I bought this kit. It is big, loud, and kicks ass. I love it. I only got to do about four gigs with it before Covid, so it hasn’t left my garage in almost a year now. It turns a lot of heads on stage. Some guy came up to me at a show and said, “is this a Kiss drumset” 😂😂😂😂
How heavy is it? I love the sound. I use steel snares for their sound and durability for gigging and being used for years. I don't mind if they are a bit heavy but nothing to ridiculous. Is the bass drum and floor tom extremely heavy?
@@dylanbaldwin7934 I wish I knew the weigh in pounds, but yes the bass and floor tom are heavy. I am average in size and I carry them no problem but I would estimate they weigh twice my maple DW kit drums.
@@mineralt cool that's all I needed to know. I'm 18 saving for a good kit I've been playing for about 6 years now I'm in a few bands and gigs are picking up I figured I should get something that sounds and looks better than what I have. These sound good and the durability of metal drums is a plus. One reason why I use steel snares. Just wondering if taking it for gigs is manageable. I'm probably going to get a maple kit for me first set though because I need something practical.
As we all know a drummer is a bass players best friend. And being a bass player it was a treat to sit here and listen to you play. Never heard such a good explanation about the parts and such either. Had a drummer one time and I just loved to sit around and watch him play; the worlds longest drum solo. Lot like you; didn't sit around and just pound. Variety and accents. Really played the drums. I am Grateful.
Stainless steel drums are THE all weather drum shell with a big tone. DW's are out of most drummers price range as usual. Thanks for the Demo Nick / Sweet Water !
It bothers me so much when people say DW are out of most drummers price range. Do your homework any flag ship drum set whether it’s pearl or Tama cost exactly the same actually pearl and Tama cost more. You can log DW into a category and compare them to mid-level drums from other companies
Until some time in the mid 00s, it was always listed as depth x diameter. After that, it was flipped around to diameter x depth. I think it's fine either way. I do think people should specify which number is which, though.
Diameter then Depth. I've been hitting the skins for 3 1/2 decades. When the hipsters came in that's when the confusion started. I clearly remember buying my first kit and the custom shop M.M.E. out of Del Mar/San Diego California always listed shells with a tag on each shell the diameter/depth, specie of wood, bearing edge, then the $ of that drum. It didn't matter if it was a 3-piece kit with no snare or a double bass kit with 8 toms everything was labeled individually with the price so you can pick and choose which drums to buy but it was always diameter then depth. 🤘⚡⚡🥁
Imagine this is available in the following power sizes: 6” 8” 10” 12” 14” 16” and 20”. The steel shell will compensate for the small sizes by allowing more projection/volumes without sacrificing the integrity of the drums
Full round sound and the OCD in me digs the rolled bearing edges. I would have to believe the toms would stay in tune better than wood but steel is a good thermal conductor with a degree of expansion and contraction.
I would like to see, and hear, this kit with solid B20 bronze hoops and hardware. The regular gold-plated stuff would look nice - IMHO - but B20 hoops would surely add something to the musicality. It would be expensive though! I wonder if DW could do a silvery-gold plating job that would match B20 cymbals, rather than the garish yellow gold they offer? Thinking: "Cast B20 hoops and matching plating on the hardware" - drool!!!!
To stop the 2 legged hi hat stands from wobbling like that all you have to do is press down the pedal with your foot and maintain pressure while you loosen the legs wing nut and then simply tighten it back down again. 👍🏼 no more wobble.

I love when people always put the price of a DW drum set but they never say anything about the other brands. Do they not realize high-end drum sets cost this much no matter what brand it is have you seen the price of a pearl masterworks or a sauna SQ2.
the rack tom sounds fairly weak compares to the floor tom, and i can hear that basketball boing" with the rack tom and floor tom (not as prominent on the floor tom though) as well. and compared to some other makes on here, the kick sounds fairly one-dimensional.
I thought they sounded flat and the toms sound like he's hiting cardboard box's I think my all poplar tama imperialstar sounds better than these and you get alot more for a fraction of the price of these particular steel drum shells

What is a sales engineer? You're telling me that a salesmen is now called an engineer? I don't think that makes much sense to someone who has spent 6 years getting an electric engineering degree... I just don't see how a sales representative is an engineer. An engineer designs and creates stuff. What sort of skills does a sales representative have besides trying to swindle money out of a customer? I guess I just don't understand.

What are the bass drum hoops made of? Wood with chrome paint?

Why not a Stainless stell snare? It just as odd match as an acrylic kit with a Stainless stell snare (witch is quite common).
Towards the end of the video I think that the Bass drum mic needed to be turned up 2 notches
where does all the music your playing to in these vids come from?

B20 bronze hoops would be too fragile for rimshots.
I would've demo'd this with a steel snare just so we can hear what an all metal kit would be like. Otherwise...very nice.
