As someone who works in a library that also has a 3D printer set up (no resin printing sadly), I get happy when I see folks use their library resources! It's always nice to see these sorts of things when some in the general public tend to think that libraries are outdated. I think I follow you on Cults and I need to look at some of your other stuff soon!
Years ago my grandfather excitedly told me about how his local library had a 3D printer and laser cutter and stuff like that. Honestly if not for him I might not have known to look for something like that (although i like libraries regardless! a bunch of the libraries near me have an agreement so we can use library cards in like 5 libraries, although we can only use the 3d printer at our specific one)

thank you! Yes I havent been able to find a "tutorial", DO tell me if you find one, I found reddit posts of people talking about customs but the only repaint i saw was a "peeled" (fabric-less) custom doll.
So glad to see this model again, i love them sm, seeing the parts printed out was so cool. The strawberry seed freckles were so cute AND THE PAINTING FOR THE CORAL IS SO COOL, I LOVE HOW IT LOOKS. The clothing is so adorable, love the strawberry buckles and the flowers drawn on, defo think going for the full strawberry theme was the right idea. Love the pony videos :] The reveal at the end was great - loved ur singing

Ur experience is absolutely amazing, esp since like me, a moderate cost is an expensive cost. I did a university design elective featuring 3d printing & making mistakes was so common. I didn’t realise that my local libraries ALSO have 3D printers so I’m excited 2 try ur design bc it is so beautiful 🥰

Omg the sea pony is sooooooo cute Im still planning to resin print the takara model in resin Im just still working on smaller models to fine tune settings before trying to print something this big 😬 I only got my resin printer in the last couple months and am still used to fdm but I think the resin will look nicer because it comes out smoother
FDM is the kind of printer that does PLA and PETG and other filaments that look like string
Sorry for commenting as I watch the video but if you asked your library what kind of printer they are using you could put that in cura and send them the sliced file for printing to avoid having pieces printed in the wrong direction
Oooo sounds cute you gotta tag me! Actually today someone posted that they printed the Takara pony in resin (clear resin actually), their name is gafellique on tumblr, I wasn't sure whether it would work in resin but they seemed to have no problem. They did let me know that since theirs is printed in clear resin you can see through the head and I didn't smooth the inside of the head down fully so it looks "blocky" inside, which I am keeping in mind for future models.
I put this in a little note but I actually did get the plugin for the printer they use, although I didn't send them the sliced files for my next project because its super big (like, the file wouldnt have been able to send big); they ask for files to be sent in stl/obj directly so I don't know if theyd be okay with a sliced file. I could maybe send them a note in the future depending on the print.
Its so cool your library has a 3d printer. Mine doesn't have anything but a normal black and color printer. But they do offer other things, including an area for getting a passport.

wow. you are very skilled in 3d modeling. I am super jealous. I do 2d illustrations and could only rig the flat pieces to try and animate in 3d and that was overwhelming lol.

A baby pony? Like a baby g1 pony or takara pony or? I have a free baby takara pony as well as the adult available for free, and I know some other people have scanned takara + g1 ember on cults3D.

Surprise doll first. while the Gen 3 MLP doll is second, and the My Life doll should be last. Also, the bunny girl you created looks so cute and it would be so cool to see you bring her to life as a doll, but I am surprised you didn't use the bunny doll base for your mascot instead.

Re: why I didnt use it for my mascot, it's really just because I didn't want to do another pink strawberry character right away. Plus, I eventually want to make a unique anthro bjd and I'd like to be able to make her completely "mine"

I'm not sure its a proper dollightful collab because I am too much of a small fry to get in contact with a big fish like her but since her bunny doll is/was free that's coming eventually! based on feedback I've gotten, probably the nanana doll is next.

Hi! I have a interesting toy that I think you'll like to recreate called "Fairy Tail Flyers",
They were made by Hasbro and were a short lived toy series alongside My Little Pony.
They consisted of brightly colored birds that were capable of perching on your finger, that had symbols on their tummies and came in different poses with long brush-able manes and tails. There was a few different series of them including Tropical Flyers, Fuzzy Tummies, Baby Flyers, and the Rare Fan-Tail Flyers.
They even sold perches, houses shaped like bird cages or flowers, and even a bird cage playset that came with 2 lovebird Fairy Tail Flyers that looked a husband and wife.
Sadly the series was discontinued way before I was born due to them not selling that well 😢

Hi! I actually made a long post on my toy-tumblr-blog about all the non-pony MLP-related hasbro lines. Fairy tails, MLP Friends, Moondreamers, and Lil Litters.
Of the fairy tails, I prefer the sculpts from the first line so that's the one that I'd most likely try to remake in the future if I do do them, I just have a lot of interests so I'm not sure when that would be. I like the 2 sculpts used for Tulip Tails and Tricky Tails the most. I do at least want to make a 3D model of the stands for people who own the original fairy tails because I know those get lost a lot, so it would be good to have a replacement!

really interesting as someone who doesn’t know much about 3D printings. My library has a 3D printer too I think and I would love to make one of these if you were selling the model ✨
If the parts are separate in the file, the slicer, the program that preps the files for printing, should have a split option that enables you to move each part around etc. I just figured that out recently myself, though. XD Aaaand Cura doesn't seem to have it. ^^;;; Otherwise it's called "split to objects". Maybe try OrcaSlicer? The one I use is based of it, so it should have that option.
Omg, she's adorable! I had to show my partner the seapony song, lol. He used to play a with ponies a lot with his sister as a kid but had never seen them.
Supports on 3D prints are a learning curve for sure... Here are some tricks I've learned:
First, think about the angle you place your print, where will the support marks be least noticeable? Rotate object accordingly.
Second, what kind of supports should you use? There is "Normal", where you can choose which pattern it prints in, and there is "Tree", which looks like it sounds, it branches out, creating more organic support for the object. I tend to gravitate toward this one when I print my dolls. I tend to use "Supports painting", where I zoom in on the objects and paint where the supports should be manually. It's a bit tedious to do since my doll has 19-21 pieces, but the control it gives makes it worth it!
Third, can the object topple over easily while printing? Like, if the object is quite small, the supports will be thin and might come loose from the print bed more easily. To prevent this, you can go to bed adhesion and adjust the brim width.
I don't know if the 3D printer guy at the library likes/allows you to bring pre-sliced files, also known as G-code, for printing, but I hope my tips will be useful in one way or another. :D
Well that first part explains why some people were able to print the file and others weren't.
I'll continue using Cura bc it's what my library uses for now, plus separating the files is important for other people who use Cura, but it is good to know there are programs that might be a bit easier to use.
Thank you for all the advice! I do hope to have a 3D printer someday and I will have to learn more about this all myself! AFAIK Cura seems to have "support blockers" instead of supports painting where you mark out which areas shouldn't have supports. I did notice the 3D printer the library uses has many many custom settings (down to like, minimum print speed) but the other printers I tested are less complex! So I guess it depends on what I eventually get, and I'll probably have to test a lot. Even though I tried to seek out advice prior to getting it printed, there was nothing like just having the print in front of me to teach me.
@@art-eroflore Yea, if you go into preferences you can select more advanced options to show up in your print settings, I noticed! I tend to go with the flow, if I run into a problem, or I'm not happy with how something is turning out, I try to look up how to improve it, ain't no way I'll be able to learn it all before I want to do the thing, you know?XD

If I ever figure out how to make stickers maybe? I used to have a redbubble like I said but idk, there arent as many good print on demand services, so I'd have to preorder and send them out myself which is complicated and I've never done that
I do wet sanding with my resin projects, it creates almost no airborne particles
In this case I was sanding the gesso more than the plastic and I'm not sure if I can do wet sanding with that, I think it might break down (?) With polymer clay I wet sand
She is super cute! I think you should invest in some nylon hair though. The yarn hair has never looked super professional to me since it is a little messy and not very glossy. I would recommend shimmer locks! They have great customer service and lots of pony color matches as well as original colors.

I purchased some nylon hair from dollyhair last year for a big project that was meant to be a 3 video series. it failed so bad i didnt end up making the video, so... i guess ive been burned by it. Yarn is *much* cheaper and I try to spend my money wisely (i dont have a real source of income and i have never actually made money on youtube)- these projects/videos are just a hobby! Nylon hair would mean I have to plan for a specific project (or multiple projects, because shipping) and hope that project doesn't 100% fall through aka "turn out so bad it makes me really sad".
I am hoping eventually to make some restorations, including pony videos and other dolls. but I try to limit the money i spend per specific project (at least I can use apoxie sculpt for many projects, for example)
@@art-erofloreThat makes total sense. Shimmer locks is less than $10 for a hank of nylon hair and they ship quickly that's why I recommended them. (You also get points for purchases which you can use to discount future purchases!) I hope you didn't feel like I was criticizing your yarn hair, you did a fabulous job with it! I just don't feel like yarn hair ever looks very professional from anyone so that is why I suggested nylon. Absolutely no hate at all! Your little strawberry sea horse is so precious!
@@mostlyghostey Oh don't worry I'm not offended! Personally I *do* like the look of yarn hair sometimes, but specifically it looks much better when it is a short hairstyle. For this doll in particular I would have gone for it if I felt justified in spending the money just for the doll. (I even considered trying to find like... an Elsa doll at the thrift store and stealing her hair, cause itd be like $1, but you know whats cheaper than that is free, aka taking yarn from my moms garage and repurposing it) -- I will keep shimmer locks in mind for the future!

You can patch up the holes with Apoxie sculpt, if that helps. Just a little sanding here and there. Well done! I have a seahorse BJD and she needs a friend!
I did know that hippocampus was the genus name, theres even one called Hippocampus hippocampus! I suppose that my assertion should be that seaponies are based on the genus hippocampus rather than the mythological creature, but that wouldve taken too long to explain, yknow!

alas it is too late, I have sold pokemon fanart (fanart that was less transformative than the bereevees, who are barely recognizable as eevees), and so have many, many other people on the internet. There is even pokemon fanart currently on redbubble. they just selectively pick and choose when to enforce rules like that.
I mean, this video is technically My Little Pony fanart, is that theft? Who am I stealing from? I am not competing on the market with hasbro or pokemon with my posts on youtube or redbubble. Fanart is a complicated arena when it comes to legality.
