Gulab jamun has a rose and sugar syrup....that's what gives it its name - Gulab is the word for Rose and yes a Gulab jamun and rass malai (rass is the word for syrup or juice and malai is the word for cream) are a traditional mix that is eaten in the north!

Rabdi is made by boiling milk ,reducing it , collecting milk solids ( precipitate ) on the edges of container+ adding moderate amount of sugar or u can escape sugar if milk is good as it has natural sweetness. ❤👍
Ras malai is paneer ( ricotta) patty in flavoured/ condensed saffron/rose milk. Gulab jamun is khoya/ flour mix balls which are deep fried and soaked in cardamom/ rose flavoured sugar syrup
Hey Happy Family : Was wonderful to watch you enjoy the famed sweets of India ---- the GULAB JAMUN and RAS MALAI at the ease and comfort of your home. Trust you guys had loads of fun.... Love you all ..... Paddy
Ras Malai is made by kneading cottage cheese and boiled in sugar syrup to get the steamed cheese balls.. Later the boiled milk with nuts and saffron is added to the sugar syrup and the cheese balls let in to float ,easy and cheap to make at home ..watch the video on UA-cam..😊❤🙏

In fact when you have Rabdi with Puri or Shrikhand with Puri, you should also make boiled potato sabji (same what you made for Batata Vada stuffings). This way, you will not get a sugar rush because you can have Puri & potato sabji bites in between spoon of rabdi and shrikhand will ensure that you will not feel too sweet and sugar rush. Good to see you guys enjoying I ndian sweets.. The ' mom ' couldn't wait for her turn to taste the Rasmalai.. haha 😅😂 Mom ".. take the camera quick, I can't wait to have a bite of the Rasmalai.. my mouth is watering after seeing you guys enjoying the Rasmalai.. " haha 😂
I think the seller at the shop guided you correctly. Ras Malai is a Bengali sweet. It is highly soothing to your taste buds. There is another variant, Angur Malai. It is exactly same in taste, just instead of big flat pieces, it has smaller balls, even smaller than the Gulab Jamun. In both variants, those spongy pieces are made of Chhena, i.e. sour milk cheese. The soup or liquid is a flavored milk. It tastes best if it is made of real milk (mostly buffalo milk). The cheaper version uses powdered milk and corn powder as thickening agent. That's what is served at large functions like weddings, to beat the commercial price point & manage logistics. But I believe if it's a good sweet shop you ordered from, they must have used real milk. Chhena is a speciality of Bengali sweets. The most famous Bengali sweet Rasgulla/Roshogolla is also made of Chhena and sugar syrup. You should try that too. Warning: It's too sweet. All sweets made of Chhena (white sponge) must be consumed within 24 hours. That's why they always keep it refrigerated. The next day it will taste sour. So no chance for foul play here. Gulab Jamun + Rabdi and Jalebi + Rabdi These are very famous combinations in north India. Though it's not everyone's liking, because it's too heavy to digest. Even one Gulab Jamun + Rabdi would be more than enough for one person. You won't feel like eating anything after that. So a word of caution here. If you think you are full, don't go ahead and try to finish it. You should stop. To make the Rabdi, the milk is boiled till it thickens up to a semi-solid stage, with little sugar. There can be flavors of Cardamom, Saffron or Vanilla. But when it says 'Malai' Rabdi, it is supposed to be unflavored. And yes, most Indian sweets are usually garnished with dry fruits to give them a rich (costly) look. Just like diamonds on jewelry. Because dry fruits are costly.
@adnyat thank you for all your input, we love to hear how it’s made, best versions as well as how and when is best to enjoy. We’ll take note of the other sweets you recommended, mom will definitely like it.. sweet tooth of the family 😁, but will take caution. Keep boiling the milk until it gets thicker and then add little bit of sugar according to your taste.. it's Rabadi. Boil some more until it turns into solid, sticky kind of stuff, it's Khoya. Most of the sweets are made up of khoya.
I squeeze out the sugar syrup from Gulab zamun or Rasgulla before eating. Also, i usually have only one sweet at a time, too much sweet is not good for adults (diabetes).
@leo-zh4zv thank you for your concern. We generally don’t include sweets in our daily diet, as we prefer having a well balanced healthy diet, just for tasting the different sweets available in India that was most commonly recommended did we enjoy these sweets. Thank you for your support ❤️🙏🏻

I personally dont like to mix sweets before eating as creates confusion in the brain. Rabadi, Ras malai, Gulab jamun are gr8 sweets individually itself. I am also not fan of dry fruits on sweets as it disrupts the smoothness of sweets. Addition of dry fruits is pure for status symbol as serving dry fruits to guests is considered honoring highly.
@@skagraw2 thank you for your inputs, we agree with you on this, some love mixing different foods/snacks and others prefer them separately. Keep boiling the milk until it gets thicker and then add little bit of sugar according to your taste.. it's Rabadi.
Boil some more until it turns into solid, sticky kind of stuff, it's Khoya. Most of the sweets are made up of khoya.
@gaurav_tiwari_ thank you for your inputs, we really appreciate it. Will give it a try.
Thank you for your support 🙏🏻❤️
Ras malai my favorite sweet 😋 💕 ❤️ love's family
@@diptikantadalei1303 it’s become one of our favourites too.
Thank you for your support 🙏🏻❤️
@@Shortleft_Travels well come all
I squeeze out the sugar syrup from Gulab zamun or Rasgulla before eating.

@@Shortleft_Travels i saw the video u should have some more hot syrup. ice cream need to add the jamun syrup instead trying jamun to ice cream bowl. Ice cream will melt to hotness chances flavour. Hot jalevi is preferred over cold
We find the same thing, the Ras malai as well as rabadi both tasted delicious on their own! And will definitely enjoy them on their own next time.
Thank you for your support 🙏🏻❤️
You took a very big bite of gulab Jamun.
@artmuse9613 just couldn’t help myself🫣🫣 been anxiously wanting to try this one with this combination 😊

Try few more Bengali Sweets next time.
Try sweets like Rasgulla, Chamcham, Sandesh and Laung Latika.
But ensure buy only one sweet dish once. Do not buy too many sweets together.
Independence day is coming, all will have Jalebi, what about you...............
India has too many variety of sweets, from different Indian states.
So, you can buy a few sweets every week of different varieties (max once in a week please) and enjoy.
I can assure you that it will take minimum 10 years to taste each and every Indian sweets
@makarandsainis4863 there’s definitely a huge variety of sweets, we’ve seen almost every other shop has something the previous one did not have… making us want to take more just to try🫣
