Best thing about the year 1970 for me is my husband’s birthday in October. His mother was severely epileptic and was told if she ever had a child it would worsen. And it did, but her joy at having my husband made her life extraordinary despite the added hardships from her condition. What’s better than unconditional love to represent the start of the decade🥰

Decades past so fast and life speeds up. If you have any 70's stories, please share them. It's a time some of us will never be able to experience
I'll have more as the decade progresses, but my grandfather had his first heart attack in 1970 a few months before my parents got married. My Pop was one of the first patients to receive a modern internal pacemakers at John's Hopkins in Baltimore.
I wasn't born yet but I've always been fascinated by the years 70 & 71. No clue why. The 60's were marked by more change but maybe American idealism had degraded into something more obviously selfish, fragmented, corporate, and cynical by 70-71'. Maybe??? The internet has changed us all more significantly since then, but maybe it's just a more concentrated manifestation of that same 70's shift toward fragmentation, corporatism & cynicism. Maybe???
I was born in March of '71,so my entire childhood was in the 70s. The thing I remember most was waking up earlier on Saturday morning than during the school week, so that I could watch cartoons!! Super Friends, Space Academy, Jason Of Star Command were some of my favorites. Star Wars being released in '77 made a HUGE impact on my young mind and set me on the sci fi loving path that I am still on to this day. I consider myself lucky that I was born at the time that I was, because I was a child of the '70s, a teen in the '80s, a young adult in the '90s, and older/mature adult in the 2000's
The thing that really stuck with me as I grew up, though, at the time, I was too young to understand, was all the "Don't forget, hire the vet!", tv ads, billboards, posters, and bumper stickers. It would the early 80s before I really knew what that meant.
I was born December 1969. I remember the TV show In Search Of narrated by Leonard Nimoy......summers that lasted 3 months.....playing until the street lights came in.....real Christmas pageants at school before it became "offensive"...listening for school closings when it snowed.....Halloween as a little girl was my favorite holiday.....so many memories. So blessed to have been a little girl in the 70's.
My husband, Gary (Viet Nam vet) and I were married on 7-17-70 (52 years ago today) and lived together happily for 45 years. A lot of bad things happened that year, but also a lot of good things happened. I weighed 95 and stood 5'1" tall. My soldier boy is now in heaven. RIP Sweet Prince and son, Mikey, born in 1972, is with him. God is Good, All the Time. Rosie (Love Grows Where Rosemary Goes).

I'm so excited! I was a little kid in the 70s and it's unreal how crazy the 70s were. It'll be good to see the energy embargo. My parents 1880s uninsulated rural michigan farmhouse cost $300/month in Jan 1973 to heat. That's $1000 today! And the most epic event of my childhood, the 1978 blizzard, best time to be a kid, ever. My dad was born in ‘67, mom was born in ‘71, step mom was born in ‘66, and step dad was born in ‘71. I use these videos as a way to beat them in trivia lol
It was a great time to be a kid in the 70's !! I wouldn't have wanted to be an adult then. The 80's were way better to be a teen ! Everything after that goes down hill. It just all depends on how old one was during the start of that decade (70"s). If your parents were born in the mid to very late sixties then they would have had a lot of groovy memories. Also location has a lot to do with things. I like your comment.
This was good. I spent exactly all of 1970 in southeast Asia earning the Vietnam Service Medal with the USAF and this helped me put together a lot I missed. Thank you.
Diana Ross left The Supremes that January and scored her first solo #1 hit that year with Ain't No Mountain High Enough, a cover of the Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye tune. Tammi Terrell passed away in 1970 ironically as well.

I really hope that this series continues. I was born in 1970. I can remember when gas prices jacked in 1973 before I turned 4. I also remember the USA 200 celebration in 1976.

My dad was born in ‘67, mom was born in ‘71, step mom was born in ‘66, and step dad was born in ‘71. I use these videos as a way to beat them in trivia lol
@@tegantalks9612 That’s very smart.
@@Ljordan093 my strategy has worked thus far, no one expects me to know so much about stuff that happened a good 15+ years before I was born
YES!! TIMELINE is back, and showcasing a decade that is near and dear to my heart. Thank you, WH!
As a teenager in the 70's I'm loving this Keep em coming!
The Production on this is outstanding. Loved all the other episodes and the first one of the 70s Is great. Keep it up
This was good.
Best 'series' on UA-cam. So, so well put together.
The timeline series is one of my favorite series of videos to watch on UA-cam. I love watching these nostalgic videos from previous decades, I look forward to future decades you may cover keep up the amazing content!
Can't f**king wait!!! Loved the other decades. This is gonna be another awesome set of videos! Man I'm pumped for tomorrow. Thank you for the hard work and commitment to your audience. I will watch them all. Probably watch the other decades again after this one is finished so I can journey through time with this great channel.
It's only the year 1970
Ikr! As soon as the trailer came out, I was like, “FINALLY!!” 😆😆
HOORAY - Timeline is back, and the 70s are a decade I can relate to. :) Life is pretty good. THANKS!
So happy this series is back, missed it. Please do the '50s
Broooo I’ve been waiting what feels like forever for the 70’s😂😂 I knew it dropped in July just not when. Just loaded up UA-cam and this is on my home page lets goooooo. I’ve watched all the 80’s and 90’s all the way through MULTIPLE times love this series. Appreciate you taking the time to make these.
I was just 11 in 1970, but it would kickoff the best decade of my life! Bell bottoms and the sexiest long haired 70’s guys. High school, friends and Keg parties with the best music ever!
Yes!!!!! This is my favorite UA-cam series. I cheered loudly enough to wake Elvis
I loved the Timeline 80's and 90's videos. Your 70's videos look to be just as great. Keep up the great work.
Born in 1977 and I’m seriously thinking of making my 16 & 13 year old kids watch all of the timelines as part of a history “lesson”. Highly educational & entertaining. These are the BEST!!!
The Timeline is my best series of the channel and a staple of my Sunday evening, keep it up guys...
WOOO!! So glad timeline is back, love learning a good deal of history from these!!
So glad you're cranking into the 70s!!!!
I think the 70’s were so much more interesting than the 80’s or 90’s, so again- words can’t describe how EXCITED I AM!! Loved this video!!!
I always thought this. Most people like/miss the 90s more than any decade
Great song, music is life as they say, when you are happy or in a good mood, you dance to the sound of the music, but when you are sad, you listen to the lyrics..
Some of the best content on all of UA-cam. Thank you Weird History
I am so glad this series is back!
Thanks Weird History. 80's & 90's was some the best media I have consumed on this platform. Absolutely priceless. Thanks again
Thanks for doing this, I was born in 1960 so the 70s were my true growing up years. Keep them coming.
Whoa. I almost can't believe what I'm seeing. I'm ashamed to admit I had lost hope. I'm sorry for doubting you, Weird History guys.
Welcome back Timeline! You were sorely missed!
My favorite UA-cam series!
I am so glad to have it back. Been waiting a while for it. Waiting for the next episode will be the hardest part.
Please keep it up! I want at least 1972 to see what happened the year my parents were born.
What an awesome treat to have this drop today, took a little bit but as I well knew it was absolutely worth the wait. This is by far my favorite series on UA-cam, please never give up on these! Thanks again Weird History 😊
I love going back in time through these videos 🫡
Man, I really love this & these. I was born in 1979 & I watched that yesterday. This is just so fantastic to watch.
That was a great timeline of my birth year!! Can't wait to see the rest of them... Timeline is a brilliant series!!
Been waitin' for this since ... the 70s! Great show.
i cant wait!
i LOVED the 80s Timeline. and the 90s!
Thank you for bringing this awesome series back. Very well done. 80s was my favorite so far. Cheers from Niagara 🇨🇦✌️
Apollo 13 was the most memorable for me. Everyone was glued to the TV and praying for their safe return.
Idk how I'm so late, this is by far my favorite series currently on UA-cam.
You guys really outdid yourselves with this episode, I am excited to see what else is in store for this series
Great job! I was a junior and senior in high school during 1970. It was a long time ago, but I remember so much of what was covered here. Love the Weird History vibe. Thanks! I'm eager to see more.
the timeline series is what made me subscribe to the weird history channel. I hope more is in the works! 😁
Yes, more and bigger plans in the works
Looking forward to the 1760's! 😜
@@dvdv8197 I think after 20th century, we would probably cover centuries
@@WeirdHistory I was hoping you start going year by year. Some decades could warrant a year by year.
@@Redblueladybug uhm they've had those. 😅
I love these looks-back through the decades. Especially when you had lived through it. I'll check to see if this was the first of it's kind, and if it is, please continue with the series. I will now have to checkout the others. Nice work, Mr. Weird History.
Wasn't expecting you to make a video like this one, but I love it already 💙😁
Me and my kids would check every Sunday for a new timeline. Was nice to watch a new episode again. Brilliant work as always. Thank you.
My favorite memory is that I graduated from high school in Charleston, WV in 1970. Turned 18 and joined the Navy to see the world. Saw Corpus Christi, Texas, but that was a world away from rural West Virginia. Great year!
I’m in CC now. Would love to go to West Virginia for awhile. 😊
Great song, music is life as they say, when you are happy or in a good mood, you dance to the sound of the music, but when you are sad, you listen to the lyrics..
These timeline videos are my favorite to watch on UA-cam. So excited!
So happy to see the Timeline series is back!
@weirdhistory will you please add a little “HBD to Brett! 🎉” on April 9th in your 1976 video? Brett (my husband) is my favorite thing about the ‘70s 😊 We love your Timeline series and are always excited for the next years to come! TY! 💜
my favorite 70s memory - graduating high school in the late 70s!!!! Plus....Disco music!!!!!
Yay! I’ve been waiting for this since Timeline 1999 ended!
For the first time in my 15 year youtube history I opened the video just to express my excitement! Will plan a special occasion to watch this - not now 👀❤️
Such a very good summary! I love the timeline series! Especially the parts where you talk about things that aren't really discussed much anymore but were prevalent in the years that they occured
like the assassination of JOHN F. Kennedy and the start of the Vietnam War during the back half of the sixties ?
Well worth the wait Weird History! Spot on fantastic as usual! ❤
Yes Timeline is back 😊 thank you so much!
May 18 1970 my birthday..70s and 80s were by far much cooler than the next decade's
Saw Hendrix on the thumbnail and I have never clicked on a video so fast, then I realized it was a new Timeline video ! My girlfriend is gonna be so mad I watched this without her lol, we watch all of these together
Wow so glad that you keep putting in such absolutely amazing work to make these informative, nostalgic, and captivating decade by decade historical videos. I can’t stop watching every Sunday! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars!
I was born in 72. I love videos like this to see what was going on, what my mama may have been seeing and wearing before I came along. She’s 83 now, and I’m blessed to still have her and ask questions often.
Glad to see this series is back!
This is probably one of the best channels on UA-cam. These decade series are 💯 All the topics are amazing.
Yes I am so excited! I know a lot about what happened in the 80s and 90s but not too much about the 70s so this is another good series to add.
I'm thinking I'll probably find something I'll like learning about even if it's not my favorite decade aesthetically yet think I'll like it more as I watch. Lot's of great music I know that
@@MichaelTurner856 I like the aesthetic of the 70s and I’m a huge pop culture fan so I love learning about new things
By far the best and most compact history series on youtube. Love it
I was born in 1972. Watching this is like being in a time machine. I really enjoyed this video.
It’s weird I never got this in my recommendations, I loved the 80s timeline series
I love the 70s! Great job Weird History guys!
Very happy to have this series back! Excellent work
I really hope that this series continues.
I was born in 1970. I can remember when gas prices jacked in 1973 before I turned 4.
I also remember the USA 200 celebration in 1976.
And they haven’t stopped jacking up and up and up.
It's about time! This is my favorite series on Weird History and it's doing great just like the other decades!
I've been dying for a 70s retrospective! I feel like it's a very very important decade to understand what's going on now and I feel like it's a decade most people know very little of and only think of disco
Agree! I seem to remember Disco really kicking in in the 2nd half of the 70's, at least 1975 or so.
