Any good biographies of Napoleon's father? How important a role did he play by being a social climber and breaking into the aristocracy? The U.S. not only scooped up as many Nazi rocket scientists as they could but also recruited medical researchers who experimented on concentration camp prisoners. Just one example is the recruitment by Naval Intelligence and later the CIA of Kurt Plotner who tortured Dachau inmates with mescaline experiments. His work was continued as part of the MK Ultra program.
Do you have a favorite book on Abraham Lincoln? I want to start a project of reading a book about every single President and I am unsure where to begin. Only one I have bought so far is McCullough's John Adams.. wait, I think that is the author, need to double check!
It's fantastic - and like everything written by that author, it's so DENSE that you're reading brain is very pleasantly exhausted at the end of every session!
Re: Albert Speer and Werner Von Braun, isn't it pathetic that the USA was so backwards scientifically that they felt that they had to spare Nazi scientists from punishment? Otherwise, we would never figure out how to make high powered rockets?
I think the hardcover version of Ali is just the photograph with absolutely no blurbs on the front.
It's Frieda's library tour again!
That's a beautiful book on Cromwell!! i was just watching a documentary on Anne Boelyn, and I guess Cromwell wasn't one of her biggest fans.

I'd probably recommend David Herbert Donald's book on Lincoln - and "The Indispensable Man" by Flexner on Washington!
@@saintdonoghue thanks so much Steve!

Quite like Lowell's poetry. Why reprehensible though?
Reprehensible, in this case, not for his poetry but for his personal life -
@@saintdonoghue Yeah, sorry. That is what I meant. Other than marriage woes haven't read anything particularly bad about the fella.

Pathetic, yes - and definitely not something the American people would have agreed to condone, had they been consulted.
Down with cats!
