Awesome. Yeah the Wild Willy was really the one to have at the time but I think in the end all the wheelies might have been annoying. At least with the Marui versions we could have the battery in the bottom of the chassis and actually drive it. Still both great though. 👍
Great finding that jeep mate, I remember seeing them in hobby shops when I was a kid buying balsa wood for my control line planes. ,Wish they still made them, very nice.
Thanks mate. Oh yeah, it was the same for me although my brother ended up buying one eventually which I ended up with. I still remember the TV ads, wish I could find them now. Me too mate, wish they'd re-release them but I heard Marui got rid of their moulds and stuff when they left the RC scene. 😢
Thanks mate. Oh yeah, gotta love those Maruis! Well, apart from the speed controllers and gears 🤣. Would be great if they re-released them! The Galaxy's were great, I have one here a workmate gave me around 20 years ago, it in a pretty sad state though. I think I will do a video this week on my current Marui collection and get some close ups of each. 👍
My Brother had the golden eagle, he didn't like the handling so much. I had the Hunter and he did like my car more. By the way, i have bought a marui Hunter recently, i have to somehow fiks the chassi by the rear shock unfortenatly, and clean it up. Congrats on youre purchase, looks good :)
The Golden Eagle was somewhat lacking in the handling department, still a fun buggy though. The hunter handled much better. My brother first had the CJ7, then later bought he Hunter, I only had a toy RC at the time so I got left behind by both 😂. Nice one, good luck with your Hunter repairs/resto. Thanks mate, I'm very happy with it. 🙂👍
Great unboxing , splendid jeep CJ7 Marui , it is very difficult to find here, not even at all, some original parts are still on sale. It will be a great construction !!
Thanks mate. Oh yeah, they're a nice model that's for sure. That's right, they don't come up very often in this condition. Would be great if they would re-release them but I doubt it will happen. I actually assembled this one today but will make a video soon with all my Maruis and go over each one. 🙂👍
@@RCHobbyShed If one day it is reissued I buy it right away, but as you say I doubt it too, I can't wait to see this video that you are going to make 😊👍
Yes that's true, they wouldn't understand the frustration 🤣. I have a new Big Bear I'm building from all new parts. It's stashed away at the moment as there's a few parts still needed but keep an eye out, I will have a video when I build it. 👍
Love the CJ 7 ! Regarding the pronunciation of "Marui", I tend to go with MA-RYE, as in Samarui, rather than MA-ROO-EE. I don't actually know which, if either, is correct though!
I've just always said it that way. I learned to say it that way from Australian TV ads in the early 80's and The Early Bird Show on Australian TV in the 80s where they'd race them, it just stuck with me. The only time I've heard it different is only recently where a guy pronounced it as Maroo. I dunno which is correct either as the only Japanese I've heard say it very quickly, more like Marry. 🤷♂️👍
Wow what a lot of great stuff you got! Never heard of Marui. The box looks like it was heavily inspired by Tamiya! I'm guessing that this is from the 80's ?
Thanks mate. You might not know of Marui but might have heard of the Big Bear truck? That was quite popular. Oh yeah Marui did get a lot of inspiration from Tamyia, their first two models being the Super Wheelie Toyota Land Cruiser and the Super Wheelie CJ-7 Golden Eagle in 1983 which were Marui's answer to the Wild Willy. Then in 1985 they release the CJ-7 Golden Eagle and Toyota Land Cruiser (both not called Super Wheelie). One thing Marui did better than Tamiya on these models is battery placement. You could put the battery up the back (like Wild Willy) or in the bottom of the chassis so you could drive it like a normal buggy without all the wheelie's. Marui only made 12 RC cars, like the Hunter, Big Bear, Galaxy, Galaxy RS, Samurai, Ninja, Coors Melling Thunderbird and Shogun. There was also a Mitsubishi Pajero but it never made it to production. Wow, look at me rambling on. 😂
I have used the Tamiya tape and did not like it. Have you had better luck with the Tamiya tape? I now use the blue masking tape. I do like the Tamiya paints. Tamiya paints work good. I just tried the Duratrax paint on a Kyosho Ultima body. The paint worked good and it was cheaper. It also comes in a bigger can too.
I always use Tamiya tape, not had any issues so far (fingers crossed). I've found Duratrax paints are also very good, although I've only used the little jars for airbrushing, I haven't used the cans yet. The bigger can would be great though! 🙂👍
That CJ= 7 chassis reminds me of the Audi Quattro/Open Ascona chassis.
They are similar. I think Marui might have taken some ideas from Tamiya. 👍
My first RC was the CJ-7 Super Wheelie. All I wanted was the Wild Willy but my oldies had no idea. Tough little truck that one.
Awesome. Yeah the Wild Willy was really the one to have at the time but I think in the end all the wheelies might have been annoying. At least with the Marui versions we could have the battery in the bottom of the chassis and actually drive it. Still both great though. 👍
I think all your Christmases came at once! Nice 👌🦘🇦🇺

That's a lot of tools mate, are you planning something big!!!! Love the Golden Eagle, they are very hard to come by nowadays. 👍👍
I'm planning to make a took kit I can take away when I run RC's. Me too mate and you're right, not many of them out there now. 🙂👍
nice goodies and cool kit
Thanks mate! 🙂👍

that was very cool bro😎🇬🇧😊👍👊
Thanks mate! I love the old Marui RC's, bring back memories. Hoping to have my take away tool kit all done soon. 🙂👍
When did the CJ 7 golden eagle kit come out.
This version came out in 1985, the Super Wheelie CJ-7 came out in 1983. 👍
Hello! Marui boxart looks similar to Tamiya's. Is it true that Marui is planning to re-release some of it's old RC cars?
Hi. Yeah the boxart is similar to Tamiya. I haven't heard of Marui bring back RC's as yet but that would be awesome. I would buy them all! 😁👍
