Good idea. Makes a convincing security fence. And if you made a strip that was only one square high, would probably look like standard height chain link like you’d see in town. I’ll keep it in mind when I get to that point on my layout.
1" is approximatly 12' tall in N scale. If you were to make them 2 squares high and leave "legs" on the bottom like you did at the top you could push that into the scenery and secure it with some glue.
Here’s a tip for you, only put the “Fencing” mesh, on One side. And that’s the side that should face away from the area that’s being fenced in. One square is more or less standard, Two would be a 12’+ fence. ( assuming the wire mesh squares are 1/4 inch.) I do this for HO, using 1/2 inch square, and Tulle.
this method actually looks REally good. at first i was like na it be too big.
but damn the final product actually looks pretty decent.
Try cutting the mesh strips diagonally. That might make it look like the diamond pattern in real fences.

It works really well in my opinion. if you did snip it down to just one run instead of 3 it would look almost perfect.

You could use large pins as posts. Cut the tops off. 🤔😃
