- Nirvana - Love Buzz
7" single Love Buzz / Big Cheese (Sub Pop) 1988
originally by Shocking Blue (1969)
written by Robbie van Leeuwen
This debut single by Nirvana is one of the true classics in the history of music. It's not the best song they recorded, but it's their first. Needless to say this single is very collectable these days. It was limited editon of 1000 and they all were hand numbered. This one's here is 24.
This is the original single version with this sound collage intro in the beginning, later on their first LP Bleach there's a slightly different mix of this song.
Run-out groove of this single there are the words "Why Don't You Trade Those Guitars For Shovels ?"
Nirvana on this single:
Kurdt Kobain (Kurt Cobain) (vocals,guitar)
Chris Novoselic (bass)
Chad Channing (drums)

Gotta Love Love Buzz!

hi tom
Yessir
1988, the year the 90's began...
Makes sense. It seems like the 80's began with Heart Of Glass by Blondie in 1978.
dave idmarx uh huh
Kinda a pretty cool statement! I feel ur love buzz ...
@@daveidmarx8296 damn true
no that would be 1990
02:30 Krist's bass solo is honestly bananas
Lol
Krist was the one who bugged Kurt about this Shocking Blue song and here is the result. The Shocking Blue version was more psychedelic. Shocking Blue has had some of their songs covered by every generation.
@@Davesworld7 I thought the crazy effects towards the end were pretty psychedelic. But you're right, an 80s band covered Venus, Nirvana covered Love Buzz but I'm not sure about the 2000s lol. What about the 70s tho?
Love this one. Every one is rad. But Kurts voice....beautiful and clear! Love the way he pronounces "heart"....
harrrtttttt
Every one how many are there I just know shocking blue original
Me Toooo❤ !!
19 people can't feel Kurt's love buzz.
Jim W 3 assholes dude imo.
13 people
I like the vid
Jim W so, true. Can’t believe this was a cover, too. Still sounds good, though. 👏🏻😀
it's 20 now..
It’s like this is the free trial with the weird add thing in the intro, and then the album version has no ads
Love this Shocking Blue cover. Nice and heavy with an amazing bass line.
The bass line gets you into this. It is only two chords with a lot of lead for the guitar. Terrific.
This is so rad dirty raw grungy rock, love you guys can't get enough Nirvana never be the same
The intro is truly masterpiece!
Yes that bass. Two chords on guitar but the bass is great.
Dammit just realized this is 30 years old!
Hahaha! Funny huh!
@@SweetShine213 not at all
It's 50 years old. Written by Robbie van Leeuwen (Shocking Blue) late Sixties, from Holland! Unbelievable, isn't it!
@@peterdevalk7929 ,
true, this song was released in shocking blue second album 'at home' in 1969.
32 years old
The original montage of heck at the beginning!
20 people aren’t the queen of my heart
And now 23 :(

One of the best covers ever!
So I was listening to Shocking Blue and yup now I'm here...both versions are worth a replay
this is my prefered version, had it on a cd of 1994
A shocking Blue song. Thank you very Dutch!

Amazing song
Great intro! I laughed loud and hard when i realized this original 7' is 3,000 dollars. And of course its a rendition of a 60s classic by Shocking Blue. The original had sitar! But this is still great!
My friend has one and i think you can easily get for it $6000 today
Really great! First time I listen to this version
This is the way!
In 2012 I would play this song on repeat for several weeks. time to do it again.
**There were actually more put out but these were un-numbered, SubPop have suggested about 200 with a red slash instead of a LE number. So about 1200 in total are in existence, not counting the fakes. Nice upload!
Simon Baxter Can confirm. I was just reading “Nirvana FAQ” by John D. Luerssen.
Cool
this is great
Thats fookin awesome! Never heard that before! Thanks for sharing it!
This is brilliant, listen to the original version, I mean this is new wave.
2019 still listening.
Classic ... R.I.P Kurt

Wow Nirvana covered a Dutch band! Very great cover! The original is more famous ofcourse but Im going to listen to this version a lot too! Well done Nirvana👍
@EndofMusic nirvana did it their way but the older version is nice too.
The original used Sitar. I did not discover other shocking blue songs outside of Venus until much h later.
It's because of Krist he was a psychedelic hippy
Oh I thought his name was Krist but photo says Chris but you know who I mean
Can’t believe this was the original single version from the single with the woman doing a talking intro. Good job.
We all love Buzz Osborne
For Sure!!!!
The original version of 'Love Buzz' was done by the band 'Shocking Blue',in 1967.
yeah, but this is the original single version by Nirvana with the intro
Ricovali: ...from Norway
@@shruggzdastr8-facedclown Written by Robbie van Leeuwen (Shocking Blue) from HOLLAND!
It says this in the description.
The original song by Shocking Blue is much much better...
good juicy and raw recording.
The fast guitar lick in the song never sounded the same played after this really
Love the song
Great debut song. Thanks, Nirvana.
This 7 inch single is worth a Grand because there were only a thousand made and they were numbered!
this is perfect!
love it
The original mix!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a cd titled Grunge is dead Cd0001 that had this I found "used"
Big fan✋
simplemente hermosa version
Sii
Y pensar que es un cover. No sabia que no era de ellos la cancion.
just received this 7" as a gift from a very generous friend, #104. had to listen at least once to make sure no skips or anything. came on here because for some reason i remembered the intro collage being longer than what i heard on the record, so got nervous for a second that it was a fake or something. nope, guess i just remembered wrong. phew!
Find a few close friends you can trust, and never let them down (my friend wrote that). You have a good friend pal. Don’t let them down. Cheers.
The track...that killed the late 80's metal hair sound. Take a bow now...'Love Buzz'. (We should thank Shocking Blue as well).
No it didn't. Smells Like Teen Spirit killed hair metal because Love Buzz wasn't as well known during that time.
Amo esto!!
Powerful version
Nice picture as well
only1000 pressed. nice upload.
Love it
That screaMMMmm.
Holy Shit! That's rad.

Very proud that a dutch band was the origin of this.
It's the best bc it has that raw sound. 🤘🏼
Did not know it was a Shocking Blue cover-tks

So different.
I first heard Nirvana at 11 years old when I used to steal my older sisters tapes. I randomly came across the Nirvana Nevermind tape and I played it excessively not even knowing who they were at the time until Kurt died when I was 12 and it was all over the news and was the only thing everyone talked about then I got into Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Tad, etc at 13 and it pretty much changed my life forever.
kurt the lagend...2020 still
WOW
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
nice
Wow this is different from the Bleach version, vocals are a lot clearer and the music hits harder wow
Q PEDO Q BONITOOOO
Why wasn't this rare version included on the 20th Anniversary release ad a Bonus track?
They look so youthful
this is so raw compared to the bleach version, i love it.
Take something and make it your own, that's how you do a cover!
hello world 28-11-2019
this is even better than the album version :o
This version has either been sped up or a different key from the version on Bleach.
1988 kelahiran saya waktu itu.. sekarang saya sudah pun 32 tahun.. saya from Malaysia..saya suka lagu lagu nirvana...i love so much
This sounds great, I can feel the excitement Kurt did hearing themselves on the radio for the first time. Definitely different than the album mix

"Kurdt Kobain" and "Chris Novoselic" nice.
Yeah I was wondering about that
The original is also fuckn dope
Good Lord bless and keep you. Bye now.
this sounds really good and clean for an old ass record, what magic do you use

I have some records that are at least a decade older that sound even better. This isn't bad, but it's not impressive.
"Old ass records" as you call them, actually sound a lot better than today's digitalized crap put out by record companies.
