You had me going for a minute, Midderst, never heard of the place LOL I know the area very well and have walked most of the old railway between Midhurst and Petworth on my days off and when I was working nights. I have also walked most of the line down to West Dean but it does pass through some private gardens namely at Cocking. The tunnels prior to 2007 were just about accessible and were in very condition, well I thought they were. The old station at Selham was in a very poor state when I last looked in there, but I see when you look at Google maps it appears to have been sold and made into a beautiful home. Cannot tell much from the air though. West Dean was in private hands and still had the long platforms with underground walkways which I believe are still there at this moment. Last time I drove past West dean station there appeared to be a lot of work being done and the long drive up there was closed. I always had a dream of something similar to the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway would run from Chichester to Midhurst and then to Petworth as a tourist attraction, but I do not think that will ever happen in reality. You are very fortunate to have been able to walk parts of the old line but I suspect your dream of a tourist type railway being built will be just that....a dream....shame. BTW the Romney is one of my very favourite railways and I visit it whenever I can, although it is a long journey from my home in Devon, Regards Keith
