Woo! I love those fences! With a piece of this fabric you can do hundreds of tiny beautiful fences! Love your edition video and the background music. Thanks to share. Awesome job as always. Oh... another time appears the misterious oranged photographer... Looks very suspicious in the other side of the fences... mmmhh... 🤔
I've seen techniques where makers with 3d print a layer or so of the design (maybe half the total thickness), in your case the fence posts, and lay the clothe over it, securing it to the bed. And then finish the print so the fabric is embedded in the print. Might be worth a try next time. Either way your fences look great
Brilliant - got to try something like this eventually. I was feeling smug about my new 3d-printed 3-rail wooden fences, and thinking of doing some metal fencing.
This is amazing! I ran into the same issue when I started working with N Scale. Woodland scenics chain link fences are nice, but way to expensive to use on large products. I attempted this a while back with resin printing but the links were too small and wouldn't come out right or straight up break. So I ended up abandoning it. Thank you for this! I will definitely be trying this out!
Very nice! Also timely for me: funnily enough, I spent this afternoon laying out and soldering 0.5 mm brass rod to make the framework for a couple of hundred feet of 8' chain link fence, along with a few gates. I'm very pleased with how it's turned out, but I think your method will work better than what I had in mind for attaching the tulle. Thanks for putting this out at just the right moment!
@@NScaleDystopia Your technique for attaching the mesh worked really well. I don't have any glass lying around, so I used parchment paper for a non-stick surface, and it was fine. Thanks again!
Such a phenomenal technique! I oughta do this when I build my own layout one day! :D Also, I saw that unpainted F Unit on the end of that GO train at the end. Are you planning on making a custom livery for it?
The fencing looks great. As I need quite a bit of fencing i will give this approach a go. Can you also share where you found those signs on the internet?
Awesome tutorial! Where did you find the signs for the fence? I model N scale as well and I'm looking for signs for my chain link fence. Thanks for the help and Happy railroading!
If I recall correctly, I got the images for the signs on Pinterest. Other people have made collections and I simply downloaded one of the images. Thanks!
I tried a number of different spray adhesives and they didn't go on cleanly - they were too thick and they added little threads of adhesive that showed up on the mesh
@@NScaleDystopia Ah, I see. I've mainly used spray glue on trees. Sticky stuff alright, but for trees the threads of glue didnt matter. I can see how it would be a problem for fences. Cheers! Steven
if you're utilizing 3d printing anyway, you may find it more efficient to print the first layer, pause it, and then stretch your fabric over the bed and continue the print.
Great vid. I thought the same about the woodland scenics kit. I have an industrial area that needs fence. Do you have the .stl. for the fence. That looked great I would like to try it. I have an anycubic 3d printer. Again great video and project.
The fencing looks great! Would you be interested in printing the pole sections for a fellow n scaler for a fee of course? Ignore M&M Rails, n scale is where it's at lol. Take care. Sean.
@@NScaleDystopia and think of everything else you can make, especially if modelers like your good self share your stl files like you do.... many thanks for designs keep it comming
that looks really good. that's the kind of ingenuity you always have to have in your back pocket.
wow what a awesome Idea NscaleDystopia fantastic share love it looks great keep up the fantastic modelling my friend ..😎👍

Very suspicious!
It would be neat to stick some figures that looks like the Worriers in the middle of of the street of the diorama. Great job making those fences.
Love all you do. Thanks for continuing to share!
Wow, they look fantastic, great job. Thanks for sharing your process.
Love how straight forward this technique is

You and another individual has suggested this. I will give it a try
Was not expecting white fabric to work so well - but it does! ( after painting it lol )
OMG. The Dystopiac in the yard. I can't even...
Dystopiac... I love it!
That fencing looks awesome!
Great info and thanks for the STL file for the fence posts.
I’ve used tulle for years for fence. I’ve never done it with the glue. I’ll have to try this out. Tulle has been a secret weapon for years..
Tulle Rules!
I’m serious when I say this, I would buy some HO scale fence off you. If you told me that was WS product I’d believe you. Great job!

You can only imagine how quickly this printed... Do it!
That looks great. Brilliant idea.
Another great video on how to, in future can you show the proper way to make street debris and general concrete bebris for n scale ,
I'm going to be focusing more and more on structures so this will certainly come up
Very nice broski
Tanks mahn.
Fabricland FABRICLAND!
excellent stuff here brother, i love it
Looks fantastic! Can’t wait to see it on the layout

Very cool. Looks great
That is great work right there
Clever!
Fantastic, more ideas for my bridge project, excellent work, could use link for the signs and thanks for sharing the print file
Unfortunately, the signs are copyright protected. I printed them for my own use, but I'm not comfortable linking to them
No worries I understand
excellent tutorial...thanks for the share!
Will I ever use this? Maybe.. did I value it? 100%
very nice video
How hard would Z-Scale or 6mm be for this? This would be nice for a game of Battletech.
If you change the FDM nozzle to 0.2 mm, I think it would be very achievable
Yup that is 100% lens mills😂 gotta love that store for modelling they have so much stuff. The one here in Cambridge is great.
We both know it well!

I appreciate this. I'm not afraid of soldering, but I want to strike a balance between effort and reward. Good luck with your fence!
@@NScaleDystopia Your technique for attaching the mesh worked really well. I don't have any glass lying around, so I used parchment paper for a non-stick surface, and it was fine. Thanks again!
Like you said the size of the mesh isn't accurate to scale, but it does fool the eye. It looks right.

Ha! I wondered if somebody would notice that! That happens to be another project I'm working on... 😬

Thanks. I don't think I can share those signs as they are thumbnails of things that are to be bought. I just googled 'fence signs'
I understand and thanks for responding to my question
That looks great! Probably wouldn't be hard to add damage too if you were so inclined :D
Damage is easy! I glued two to my fingers!

Looking good! Do you think spray glue would work to put glue on one side of the railing prior to laying it on the mesh?
I tried a number of different spray adhesives and they didn't go on cleanly - they were too thick and they added little threads of adhesive that showed up on the mesh
I also tried using different brands of spray paint but the adhesion wasn't as good as white glue. Weld bond might also work well

There is a link in the video description with a link the the STL!
How does tulle compare to window screening both for cost and looks ?
The Tulle is finer, and very cheap. One square meter cost me $2
Awesome and thanks for the technique! Do you offer the files for sale anywhere?
I have updated the video description to include a link to the STL files - free of charge.
@@NScaleDystopia Thank you!

I have a P1S .04 nozzle. The fence prints poorly if at all. Bulk of the problem are the rails, not the verticals. I've tried 3 times. No luck.
Hmm... try rotating the print 45 degrees.
So the first thing I need to do is go out and buy a 3D printer! Sounds like a good idea to me. May as well have bought all the WS fencing instead.
😮 but sit back and say I done that
17 packages of WS fence = 3D printer!
