Bought my 2011 e92 M3 brand new, still own it and love it just as much as the day I got it. Still turns my neck around to look at it to this day. That S65, just a different driving experience, nothing else like it. One of the best BMWs ever made. Super reliable too.
Guys! Congratulations on the clip. You really captured what the E9X is all about; it is the pinnacle of BMW M powertrain engineering. Their best engine ever made - with the best transmission they ever made. Your comments about the MDCT are spot on. Quick tip; pair S6 with Power button on. It will make the shift speeds extremely fast, yet you will not upset the chassis when shifting with a steering angle by being slightly off WOT.
Great video. I’ve had my 92 Comp pack for 6 years and still bloody love it. You do have to drive them for a while to get them. They are truly epic cars.
I had a guy on a big motorbike behind me in my M3 E90, I floored it down a twisty hill and pulled up at some lights. He pulled along side and tapped on the window, at first I thought he was a policeman. I wound the window down expecting a telling off! He lifted his visor and said "Good grief, what the hell is this thing? I could only just keep up with you " hahahah
I've driven a lot of cars. I get out of Aventador SV's and Pistas and still love my E90 more than anything else out there. Except anything Porsche. Best M car ever made. Best BMW ever made.
Bit of consumer advice from an owner here, my DCT coupe 2010 genuinely achieves 27 MPG on a gentle run. Buy one now. I daily drive mine too, 50 miles per day commute. Coming from a 330d I was worried about fuel/service costs but they are nowhere near what I had anticipated! Again, buy one whilst you still can!
Wow - glad I found this one. I daily my black on black e90M3 with Akra, Ohlins and ECU/DCT tune. It is a magical car. Totally agree will your assessment. The throttle response is very precise (savage). You really need an accurate right foot. The V8 is out of this world and syrupy smooth and the DCT with a GTS tune is supreme - only very slightly slower than the PDK in a 991 Porsche GT3RS. Is this better than an e46 M3 ? The motor and the DCT definitely are. Heavy on the fuel and you need to replace the bearings and the two throttle body actuators will die - these are just maintenance items IMO. BTW - new sub :)

Oh Lads when are the TV companies going to sign you up? Brilliant review. Editing and so entertaining! Funny as! BMW are so damn good at this Q car 'thing'. And no more so than this. That said the new M3/M4 are something else. Thank you. Stay Safe.

Still need the Q7 for family 😂 Defo have my subscription very good review lads 👊🏻
I've owned an M3 E92 for the last 11yrs and only have praise for such a car, regarding the carbon roof, this was part of the design to gain the perfect 50/50 balance of the chassis and balance ofvtge car, adding an aftermarket is a total waste of money, I've been thiking of selling mine as I only cover about 2k a year at the most but after looking at you're wonderful review I might keep for a while longer, keep up the good reviews.
I have a E93 M3 with a very special option that any M3 owner should have. What is it? Cutouts. That's right. Open them up... open exhaust(straight pipe) and wailing V8 to 8500. Hooligan car I will never, ever sell. The E93 is nice also, top down with more sound. Cheers

As the Mrs allows me a 4 seat convertible alongside my main car, this was my number 3 choice after the c63s vert and v10 M6 vert. Luckily the c63s is stupidly expensive still, theres hardly any M6 verts so i bought the M3 vert and got rid of my v8 6 series. Off the bat i can feel the brakes struggle with the weight (the brakes are weak and were weak on my e46 m3) BUT the turn in , handling and connectedness to the road are magical. with roof down , the sound is simply euphoric. Ive owned quite a few cars with incredible exhausts 6.2l, 5.5l, 4l 2l AMGs but for overall emjoyment this is up there and the cabin isnt over insulated so i can enjoy it with the roof up and windows up. The ride is very busy all the time and its stiff but my kids dont seem to mind so thats a pass from me too. If the engine wasnt amazing enough already, the DCT transmission is incredible for quite an old generation of car. As everyone mentions, keep a warchest of cash for maintenence and note the 700quid road tax. Let that thick oil warm up properly before revving above 3.5k etc Other than that, i think theres going to be further drops to the prices of these as the 2nd hand market is tanking
I would like to have this DCT gearbox in my E60 M5 …. great car btw always liked these ( used to own the E46 M3 which was imo the best driving car for the money ) 🤘
I love mine, but have the Alpine Coupe version. It’s very versatile, but of course the saloon would top it for practicality. The DCT is perfectly suited for the car in my opinion. I drove manual and the DCT and am pleased I went for the auto. And the V8 soundtrack is infectious. Brakes could be better if I am honest. The only thing I would change is a slightly longer top gear for long distance motorway work, but the upside is I hunt for A and B road alternatives. 😀 Even my 4 year old Granddaughter adores it. She gets a little miffed if anyone suggests using my partner’s Qashqai. Once secured in a booster seat her first comment is usually “make it growl”. 🤣
10:56, lol... never been lucky enough to drive one of these, but I think I'd agree with you guys... If I had to decide I think I'd have an e46 M3... I have a slow one and love the chassis. Edit... actually you guys reminded me this comes in a sedan which unfortunately was not offered in the e46, so maybe I'd have this instead! I'd have to go manual, even if it is slower... E46s are just so damn pretty though...
So I’ve had mine for a year, 95k miles, haven’t done rod bearings. Anyone in person I’ve spoken with says if you warm up the car and run responsibly, it’s not an issue. The forums however say otherwise, what do you guys say?
I think people just like to moan, these performance cars will always need regular maintenance and will at some points go wrong , im not sure what some people expect, the only v8 that is ridiculously reliable that I have heard of is the lexus isf v8 but it looks like a pigs foot to me lol
It's quicker in general, it's fun but the dynamics of the M3 are better all around. IMO I like BMW, Mercedes, and Audi the most when it comes to sports cars. But something I don't like about Mercedes and audi is that you pay so much for a car that looks like a c300. They suck at designing aggressive bodies. You'd have to fall for the black series bodies to get something aggressive. With audi, same thing but the after market parts seem wider.
Wow. Great video guys! Seriously, engaging and informative. Don’t know how you haven’t got more subscribers. Also will be holding you up on the track day when you get your M3😂 good job 👍🏻
Wow. What color is it. It looks green. Amazing color combo. I love my e90m3. Its so practical aswell. Camping and surfing one week then on track the next. It does it all.
@@OLLIEHEELANDTOE oh no, we all see the green in the car in the vid. But pretty sure that is not Jerez Black - had the exact same car (sans DCT..though found the MT pretty poor TBH) and it looked deep navy in certain light. Could it be your camera? Good vid by the way.
Love the E90/E92 M3 but the hype over NA given the tunability of modern boost control combined with now tightly integrated electronic throttle bodies. Nowadays not only are the forced induction cars making 50-60% more power (stock) but they're also way more tunable and can feel nearly the same as the NA car with either more power or better MPG depending on the selected driving program...Time will tell however whether the B58 suffers from self destructing rod bearings.
I bought a the Coupe brand new on a 59 Plate. Plus points, stable, comfortable, quiet- relatively speaking spacious, an engine noise to die for, with incredible brakes , and it revs out at c 8400 revs, which never fails to stop putting a huge smile on yours and your passengers face. Assuming you are mad enough to go near the limit for to longer a period. Now for the downside. Servicing, and replacement parts, dear fvcking me . And the worst is the petrol consumption. Once a week, I would do the round trip, between London and Bristol, where I averaged 17 mpg, if I drove like an undertaker. Ordinarily, it was averaging 14 MPG. As much as I tried to get more MPG out if it, it was impossible. The car just wants to go forward all the time in any gear and throughout the rev range. It is impossible to drive anything other than vigorously. I was comfortably doing a 100-120 quid a week on petrol, which is mad. I have ordered the new one, where delivery is due April 2022. I do wonder if I will miss the noise, but the trade off is you get 28 MPG on average, and from the various reviews I read and see a car which is as fast as most super cars from five years ago...........
I bought one of these an 09 M3 E90, black, 6 speed and didn't tell my Mrs for a few weeks cause I thought she might get angry... Then I told her and she just said "Really? Cool" And that was the end of it...
I love the e92 (less of a fan of the e91 4 door though, that e90 rear end is not the prettiest), but for me the e46 is the last proper m3. The s65 in the e92 is a great engine as long as you look after it properly, but an m3 with a howling NA straight 6 under the bonnet and a manual transmission will always be the most iconic in my mind.
That’s false. There are plenty of E90 carbon roof replacements available using vaccum infused carbon manufacturing processes to mimic the E92 roof. I am currently doing a mold to create a E60 M5 carbon roof skin as well.
Is the E90/E92 the best M3 ever?

Hey that’s my old car! 😏
No I don't think you can get a "M-specialist" to fit a carbon roof to an E90 because the production process of that roof is painstakingly complex.
A mans gotta dream ✌️
That’s false.
There are plenty of E90 carbon roof replacements available using vaccum infused carbon manufacturing processes to mimic the E92 roof.
I am currently doing a mold to create a E60 M5 carbon roof skin as well.
Thanks 🙏
