better myself! thank you for the kind words man, it means a lot! and i completely agree with what you said, here's to making work that feels true to ourselves 💛
I completely agree that comparison is the thief of joy Instead, we should focus on what we truly love, and everything will eventually fall into place. 🩵
truer words couldn't have been said! it's easy to fall into the trap of creating for others but the most important thing is that we're doing this for ourselves :)) thank you for the support!
