I definitely echo your comments. You looked so smooth on those turns. Your front wheel remained straight which shows that you were leaning the bike instead of turning the bars. That is the technique for modern bike geometry. Looks like it was so much fun!
Thanks, Daniel! That ride felt amazing! I’m in favor of anything that allows me to carry more safe speed down the trail without too much climb penalty. Really stoked😊
I went for the 170mm crankset (Orbea Oiz m-team tr)that has become such a popular topic these days, and I just couldn’t hammer them pedals the same, and I was losing my energy, I thought my new bike was just slow, moved the seat forward and back and tried several set up adjustments, I ended up switching back to 175mm, and it changed the bike, made it fast!! Now it’s raining the PR’s
I always had 175 mm cranks in all my bikes. Never really had any problems but I thought I’d try 170s. Kinda like trying oval CR it requires slightly higher rpm for same power. It’s definitely subjective but I like it on my trail bike which is my longer ride bike. I don’t have any plans to go shorter on my enduro bike
Thought about doing the same thing, but I ended up getting a stupjumper evo alloy comp. I can change geo from 65.5 to 63.5. Built it from the frame up and haven't tried it on the trails yet.
Awesome as always! Thanks for sharing! Makes me feel even better about slacking my Occam H30. Already have offset bushings for the rear shock, and recently upped the travel in front 140mm to 150mm. I'm short at 5'6", and have been considering trying 165mm cranks.
More fork is almost always better! You really should try the shorter cranks. My 170s (175mm originally) feel great! Little easier to spin up and fewer pedal strikes😊👊🏻
Down country? The fuel ex is already considered a trail bike instead of a xc bike. I'll still call this a down country bike. This bike has similar geo to your Kona but more efficient and a 29er

What mods are you considering for your bike? Over fork? Angled headset? Stem swap? I’m totally stoked with my changes to this bike!

That sounds interesting. Let me know what you think!
