The issue I have with saliva testing, is that if you smoke marijuana the night before and you’re sober at work. The saliva test is up to 72 hours. It’s stil not an indication that your high in that moment. That’s like a breathalyzer, detecting alcohol that you drank two days ago.
While true it's still better than how they currently test. To bad they didn't run more test and raise the threshold from 4 ng to something higher therefore lowering the detection window. I would have thought they would have adjusted the threshold so if they tested 10 hours after use it would be negative since you would no longer be "impaired".
@@dpscott000 I agree, but during a work environment, I think legally, you can’t have any alcohol in your system at all. Not even .03. Because it means you’ve consumed alcohol within 12 hours of your shift. I’ve had employees show up hungover and reeked like booze for hours into their shift.

Personally feel the war on drugs has and always will be a failed endeavor, but if they want to continue their lost cause, they can channel resources towards legitimately dangerous drugs like fentanyl.

The marijuana doctor I go to prescribes Marinol so that way if there's ever an issue with drug testing you only need the letter from the doctor stating that the Marinol will not affect your driving I do not think an mro can test the difference between real marijuana and synthetic THC
Companies should only test on Wednesday (assuming the work week's M-F) so that they're not nailing people who smoked over the weekend. You'd still possibly get screwed though if you smoked M/Tu night.
That depends, i have smoked 30minutes before plenty of saliva tests and i passed all of them even though i smoked 30minutes before, i found out how too, when testing saliva for marijuana the tests dont look for the marijuana metabolites the way it does with all other drugs, so if a employer wants an accurate Marijuana saliva reading they will have to give VERY specific instructions to the donor, in order to get a positive, the donor has to basically collect from the entire mouth BEFORE soaking it in saliva, rub the cheeks, teeth, gums, roof of the mouth and tongue, id say about 90-95% of employers dont do that, they just have you stick it your mouth to instantly start collecting saliva, while that works for all the other drugs it dont work that way with marijuana, ive also tested the theory and in my experiment what im saying rings true, ive only gotten a positive marijuana result when i rubbed the sponge through all of my mouth and even then i still got a few negatives, so marijuana just isnt easily detected unless you go to a clinic and take Oral Eze, that can go back on marijuana like pee but thats only because your saliva is being tested in a lab, not a rapid test
They'll likely still leave the hair testing option on the table. Many positions with larger companies who are self insured might want their employees squeaky clean. And then there are the insurance companies that may want to put in their two cents to incentivize companies to stick with the more strict testing methods.

The panel means the type of drugs are being tested… If it’s a 5 panel they are testing for 5 types of drugs,,, if it’s 10 panel they are testing for 10 types of drugs and so forth
Im mainly concerned about what if they test on the raodside while you're driving and NOT driving under influence. If you smoke yesterday and you drive today, you wont be high and hence not under any influence but the test would still be positive?

Edit: oh yeah and of course brushed after so 3 mouth cleans and a big meal should do it.
So .. if you are a chronic user , smoking daily multiple times a day, then you stop , 3 or 4 days before a saliva swab test , that chronic cannabis user would test clean ? Is that correct ? But on a urine or blood test you would need weeks or maybe months to pass clean without using fake/synthetic pee .. this is usefull information if confirmed.

If the fmcsa switches to saliva testing,the company must follow federal drug testing guidelines and only use saliva testing. However,the company can implement a policy that prohibits anyone from using cannabis. That gives them the right t o send you for a urine test on top of the dot random.

THC Is fat soluble, naturally marijuana will stay about a month. If ur skinny. But heavy is about 2 months tops, Salvia for heavy smoker is about 3 days or 4. Light is about a day or 2, to really clean ourself is to have fiber & healthy food. DRINK Alot water 2!! & Steamroom everyday, it cleans ur whole system. Even hair but hair is about 3 months but use steamroom everyday to shorten the time span. I been do this about 10 years on the job.
Is the cut off the same for private employers or do they have a higher cut off sometime? I’ve heard 50 ng and now I am hearing 4 ng. It seems like if they wanted to know if they were using at work they would make the cut off higher (sensitivity of the test)

My assumption would be that they need to do a saliva test in California and not a urine test because urine tests don't even test for THC. If that is the case then there would be no problem. But if metabolites can stay in your urine for 20 years (slight exaggeration) but still valid because the time it takes to get rid of metabolites is so much vastly longer than the time frame you have to complete a drug test that it may as well be there forever because you can't get rid of the metabolites in 2 days then that's a problem. From someone who both failed and passed a D test, you can slow it down a couple days before hand, and going 24 hours later after taking a hoot, as long as you brush and use mouthwash 3 times or more I guarantee you will be fine, also eat food before you go in and brush again that’s always the last stop before d test town.

This is a complete waste of time. Carriers will never preform a swab test for the industry. It’s going to be urine and hair and that’s that. Like many people have stated the insurance companies will be the determining factor here. That is how it is with everything and it will never change. So us discussing this is pointless. Look how it is now hair testing is not even an approved procedure from the FMCSA and yet here we are. You will always be able to drink the night before you get on duty and nothing will ever happen to you. This and being exempt from the Federal Labor Standards Act we will always be considered second class citizens. We will always be dictated on what we can and cannot do on our off time. It will never change there are way to many organizations like ATA that have politicians in their pockets and bank roll campaigns it will never change

Don't worry so much about DNA. It's just a quick swab of the mouth and the results come in in around 15 minutes. Just a test to let them know if you are currently impaired.

You can clean your mouth to where you're good even if you used within 8-12 hours. Diluted hydrogen peroxide and thorough brushing

Safety sensitive is clearly defined by the federal government and does not include any of the listed occupations

@@18wheeler76 maybe the rules are different for your d.o.t. because the place I go to sniffs it. My buddy failed because he used synthetic urine. The temp was good and the level was fine. The nurse said she couldn't smell it and they failed him.
Will the saliva test be mandatory for all dot physicals or will companies have the option to do urine if they rather?
Physicals don't include drug testing.
Is saliva testing vulnerable to adulteration? My wife says that mouthwash can give a clean result on a saliva test even with same day testing.
From someone who both failed and passed a D test, you can slow it down a couple days before hand, and going 24 hours later after taking a hoot, as long as you brush and use mouthwash 3 times or more I guarantee you will be fine, also eat food before you go in and brush again that’s always the last stop before d test town.
Will you test positive with any trace? Even a .3% THC level like in some CBD products ?

This is a complete waste of time. Carriers will never preform a swab test for the industry. It’s going to be urine and hair and that’s that. Like many people have stated the insurance companies will be the determining factor here. That is how it is with everything and it will never change. So us discussing this is pointless. Look how it is now hair testing is not even an approved procedure from the FMCSA and yet here we are. You will always be able to drink the night before you get on duty and nothing will ever happen to you. This and being exempt from the Federal Labor Standards Act we will always be considered second class citizens. We will always be dictated on what we can and cannot do on our off time. It will never change there are way to many organizations like ATA that have politicians in their pockets and bank roll campaigns it will never change

Don't worry so much about DNA. It's just a quick swab of the mouth and the results come in in around 15 minutes. Just a test to let them know if you are currently impaired.
