I'm going to go against the flow here, and say you should leave the caramel sweater till fall. It's about to be too warm for it anyway. Make some items in your new light Summer colours, and revisit the whole issue in the fall. Your thoughts, feelings and experience will be clearer then. And you can still choose to make and wear something, even knowing it's not the best colour for you.
Your projects are beautiful, as always, Svenja. Have a wonderful holiday abroad.

That is SUCH a great plan. I was actually thinking about doing that. I have some other patterns in mind that feel might be better suited for the yarn combo anyways. Thanks so much for your advice!

The same thing happened to me! I was knitting a beautiful cognac brown sweater with a lot of stranded knitting... Since learning it's not my color I decided to finish it and wear it anyway and if I ever found that it's not getting worn much I would pass it down to my sister who loves that color and looks great in it. I had a lot of yarn in those same warm autumn tones and instead of selling it I decided to use it for items for my home, I'm working on a blanket and I want to make some pillows for the couch as well. That way I can enjoy all those beautiful colors everyday in my home, and focus on knitting colors that fit better in my wardrobe and look best on me ☺️
*Also, I did a consultation with a House of Colour consultant and I am a Summer 🌞 I have loved focusing in on my best colors and found I already owned a lot of things in those colors... Since I started this journey it's made it a lot easier to get dressed because all of my clothes mix and match and I've put together really cute combinations I wouldn't have thought of before... And it's not just for dressy clothes... All of my athletic wear, hiking clothes, farm clothes, etc are in my season and I love it!

This is such great info! I love that you got creative with how to repurpose your yarn. How fun that you did a formal consultation! I would love to have a more consistent color palette to choose from. Thanks so much for your comment!

Girl I ALSO have been going down a rabbit hole with the seasonal color analysis! I self-identified as a deep autumn which meant that cool colors like grays and blues are "not my colors." And lo and behold, I was working on 2 gray garments and 1 blue sweater 😂 I feel like I can appreciate that warm colors suit me better, but there's also some confirmation bias where "knowing" that the gray and blue "weren't my colors," it made me feel like I looked worse in them haha. I feel like the color analysis is a useful guide, but am now trying to have it "unlock 'colors for me, vs. put colors I like out of reach. Your caramel sweater is genuinely so gorgeous! It looks great, I am totally in support of going thru with it!!

The seasonal color analysis thing was big in the 80s too. I personally think people look best in the colors that make them happy. Also, all you need to do is color your hair and you'll get a different result on those quizzes. They always tell me I'm an autumn because I color my hair red. But my natural hair color is an ashy brown and my skin is very pink/cool undertones. I've gone back and forth on what I look best in and I the end, I think I look best in what makes me happy. I think the brown/caramel sweater looks great on you.

I learned about colour in the 80’s. I know that when I wear “my” colours, I always look good . However, your sweater is beautiful. If you choose to finish it, you could wear a shawl or scarf in “your” colours with it. The best way to know if it works is to hold the colour around your face. If it makes you happy, wear it. If not…..

Finish the sweater, it is beautiful.
That being said; many years ago a friend and I had a “color analysis” session with a professional. I wore navy head to toe. My friend wore khaki. During the analysis we learned we were both wearing poor color choices. I was encouraged to wear army green, khaki, etc. definitely not colors I was or am drawn too.
Over the years I have noticed when I do wear colors within “my” palate I receive tons of compliments.
My take away, although I may look better in certain colors, I feel better wearing colors I like.

I actually did the color analysis in person and I could see the difference in color and what does to your complexion. It is amazing the difference!
You can wear a color outside of your colors, but you can put a third piece on top of it that belongs to your colors scheme.
But that rule only applies to garments close to the face.
    I am a true winter btw 😊

      @@svenjaknitsExpert here :) Absolutely does!
I just came from episode 12 of your podcast, not having seen anything before. I am always analysing people subconsciously and so when you mentioned colour analysis I had to look this up. Turns out, we agree. Light summer would be my first guess, cool summer my second. Thing is that a lot of apps and websites give stereotypes, sort of, and I'm not really a fan of that method. Seeing what a colour does to your skin and what matches your undertone (which an app literally cannot id) is far more useful.
Either way, judging from that 12th episode; you have it covered. You look so harmonious, it's lovely. What I think would be really nice if you were to use this yarn for a deep v-neck garment and then wear a light, soft (baby) blue garment/shawl next to your face. That would both compliment your skin ánd work well with the orangey colour as blue + orange are opposites on the spectrum.
The whole reason for me getting into this thing was comfort, btw. I'm chronically ill and I really hate putting in all that effort of dressing and then feeling/looking blegh. Being careful about what you own makes it a lot easier to make the right choices in the morning.

I think if you like that color, you should finish it and enjoy it. Sometimes a bit of makeup in similar colors that the sweater can solve the problem, you can experiment even now, since the top of the sweater is ready ;).
Also, as an option - you can dye the garment in a darker color that works better for you. It's more difficult, but still it might work

I got analyzed back in the 80's I think and found out I'm a winter which means Jewel Tones, Black & White, I gravitate toward those colors anyway. I discovered that chocolate brown really suited me too. When you held the sweater up to your face I thought it looked good. I see gold tones in that shade of brown, so it seems to me it would look good on you. With your blond hair and fair skin, wearing pale colors would mean everything is pale, no contrast. I don't see how that is a positive. I'm no expert either. If you don't keep it, sell it on Etsy, you have a shop there don 't you?

Heaven's no - don't frog it! The colour theory, yeah ok whatever. But you love those colours because of how they make you feel, its aesthetic meaning to you. My 2 cents is, respect what you love and make what you enjoy. Explore new colours based off the theory thing if you like, why not? But just because something isn't regarded as the most flattering colour for your appearance is rubbish; we don't just pick our colours and clothes and whatever else so we look more attractive to other people. Do it for you and leave the anxiety to make things that "officially suit you" in the trash xx
