My wife and I grew up together across the street from each other, we went to school together, we dated all threw high school, we graduated on friday and were married on sunday. We are still together after46 years and I love her just as much now as I did in 1975. She is the most wonderful person I know. The 70's were great.
My husband and I got married on May 24, 1975. We were married 31 years before he passed away at just 54 years old. This year would be our 47th anniversary if he was still alive.
Did you go out into the woods with her back in those early years? Where I grew up, the boys did our thing out in the woods and the girls played with dolly's.
Same here. But the 90's were when I had the BEST JOB I had ever had. Before AND after. By the 90's, Music became shit but I had a good job AND I became a great Bass Player. I play Classic Rock and early Metal. Now I am 62, retired, and doing NOTHING basically.
Those were the best of times, when stores were closed on Sundays, families visited each other, sitting on the porch talking. We ate our meals together at the table. Home cooked meals. We walked where we wanted to go, and I don’t remember anyone being over weight. We played with all the kids in town. Wonderful memories.
You know what’s even funnier is we would spend the summers out at my grandparents house in East Hampton. Pre cable so TV reception was bad. We loved playing cards, scrabble every night.
Not such a great time in history when your parents were alcoholic and you had to scrounge for everything you could to eat. Not such an idyllic life for everyone
75 was the best year of my life. My parents, grandmothers, all siblings were alive and well. My high school sweetheart lived across the road. They're all gone now. I paid little attention to the bad news of the period. I was having too much fun. I'll be 64 in a couple weeks. Time marches on.

I'm 62, soon to be 63. I had a full family back then as well. Those were the good old days. Not many of us left now. But I still have so many wonderful memories of those days. Yet after all these years I still miss them sometimes.

I turned 25 in 1975. Who knew those were the good old days. Compared to now, such a better time. No social media. The country was more united than today. The entertainment was so much better. You can have the 21st century. I’ll take the 20th any day of the week.
I graduated in 1975 also. Here I am retired sitting in my recliner watching the beginning of my adult life. It has been a long ride but it went by at 100 mph. Pay attention kids and take it all in.
I got married in 1975. My wife was 18 and I was 21, so we pretty much grew up together. We had a few bumps but stuck it out and are still together. Like the song says "time turns the pages and life goes so fast, the years turn the dark hair to grey". Seventies were a beautiful time.

I was in HS, watching All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart and Carol Burnett on Saturday night if I wasn’t out partying or babysitting, listening to the radio and enjoying the Eagles, Elton John, Diana Ross, John Denver, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Wonder, seeing Jaws that summer, experiencing my first kiss, enjoying a new show called Saturday Night Live, had a crush on John Travolta after seeing him in a new show called Welcome Back Kotter, the US was still getting over Watergate and higher gas prices, but overall most of us were feeling good and having fun!
This was the year I graduated from High School. My senior year was a fun and crazy one. I’m actually amazed I’m still alive now in 2021. It’s been a great ride.
I can relate to that all the drinking we did along with smoking pot before homeroom highschool to me was a 4 year party just young enough to miss out on Viet Nam draft and old enough to remember Woodstock
I was 18 in 1975 and had my first child in March after having been married a year. ( still married - same guy.)🙂 I remember so much of this. Yes, simpler times, but not without problems. Nothing like what is going on in the U.S. and world today though.
I'm right there with you. Married in 1974 and it's been 47 years now. Our daughter was born overseas in 1979 when I was stationed in the Azores, Portugal. When my wife went into labor she was the only one in the maternity wing of the hospital. They had to turn on the lights on the whole floor just for her. Talk about personal service. The next day two other mothers went into labor.
I was 8 in 1975. It was a tough year for my family. My dad had committed suicide three years prior and my mom married the man whom I would despise my entire life. My step dad is still alive but I have fortunately not heard from him in over 5 years. My mom died in 2010. I miss my mom. My mom was a beautiful 27 year old woman in 1975. I can still picture her lemon yellow Ford Pinto she drove back then. RIP mom. I sure do miss you!

My first son was 5 years old and my other son was 3.It feels like yesterday and yet so far away.Sometimes I wish we were still back then when we weren’t so afraid of life.
My folks bought their homes in SoCal in the late 50s for $9000 and $15000. They are selling for about a million now. Same houses would go for about $200,000 each back east. California is nuts!!! We left in ‘66 on Highway 66😃

A time when people could think, actors could act, comedians were funny, musicians could create real music and we all had hope in the future. I feel blessed to have been a young person in that era. Youth today are robbed of a quality childhood.

I turned 16 that year as well. I am in Canada but much that was described here applied to us as well however we were not burdened with the whole Vietnam thing which made the late 60's to mid 70's a great time to live in Canada!
I turned 20 late in 1975. I was working and going to college. I have a lot of good memories from that time. Lots of good music, friends and events and after many years of moving from one place to another, I was just starting to put in roots somewhere and was being accepted by the people I admired. It would sure be nice to do it all over again.

I was a High School Sophomore and the video really brings back the good memories I have. Though there were problems facing America in the 70's, it was a great time to grow up. Things were different ... you actually went outside and did stuff. No cell phones or computers (not like todays) to pull you into countless hours of confinement, g. Music was the best... rock, country and easy listening. We had hard times (my father passed away in 1973) and it was just my mom and I. We got through the hard times with good friends, God and Church. I often think back to those years and remember the great times growing up in small town America. My Dad took my brother and I to see "Jaws" then started me in swimming lessons shortly after. To this day, forty-six years later, I still will not go in the ocean beyond ankle-deep, maybe mid-calf, if it's clear. "SNL's Not Ready for Prime-time Players" was the absolute best SNL bar none, in my opinion. There has never been a better group of comedians.

the reality is that racial inequity and marginalization and hate of lgbt folks was much much higher than today as the concern regarding such issues in the general conscience and media was more geared to how these issues of social justice threatened the norm vs harmed the above mentioned marginalized groups. Blacks and women at least were starting to get a voice. Lgbt folks were way behind. In fact being trans was pretty much illegal in many southern states. With any marginalized group that has made progress, there is alway going to be pushback from those who liked the "good old days" when the establishment pretty much had them under foot.

In 1975 my neighbour lady made me a 4th birthday cake in the shape of a train with the engine, all the different rail cars and caboose with cookies for wheels,etc, It was a work of art and must have taken her hours, I still have a picture of that cake.Thank you Shirley I never forgot your cake all these decades later. The last carefree summer of my youth. The windows were open at night, the radio was always on. My buddies and I lived on our bikes (mostly five speeds) all summer. Staying out until our mom’s would yell for us.
I remember 6 of my friends would all pile into a Chevy impala anf everyone would pitch in 50cents each for gas! Then would ride around for hours in are very small town. The Dairy Queen was the meeting place for 15- 16 year olds.
The original Not Ready for Prime Time Players remain, for me anyway, the best SNL cast of all time. Saturday Night Live became regular viewing for me and my friends until that cast split up. For us, that was the end of it. It's hard to believe the show is still going 45 years later. As for Jimmy Hoffa, he was at a party our little league coach through two weeks before he disappeared. He came over and shook our hands but that was about the extent of it. My brother would become a member of his old local a few years later. And the Edmund Fitzgerald struck a personal note as well. My dad supervised the stevedores on the docks in Detroit and he was friends with the captain and several crew members. A few years before that he worked as part of the team that refurbished the ship. The sinking hit him pretty hard as it did a lot of the dock workers. I had friends who sailed the Great Lakes and they told me stories of just how rough those waters could get during a storm, huge swells that would shake the lake boats around pretty hard. RIP guys.

Dad let me tag a long on the docks a few times when I was a kid and I remember going on board some of the ships and having supper with the crew. The cooks were good and the food was always tasty. You're right, those lake boats were big.
Totally agree on the original SNL cast. I tried watching the second cast a few times, and an occasional episode over the years after that, but no subsequent cast ever had, at least in my opinion, the same talent and charisma.
I stopped watching SNL on a regular basis after December 31, 2000. Having gotten used to the 70's, 80's & 90's lineups, I can't really say I miss it all that much.
I graduated high school that June and started college in late August. The whole year from January 1st to December is very memorable for its highs and lows. Recently it seems that I want to go back in time to 1975, as my life seemed so simple and life was so fun for me back then. Rock music for me was the Grateful Dead's Blues For Allah, released in early September, and The Who's Who By Numbers released in late October in the USA. Thank you for bringing back some good memories!
@NitroLPR9 Born May '57 & in a quirk of fate, graduated the DAY BEFORE I turned 18!! I guess there weren't people in the Class of '75 at your school born in Sept. or Oct. '57? I had friends that were born up to early November, before the cutoff date. For a GOOD number of years now though, I think the cutoff IS August! Sept./Oct. kids are put in with the next class. That means Heather Thomas (9/8/57) wouldn't have been the proud member of the Class of '75 she is. By the way, I got to meet her in Feb. 2020 before everything changed, and she's very nice and gracious. Fun to talk to, and still beautiful! :-)

'You Belong To the City' by Glenn Frey; how the 'Eagles' changed with the times in such a brilliant way with some of their best music yet! Immerse yourself in that era; you'll love it. The late 80's though was when rap and the ghettoization of this nation began, and look where we are now 34 years later. Check out The Car's (final) album 'Move Like This'. Retains the classic Car's sound and style, just updated for the 21st century. Look through some of the monthly LIFE magazines of the 80's too. An era gone without a trace, but we can still enjoy it, and should.
What a fun year! I was 7yrs old and 2 of my older sisters graduated from high school, me and my mom went out of town for over a month to visit relatives. The only sad part was her younger brother was fighting cancer. She and my other aunts spent time helping him, but i still had fun and played with my cousins. Sadly my uncle ended up passing away in Jan,1976.

Steve Prefontaine was a friend of our family, and I remember my father being very emotional when we heard. He’d known Pre since he was a little boy. In 75 I was 19 and it was one of the worst years of my life. Granted i had a good job in a coal mine, and new car, but that was the year my father was killed in the same mine. Still not sure if I'm over it. Sadly Mom passed in 81, that was kinda sudden.
@@sallyneary1996 it was. My father was and is my hero. When he got killed i pretty much went bat shit crazy for months at a time. My mother, was a magnificent mother. Between them i had more than any other poor kid around. I didn't know we were poor i got in high skool. After Christmas all the kids in the neighborhood came to my house to see what i got. I got real barroom pinball machines. I had a regulation slate billiard table. Before i was 16. While i loved my mother with all my heart, she was a different kind of animal. She went to extremes. Tried to stab my father, attempted suicide (a night I'll never forget). And could spend money faster than you could count it. She also knew the benefits of having a child at the proper time, which meant i had to be in on the scam. Don't misunderstand my relationship with my mother. Even though we didn't always see eye to eye i know she would defend me at the gates of hell.

I watched the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s videos. Life was so much better than. Yea you had your problems as teenagers do, but life was simpler and best of all was your whole family was living. It’s so not the same now.
A great time to be a teenager. I was sixteen and got my first real kiss from my then girlfriend Nancy in the parking lot of the Burger King where I worked for $1.95/hr. What I wouldn't give to go back for just a week to those simpler times.
My first job came a year later at a sub shop and I only made $1.80 an hour. Sounds like I was in the wrong sector of the fast food industry. You must have been living large on those kind of wages. If me and my coworkers had known BK was paying that much we might have gone on strike. We did live in a union town after all. 😁
This was the year my mom graduated high school and instead of going to her full ride college she got into a car wreck that left her brain dead. They begged my grandpa to kill the life support but he wouldn't. 76-79 learning to walk talk eat night day time how to work her body everything all over again.

1975 I was a senior in high school. Bittersweet indeed. I hated and loved high school and in 1975 I was well aware it was coming to an end. I was in basic training 3 2 weeks after graduation and I ended up making it a career. I miss the late 60's and the early to mid 70's. I'm stuck in the 70's still.

After carter disaster, inflation dropped, interest on loans dropped, business grew, new business starts were highest ever at the time, microsoft and apple grew, along with every business, and the product quality got better from the three major auto builders, thanks to companies like Toyota and Mazda building quality. I was 10 in 1975, got a new Schwinn banana seat bike that year for my birthday, The 70's were great, during winter months Friday nights were home games for my hometown Campbellton Tigers intermediate A hockey team they would win several Canadian Hardy Cup championships. Saturdays were always best, early morning it was cereal in front of the TV watching cartoons like Buggs Bunny and Spiderman, afternoons it was matinee movies at the theater, usually 2 and sometimes 3 movies, Saturday nights of course in Canada from October to Spring Hockey Night in Canada. The neighborhood kids always had time for playing games, sports or riding our bikes as well. Wish I could go back to those days sometimes.

My husband and I got married on May 24, 1975. We were married 31 years before he passed away at just 54 years old. This year would be our 47th anniversary if he was still alive.

Those were the best of times, when stores were closed on Sundays, families visited each other, sitting on the porch talking. We ate our meals together at the table. Home cooked meals. We walked where we wanted to go, and I don’t remember anyone being over weight. We played with all the kids in town. Wonderful memories.
You know what’s even funnier is we would spend the summers out at my grandparents house in East Hampton. Pre cable so TV reception was bad. We loved playing cards, scrabble every night.

75 was the best year of my life. My parents, grandmothers, all siblings were alive and well. My high school sweetheart lived across the road. They're all gone now. I paid little attention to the bad news of the period. I was having too much fun. I'll be 64 in a couple weeks. Time marches on.

I'm 62, soon to be 63. I had a full family back then as well. Those were the good old days. Not many of us left now. But I still have so many wonderful memories of those days. Yet after all these years I still miss them sometimes.

I got married in 1975. My wife was 18 and I was 21, so we pretty much grew up together. We had a few bumps but stuck it out and are still together. Like the song says "time turns the pages and life goes so fast, the years turn the dark hair to grey". Seventies were a beautiful time.

I was in HS, watching All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart and Carol Burnett on Saturday night if I wasn’t out partying or babysitting, listening to the radio and enjoying the Eagles, Elton John, Diana Ross, John Denver, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Wonder, seeing Jaws that summer, experiencing my first kiss, enjoying a new show called Saturday Night Live, had a crush on John Travolta after seeing him in a new show called Welcome Back Kotter, the US was still getting over Watergate and higher gas prices, but overall most of us were feeling good and having fun!

I'm right there with you. Married in 1974 and it's been 47 years now. Our daughter was born overseas in 1979 when I was stationed in the Azores, Portugal. When my wife went into labor she was the only one in the maternity wing of the hospital. They had to turn on the lights on the whole floor just for her. Talk about personal service. The next day two other mothers went into labor.
I was 8 in 1975. It was a tough year for my family. My dad had committed suicide three years prior and my mom married the man whom I would despise my entire life. My step dad is still alive but I have fortunately not heard from him in over 5 years. My mom died in 2010. I miss my mom. My mom was a beautiful 27 year old woman in 1975. I can still picture her lemon yellow Ford Pinto she drove back then. RIP mom. I sure do miss you!

My folks bought their homes in SoCal in the late 50s for $9000 and $15000. They are selling for about a million now. Same houses would go for about $200,000 each back east. California is nuts!!! We left in ‘66 on Highway 66😃

A time when people could think, actors could act, comedians were funny, musicians could create real music and we all had hope in the future. I feel blessed to have been a young person in that era. Youth today are robbed of a quality childhood.

I turned 20 late in 1975. I was working and going to college. I have a lot of good memories from that time. Lots of good music, friends and events and after many years of moving from one place to another, I was just starting to put in roots somewhere and was being accepted by the people I admired. It would sure be nice to do it all over again.

I was a High School Sophomore and the video really brings back the good memories I have. Though there were problems facing America in the 70's, it was a great time to grow up. Things were different ... you actually went outside and did stuff. No cell phones or computers (not like todays) to pull you into countless hours of confinement, g. Music was the best... rock, country and easy listening. We had hard times (my father passed away in 1973) and it was just my mom and I. We got through the hard times with good friends, God and Church. I often think back to those years and remember the great times growing up in small town America. My Dad took my brother and I to see "Jaws" then started me in swimming lessons shortly after. To this day, forty-six years later, I still will not go in the ocean beyond ankle-deep, maybe mid-calf, if it's clear.

@@bobwallace9814 nah, it's fine. I stay at the edge and keep my eyes on the water constantly sweeping for movement in the water. The water has to be crystal clear or I'm nowhere near it. I also pay attention to warnings and never walk at dusk or at night.

the reality is that racial inequity and marginalization and hate of lgbt folks was much much higher than today as the concern regarding such issues in the general conscience and media was more geared to how these issues of social justice threatened the norm vs harmed the above mentioned marginalized groups. Blacks and women at least were starting to get a voice. Lgbt folks were way behind. In fact being trans was pretty much illegal in many southern states. With any marginalized group that has made progress, there is alway going to be pushback from those who liked the "good old days" when the establishment pretty much had them under foot.
When the Fitz sank. Gordon Lightfoot wrote the song. And it is a timeless piece. It was like Salvatore Dali making a masterpiece. And without Jaws the movie. We would not have the beloved Shark Week!!!!

In August of 1974, I bought a 1970 Dodge Charger at the ripe old age of 19. The remaining year and all of '75 are some of my best memories.
Wow my boyfriend at the time ( who married me) had a 1970 Dodge Challenger. We met in 76 but to me that car was Still the Finest on the road! (He’s still pretty cool too) Great memories from those days!✌️

In 1975 my neighbour lady made me a 4th birthday cake in the shape of a train with the engine, all the different rail cars and caboose with cookies for wheels,etc, It was a work of art and must have taken her hours, I still have a picture of that cake.Thank you Shirley I never forgot your cake all these decades later. The last carefree summer of my youth. The windows were open at night, the radio was always on. My buddies and I lived on our bikes (mostly five speeds) all summer. Staying out until our mom’s would yell for us.
these days all the streets are vacant of kids. in my day kids out playing everywhere... wouldn’t trade growing up in the 70’s for anything.
I remember 6 of my friends would all pile into a Chevy impala anf everyone would pitch in 50cents each for gas! Then would ride around for hours in are very small town. The Dairy Queen was the meeting place for 15- 16 year olds.
The original Not Ready for Prime Time Players remain, for me anyway, the best SNL cast of all time. Saturday Night Live became regular viewing for me and my friends until that cast split up. For us, that was the end of it. It's hard to believe the show is still going 45 years later. As for Jimmy Hoffa, he was at a party our little league coach through two weeks before he disappeared. He came over and shook our hands but that was about the extent of it. My brother would become a member of his old local a few years later. And the Edmund Fitzgerald struck a personal note as well. My dad supervised the stevedores on the docks in Detroit and he was friends with the captain and several crew members. A few years before that he worked as part of the team that refurbished the ship. The sinking hit him pretty hard as it did a lot of the dock workers. I had friends who sailed the Great Lakes and they told me stories of just how rough those waters could get during a storm, huge swells that would shake the lake boats around pretty hard. RIP guys.
Always liked Gordon Lightfoot's ballad. I saw those huge ore ships when I was in Duluth,MN (3 times).
@@jaldav I like that song as well. The line in the song where the cook tells the hands it's too rough to feed ya always struck a chord with me. Dad let me tag a long on the docks a few times when I was a kid and I remember going on board some of the ships and having supper with the crew. The cooks were good and the food was always tasty. You're right, those lake boats were big.

Totally agree on the original SNL cast. I tried watching the second cast a few times, and an occasional episode over the years after that, but no subsequent cast ever had, at least in my opinion, the same talent and charisma.
I stopped watching SNL on a regular basis after December 31, 2000. Having gotten used to the 70's, 80's & 90's lineups, I can't really say I miss it all that much.

I graduated high school that June and started college in late August. The whole year from January 1st to December is very memorable for its highs and lows. Recently it seems that I want to go back in time to 1975, as my life seemed so simple and life was so fun for me back then. Rock music for me was the Grateful Dead's Blues For Allah, released in early September, and The Who's Who By Numbers released in late October in the USA. Thank you for bringing back some good memories!

I had friends that were born up to early November, before the cutoff date. For a GOOD number of years now though, I think the cutoff IS August! Sept./Oct. kids are put in with the next class. That means Heather Thomas (9/8/57) wouldn't have been the proud member of the Class of '75 she is. By the way, I got to meet her in Feb. 2020 before everything changed, and she's very nice and gracious. Fun to talk to, and still beautiful! :-)

'You Belong To the City' by Glenn Frey; how the 'Eagles' changed with the times in such a brilliant way with some of their best music yet! Immerse yourself in that era; you'll love it. The late 80's though was when rap and the ghettoization of this nation began, and look where we are now 34 years later. Check out The Car's (final) album 'Move Like This'. Retains the classic Car's sound and style, just updated for the 21st century. Look through some of the monthly LIFE magazines of the 80's too. An era gone without a trace, but we can still enjoy it, and should.

What a fun year! I was 7yrs old and 2 of my older sisters graduated from high school, me and my mom went out of town for over a month to visit relatives. The only sad part was her younger brother was fighting cancer. She and my other aunts spent time helping him, but i still had fun and played with my cousins. Sadly my uncle ended up passing away in Jan,1976.

Steve Prefontaine was a friend of our family, and I remember my father being very emotional when we heard. He’d known Pre since he was a little boy. In 75 I was 19 and it was one of the worst years of my life. Granted i had a good job in a coal mine, and new car, but that was the year my father was killed in the same mine. Still not sure if I'm over it. Sadly Mom passed in 81, that was kinda sudden.

My mother, was a magnificent mother. Between them i had more than any other poor kid around. I didn't know we were poor i got in high skool. After Christmas all the kids in the neighborhood came to my house to see what i got. I got real barroom pinball machines. I had a regulation slate billiard table. Before i was 16. While i loved my mother with all my heart, she was a different kind of animal. She went to extremes. Tried to stab my father, attempted suicide (a night I'll never forget). And could spend money faster than you could count it. She also knew the benefits of having a child at the proper time, which meant i had to be in on the scam.
Don't misunderstand my relationship with my mother. Even though we didn't always see eye to eye i know she would defend me at the gates of hell.
Best years of my life ! I was 10 in 1975 , from then until 1985 was amazing . Life was easy , people were happy , music was amazing !! And my whole family was alive and well ! You can take the 2000s and shove them. Life now is not anywhere near as good , I so miss those days ......

I watched the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s videos. Life was so much better than. Yea you had your problems as teenagers do, but life was simpler and best of all was your whole family was living. It’s so not the same now.

A great time to be a teenager. I was sixteen and got my first real kiss from my then girlfriend Nancy in the parking lot of the Burger King where I worked for $1.95/hr. What I wouldn't give to go back for just a week to those simpler times.

My first job came a year later at a sub shop and I only made $1.80 an hour. Sounds like I was in the wrong sector of the fast food industry. You must have been living large on those kind of wages. If me and my coworkers had known BK was paying that much we might have gone on strike. We did live in a union town after all. 😁

This was the year my mom graduated high school and instead of going to her full ride college she got into a car wreck that left her brain dead. They begged my grandpa to kill the life support but he wouldn't. 76-79 learning to walk talk eat night day time how to work her body everything all over again.

Finished HS 1970 I was 17 and immediately hitchhiked from East coast to California alone. It was a blast. Life was safer back then.
Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme was paroled in 2009 and Sarah Jane Moore in 2007. Both are still alive, so much for life sentences.

You are referring to David Gilbert. (i live in NY) he wasn't paroled, he was Pardoned by Andrew Cuomo during his last week as governor. He was lobbied heavily by Gilberts son DA Chesea Boudin of San Francisco, who is a George Soros funded DA. Chesea Boudin's mother was also a weather underground called Kathy Boudin. Currently the DA in San Francisco refuses to prosecute shoplifters who are stealing Walgreens and other stores blind, forcing them to move out.

1975 I was a senior in high school. Bittersweet indeed. I hated and loved high school and in 1975 I was well aware it was coming to an end. I was in basic training 3 2 weeks after graduation and I ended up making it a career. I miss the late 60's and the early to mid 70's. I'm stuck in the 70's still.
It was a great year for me I was 18 and graduated High School had a good job and a nice car my mom and younger sister were still alive and I had my whole life ahead of me.
Graduated from HS in 75'. That summer before I joined the military I had a Bobby Goldsboro - "Summer" (The First Time) experience. Best year ever.
1975 was the most wonderful year of my life. I graduated from high school, saw Jaws, the movie as well as The orange clock work, the exorcist, Brannigan, Brakeheart pass, Rollerball and The return of the pink panther...best of all, I had my first kiss with my girlfriend.

After carter disaster, inflation dropped, interest on loans dropped, business grew, new business starts were highest ever at the time, microsoft and apple grew, along with every business, and the product quality got better from the three major auto builders, thanks to companies like Toyota and Mazda building quality. Oh and welfare dropped, government stopped growing out of control. Only people that were unhappy was the useless government workers that caused all the problems in the first place. @Retro_Afterglow I have lived and still own business' in South America, so tell me all about it. Welfare in the USA has big screen TV a car a house and so much food that they are fat and lazy. In other words welfare is rewarding failure and the continuation of pure failure of a society. Let them go hungry and they will work. In South America, the poor may be poor, but they also work. PS they work easily 10 hour days and 6 days a week for $100 month. Oh and they are a happier people than any useless welfare complainer in the USA. Arguing with you is exhausting and useless. I was 10 in 1975, got a new Schwinn banana seat bike that year for my birthday, The 70's were great, during winter months Friday nights were home games for my hometown Campbellton Tigers intermediate A hockey team they would win several Canadian Hardy Cup championships. Saturdays were always best, early morning it was cereal in front of the TV watching cartoons like Buggs Bunny and Spiderman, afternoons it was matinee movies at the theater, usually 2 and sometimes 3 movies, Saturday nights of course in Canada from October to Spring Hockey Night in Canada. The neighborhood kids always had time for playing games, sports or riding our bikes as well. Wish I could go back to those days sometimes.
The best birthday presents my father got me were a banana seat, butterfly handlebars, and a sissy bar for my bike.
