  • The other week Chris and I visited a place in North Wales that up until then had eluded me. “Portmeirion”. This is a quirky, fantastical place.
    It was a windy day, and we went through some bad weather during the drive, but it stayed dry during our visit thank goodness.
    I’ve just discovered a connection between Portmeirion the Place, and the Portmeirion Pottery works in Stoke-on-Trent.
    Portmeirion Pottery began in 1960 when pottery designer Susan Williams-Ellis (daughter of Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, who created the Italian-style Portmeirion Village in North Wales) and her husband, Euan Cooper-Willis, took over a small pottery-decorating company in Stoke-on-Trent called A. E.
    I spent many years living in North Wales, and ended up living in Stoke-on-Trent. Maybe it was destiny that called me to this place.
    How cool is that
