It works. I could not handle having this malware run in my background and eat away at CPU, forcing me to get updates, and writing things on my disc without my permission. To me this is the definition of malware, when you take away the ability for the user to remove this "protection", it is malware. The best anti-virus is yourself, don't surf shady websites, and don't torrent files.
Yea just don't go to shady sites and download some shady torrents, but as someone who pirates stuff i still need a antivirus and i use avast antivirus or AVG after disabling the stupid defender

However, when I open up my antivirus program it says its enabled and on. so it seems like both are on except windows says the other is turned off and I have to manually turn it on all the time. My Avast antivirus gets shut down with Windows Defender - only Windows Defender almost immediately turns itself back on. Defender gets FAR too many false positives and I can't install some disk install software I know is clean. I hate it. I'd rather just run my Avast.

Can someone please help, I did the first suggested steps to this video about a month ago, everything was working fine, and it was successful turning off my built in anti virus on my windows 10. I am starting to have the same problem as before with my app that I've downloaded, and the app freezes and continues to notify me that I need to disable my antivirus on my pc in order for my app to run efficiently, the problem is, that the built in anti virus is still turned off. I didn't have the problem until my pc/windows did an update, I went back as the instructions are in this video again, and had turned off the antivirus, but I am still having issues with my app, is there something else that needs to be additionally done since my pc did an update? THANK YOU VERY MUCH :) for ppl who have trouble : u need to enable admin rights and have at least win 10 pro . google how to enable admin rights its easy to enable and its disabled by default.

worked for me: go to gedit and do what video says and install avast, disable all modules, do what you want and enable the modules again

SOLVED by disabling Tamper Protection.
