I saw one tutorial where the guy was doing what you just did. He didn't reformat the card each time. Just removed all files except the update file. AND when he finished updating the Phantom and the controller he put the card back in the Phantom so the battery (s) would be updated too.

i just got the dji3 4k. looks like updating firmware or anything is through the DJI Go app. so some of the material in this youtube clip is no longer relevant. i was confused too

So i did every this as you say, it worked very well in the phantom, but wend i got to the receiver part, it never started de update, i guess maybe i have a problem in the usb port or board, since i decided to do the update because without reason, wend i open the app i get disconnected with no camera image or any receiver or aircraft info ... any thoughts ? thanks
Hello I just got my 1st drone a Phantom 3 4k and I was trying to follow your directions on the firmware update however I'm a little confused because in the download section it says transcoding and cleaners. I don't see anything about firmware updates can you take a look and see if I'm correct about the firmware?
I just bought the Phantom 3 4k. In the tutorial you were asked at one point which drone you had, professional or advanced. I don't think I have either one so, how do I answer that question?

I have the phantom 3 4k haven't flown it in 2 years I can not get it connected to my phone anymore can I do the up date with a cord USB hook up on the aircraft itself or do I have to do ot threw the SD card someone please help me this drone is practically new and I want to use it or sell it for a couple hundred and start over with a brand new one! i TRIED TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE AND GOT THIS TEXT.
Packet: P3X_FW_V01.06.0040.bin
Result: Abort.
The current firmware does not support downgrade. Use a different version of firmware to downgrade the target version.
What do I do next?
Does the remote controller need to be hooked up too?

What about the DCIM folder that comes on the Micro SD card (photo/video storage). Does the Phantom automatically create a new folder on it's own after you remove it when formatting ?
+Travels with Yoly After the update process is complete you put the micro SD back into the camera slot like normal and launch the DJI go app. In that app there is an option to format the sd card.

Not yet not like the phantom 2. What I used that worked best is a regular usb jump drive which I think I mention in the video. Format it and extract the files to the root directory of the drive same as the way we setup the ad card.

You also need to update each extra battery you have too. Don't forget this step it's Important.

I'm doing something wrong. I did the download to the drone just fine. But cant get the blue light to come on for the remote.
+Christopher Collinsworth I had the same issue. I called DJI and waited and waited and waited then the guy told me now the update for the controller is done through the app. You still do the copter the old way. Just log into your wifi and it's automatic. Just turn everything on and it'll sync up. Mine worked that way and it flies fine.

Hi - So I received my Phantom 3 Advanced yesterday and went to upgrade the firmware today. I upgraded the aircraft to the V.1.2.8 and went to do the same for the remote (transmitter). When I power up the transmitter, it does not enter the firmware upgrade mode. In other words, all I see is the red light on the transmitter if my phantom 3 is off, and it turns to green whent he phantom 3 is on, indicating that there is RC link. However, when I keep the phantom 3 off, and I go to upgrade the transmitter, the light stays at red, and even after waiting a minute or two, it will not go into its firware upgrade sequence on the transmitter. I tried it with the Micro SD card and USB stick insterted into the USB port. When that didn't work, I contacted DJI support and they told me to try the transmitter upgrade via the provided USB cable. I tried that and the same thing... it did not enter the blue light sequence of the firmward upgrade. Once or twice, I did get a .txt file generated saying that the firmware on the remote is the same, or older than the firmware on the plane... but when I go into the DJI app, it says that my firmware on the remote needs to be updated. I even tried uninstalling and re-installing DJI app in case that was an issue.. but it was still saying that my remote firmware needs to be updated. I have no clue whats going on and am very worried. Can you please help me?
William James Hi will I agree 100% with you. I have been going through the same problem and nobody seems to know what the problem is hopefully we can get an answer at some point hopefully pronto!
I found the solution. Does your remote control say GL300B on the back? If yes, then this is normal. The V1.2.8 firmware does not apply to that model remote, so therefore the transmitter will not respond to it. DJI will release another firmware for that model transmitter at a later date, but they have not stated exactly when. Hope this helps :)

This video is not the correct way to set up your Phantom 3 4K. Do not follow these instructions to upgrade the firmware on your Phantom. It can only be updated via WiFi through the DJI Go App.
