Greg has given so many bops and few skips since the 90’s. Such a talented designer. Says so much in a very simple way. Every seam and color and texture is born from the character or concept he is bringing to the table. One of my idols and I have never met him. I just know when I started color guard in the late 90s, every time I loved asked who designed the costumes, it was Greg. And rifle work that was hard as hell but without tosses but you didn’t notice, Greg. Thank you for teaching me what taste is without me ever even being in a tech block with you. Go get ‘‘em this year Blu! This show has legs!!!!!!
Everyone is SO hung up on color this year. We're hearing the same kind of complaints in the Vanguard camp because we went blue instead of green. I think the red is cool, and even if I'm not a huge fan of the design, it's the show that matters most. It serves the show quite perfectly.
Interesting design concept. Appreciate the being the scenes re: the thought process. An obvious question to me is why red rather than blue? You know, for the BLUEcoats?
I'm thinking about those drum majors in those T/LT-esque uniforms, the degree of pride and purpose they must carry knowing and *feeling* that they are part of something bigger than their individual selves, bigger than this one corps season. Now I prefer marching on the field to conducting, by a long shot. But if I were in that brass line, I would feel like I was missing out on that identity, that feeling of connection to the long, long line of Bluecoats who came before me. I get that the designers have moved on though. The theme of "Change is Everything" doesn't match very well with bringing back the uniform style from ~10 years ago. But at the same time, what new costume could be as rigid as those old uniforms - the ones designed to look unbreakable?
I just think this show was the perfect opportunity to bring back the old black silver and blue uniforms. The idea of order and symmetry in the winds and battery would be so well represented in my eyes. Like why is there no blue at all? They are the blue -sapce- coats, so I feel like it would be cool if they had blue coats. I respect the thought process and I am not trying to hate, I think yall can win this year, and I want to see it. It's just that the only issue I have with the show is the uniforms lmao.
You're ruining your legacy, and you're ruining drum corps. You've become strange, but of course that's what you're trying to do. Odd behavior. 200_ was the down-turn turning point with the introduction of electronics.
i don't like the costumes either but idk about ruining their legacy. they've been at the top for years and every band kid wants to be a bluecoat. theyre doing just fine
Those drum major uniforms are the best uniforms ever in the past 10 years.

💯
The drum major uniform is a lot like the old school drum major uniform from 2014/2015, and I dig it!
Thought someone took my name for moment lol
Very cool thought processes. Thanks for these tidbits of info!

man i want to be a bluecoat so bad this is awesome
I hated 2016 uniforms at first and then loved them so I’m hoping the same happens this year. It’s very cool to hear the design process.
I find it funny how the bluecoats can literally put anything on anything anywhere in their show and they’ll get away with it.
Greg is a brilliant designer, all the way back to our 97 and 98 guard unis at Cadets.

Vanguard doesn't literally have the color in the name though
i was a little iffy at first, but i actually think these are so awesome and hearing about the thought that went into them is amazing!

Thanks for this. I like them…. A lot.
Im voting for the right choice this election, Biden 2024.
Isn’t that the left choice
No “Blue.” No “Coats.” Just woke, progressive crap. I love it.
For the algorithm. ✊
I like that they call them costumes because that’s what they are.
Ofc the guard is the asymmetry and disorder.
🤭😭
kcfcoats 😭😭
im sorry but yall just like look kfc
It's a pride parade
Things always change. No doubt about that. But DCI has officially lost me. I guess I'll just be happy living in the glory of the past.
