    Funny enough, I did watch the install video Mucci put out, this morning before work (no I don't have this super bike). And then here you are w/ a really great install and show and tell. Much appreciated. Really looks like a super duper skid plate. Thanks

    That is a great looking skidplate for your red version Toureg. Really sharp. I got my Toureg last Saturday. I have the blue one. I ordered the Heed products to protect mine. At some point I might take off the cat. The heat is a bit much. I am sure I wouldn't be complaining when the Temps drop. I am also in COS and have the Bulls AM4 emtb. Looking forward to more videos.

    Do you have to remove the skid plate to change the oil filter? I'm guessing so?

    • @lazy-pilot
      @lazy-pilot  2 роки тому +3

      I think you could get the filter off potentially but you’d make a huge mess. After the initial install it was much easier to get it on/off. I recently changed out the OEM exhaust header and had the skid plate off, it took a couple minutes to get it back on.

    I have one coming. I have one question. He’s been calling it paint but you said its powder coated. I assumed by the look it was PC. Can you confirm that it’s actually powder coated and not painted?

    • @lazy-pilot
      @lazy-pilot  2 роки тому +1

      He has also referred to it as powder coated in at least one video. The finish appears to be fairly thick. So either it’s received several coats of paint or it has been powder coated (which I think is more likely). The hardware came loose in the box and I was expecting damage to the finish but it was so minor it was barely noticeable which also makes me think it’s a powder coated.

      Hi, that’s a “lever-saver” cable that you’re looking at, designed to keep my levers from bending too far away from the motorcycle.

    Like the skid plate however would have it in silver

    • @lazy-pilot
      @lazy-pilot  2 роки тому

      The bare aluminum (silver) skid plate would look really nice especially if you polished the sides. All the skid plates are going to get pelted heavily with rocks off the front tire. There’s about a 4-5 inch wide area behind the tire that gets a lot of wear. I’d recommend getting a clear bra or an adhesive frame protector kit, I would just get something made for mountain bikes, they have the same issue with rocks hitting the down tube and stripping the paint off.

    Which center stand do you have, the oem or the hepko & becker? Does it create and kind of snag hazard on the left side where the foot pad is? I saw one on a Yamaha T7 and the guy kept snagging it on saplings on the side of the trail, though I know that is a unique riding condition.
    Great content! I have the same bike. It's been very helpful.

    • @lazy-pilot
      @lazy-pilot  2 роки тому

      I have the OEM Aprilia center stand and have had zero issues with snags/strikes. I find the big lever on the back makes it far more usable than any center stand I’ve ever fitted to a bike; even with the bike fully loaded I can get it on the stand. It fits well with my GP Mucci skid plate. I have zero knowledge on the H&B center stand.

    I think the bold red is badass. I’m looking at the acid gold right now. Do they bake the skid plate in the acid gold color?

    • @lazy-pilot
      @lazy-pilot  Рік тому

      Last I saw Acid Gold wasn’t a color option on their website. I think bare aluminum, black, and Martian Red were the options. You could send them an email to ask, they’re a friendly bunch. Otherwise, you could take it to your local powder coater.

    Have you noticed any improvement or worsening of heat coming off the right side of the Tuareg with the new skid plate? Thank you.

    • @lazy-pilot
      @lazy-pilot  Рік тому +2

      I only had the GPMucci skid-plate on for a couple weeks before installing the Arrow header (with the Arrow Sonora muffler I had already installed). I noticed no discernible improvement from the skid-plate but noticed a major improvement for heat off the muffler installing the Arrow Sonora, and then adding the Arrow header (no-cat) took care of heat issue ENTIRELY. Now it’s one of the cooler running exhausts I’ve ever had on a bike this size.

    Where did you buy the Arrow exhaust? I can’t find the setup you have. I’m in MN and am going to be working on the bike over our long cold winter.

    • @lazy-pilot
      @lazy-pilot  Рік тому

      I originally bought the muffler from Moto-Sound.com and the header from AF1 Racing in Austin TX. AF1 has both the Arrow header and Arrow Sonora muffler in stock. But some reason AF1 are now asking a premium for both, especially the muffler. I’ve had great success buying from international vendors when sourcing parts for my Tuareg and with the nearly one-to-one exchange rate USD to EUROS, you can find some VERY deep discounts even with international shipping. Oddly enough every single thing I’ve ordered from Italy, Austria, etc has come to my doorstep faster than from the domestic vendors. I’ve included two links:

      @@lazy-pilot yeah it’s nice to have a video but it’s sort of up to us to figure out which screw/bolt of which type and length goes where. And I’m stuck on the Aprilia crash bar integration.

    • @lazy-pilot
      @lazy-pilot  Рік тому +1

      I think you have to determine if you need the included spacers or not. I didn’t need them. As far as the small bolts go, the longest go in the bottom-front with the special beveled washers. Another pair fits in the recessed bottom-rear (with no washer), and the sides use a the short bolts that fit into the beveled washers. If that makes sense.

    • @firekite
      @firekite Рік тому

      @@lazy-pilot that makes a lot of sense thank you. I have the OEM center stand as well. Did you add a washer to the factory bolt? I figure the flange face on the bolt should be sufficient.
