I almost landed one earlier this week. I was 10th in line but the store only had 3 on the shelf when they opened the doors 😥 just the simple fact i seen it on the shelf was impressive.
Another great review on a bourbon that I will never see...... The best bourbons are the ones that are available and affordable. Wild Turkey products come to mind as being widely available and many of their offerings are affordable. Thanks for the review Jason.
Visiting a buddy in Nashville next month and booked a tour at Maker's Mark on the way. Just a coincidence, but they had a Cellar Aged tour available when I happened to be looking so I bit the bullet and ponied up. Glad I did as it sold out in a few days. JC's review tells me that I will absolutely be grabbing a bottle - tour gives you the option to purchase ONE. Wish I could have booked it twice!! Looking forward to this release. Glad it will be an annual event Thanks JC
I completely agree, very light on the tannins. I got a significant Red Vines (wheat funk) flavor off of my bottle. I put a few drops of water in it and it turned into a caramel bomb.
Was pumped to see this video in my feed! Glad to see that you enjoyed it. Your reviews are always so well done, and your B-roll is top tier. I think it's an epic pour. So glad to have scored a bottle myself at $180, and it's been 100% worth it for me. Admittedly, I'm a huge Maker's fan.
Just got to try this while on a trip out to Boulder and it was fantastic! Having toured Maker's Mark back in May, I'm sure I was standing among all the barrels that got batched into this first edition which is pretty cool to think about. That said, I'm not spending over $150 on an 11/12 yr blend when I'm perfectly content with 101 and 46 cask strength
Hey there Jason! Got a somewhat unique question. If someone was going to give you a bottle for free and your options were the following: -Maker's Cellar Aged -Russell’s 13 -EHT Barrel Proof -Your Favorite JM Cigar Blend - Michter's 10yr Bourbon 2023 Which would you pick? Great video as always. Liked your specifics on it when it comes to blinds, etc.
Holy hell that's tough....lol. so this may surprise you but I would go with the Michters 2023. Here's why....cellar aged, Russell's 13, eht barrel proof will release each year. Even though Michters 10 does it's hard to fathom another one as good as this years is for a long time.
@@TheMashandDrum just finished up rewatching your M10 review and came back to this comment. Sounds like an amazing low proof bourbon with a finish which is hard to find. Shoot Jason I figured you'd go straight to the 🦃 lol
Thanks for this. Always interesting to see these special releases. From what I gather this is a unique release and don't blend in. Also shout out Columbus!!
Excellent review as always Jason. Although you mention `global` on sales for this I don`t hold much hope on any UK release. We didn`t even get the cask-strength 46 so I`ve been mixing regular cask strength with regular 46 to get a `French-stave` profile with more `umph`! This `Cellar Aged` is a great move from MM, I reckon they be kicking themselves they didn`t do it sooner such it`s success will be.
I was fortunate enough to a couple pours of this in Louisville, KY last week. Phenomenal pour to say the least and the hype is real IMO. Now to somehow to get a bottle 😅
Annual release. I’m curious how it’ll compare year over year. But I do know that Jason rarely recommends paying over srp. When he does, you know it’s a hitter
I have become a big Makers fan over past year. Have several of their impressions and its great juice. Luv wheaters. Dont know if im ready to drop $250 for a bottle.
Tasted this one blind tonight. 9:20 Eek. Putting it up against 23 Birthday, Old Fo 117 BiB, 15 Stars Platinum and Barrell 035. As of right now; gotta agree with your point at 9:20.
Thanks for the review Jason. Would be fun to see it thrown in a blind with some other wheaters and see how it does. Maybe Bardstown Origin wheated, Weller 107
Sipping some ECBP 922 when I clicked on this video and as you stated almost each flavor note, I find them in the ECBP. Vanilla frosting, cherry, toffee, root beer candy, almond cookie, leather. No wheat funk lol.
Using the aging method, I’m wondering how many barrels need to be queued up to meet an annual production run. Is there enough room in the cellar to hold the future cellar aged product as well as all the MM46 and Private Selects? Just a thought. I would love to see this in a double bass with the wheater of your choice.
I am very excited to try this! Maker's is my favorite with Maker's 46 possibly my all time favorite. Are you from Iowa? Love the shirt! I've been in Cedar Rapids for over 25 years now.
I know it’s gonna be an annual release, but I’m looking forward to trying it this year. I’m sure it’ll come down to how much I’m willing to pay with some of these stores gouge.
Thank you Jason c!! Been waiting on your review I think we have similar palettes. So I don't get why they'd only did 30k ? This is a first time release I get that but I would say 50-55k would have been better. I doubt I'll see it within my budget. Local liquor store had it for $600 just ridiculous.
I can’t stand regular MM but love the MM cask strength ones. So many good bourbons out that are not $150. Just do not like them enough to spend that much on a MM.
Great review Jason. Came across a MM Cellar Aged in South Florida. Like most allocated bourbon in South Florida it’s ridiculously overpriced. Was willing to drop $250 on it but the one I found was going for $500. Big pass.
With $10.00 per year aged as a standard for pricing $150.00 is a little high to me. I’ve been really enjoying MM French Oaked 46 Cast Strength for $55.98. I really like it. With that said having not seen or tasted this offering I’m a little hesitant to jump up $100.00 for the cellar aged. Especially when it’s highly unlikely I’ll find it for MSRP.
It cost my store $150 to purchase a bottle in a 3 bottle case so if we sold it at “msrp” it literally wouldnt make a profit MSRP and manufacturers cost are two different things if anyones selling it for what they paid for then good for the customer finding it under 200 good luck
Yes I support your channel but honestly these reviews do nothing for me. This is a bottle that not only won’t I see it but most likely won’t even taste it. Good you got one or a sample but for me I’ll be happy with the cask strength. Enjoy!
I’m wondering if MM is looking to cash in on the higher priced market they see other distilleries selling their products for. Can’t blame them but it’s only going to push the envelope towards the end of the bourbon boom! We are seeing a huge increase in prices for all essentials across-the-board ….. food, gasoline to name two. Bourbon/whiskey isn’t a real essential for most of us. JMO
Great review! I'd love to find a bottle of this, but I know that probably won't happen, so I"ll just stick with the Makers 101, store pick or Maker's 46 cask strength. When I saw Fred Minnick basically have an orgasm on camera trying this bottle, we all knew what the secondary for this would do.
Man, I’m just not convinced by these reviews that this thing will hold up as one of the best of the year, or worth the hype/price. The statement that this could get lost in the shuffle of a MM blind, and may need to be appreciated on its own kinda sealed it for me. That doesn’t scream “very special”. I think this’ll be a pass for me.
So if you don't like any MM you've tried, you should probably pass? I recently gave MM another chance with BEP, and nope,. There's just something in their profile that doesn't work for me.
I haven't found a MM I like. I just looked back at my Maker's Cask Strength tasting notes and see "sub-par" and "flavor not very good" but "could tolerate a pour if served one as a guest." Letter grades (on A to F scale) were "C" and "C-." I'm glad Jason mentioned that if you don't like MM should probably pass on this one.
My tasting notes were...who am I kidding, I'll never see this release. Thank God Maker's has many other releases for the peasants.
Yep!!!
Me too!
I almost landed one earlier this week. I was 10th in line but the store only had 3 on the shelf when they opened the doors 😥 just the simple fact i seen it on the shelf was impressive.
Here here!!
I am a peasant and actually got one for retail at TW!
Congrats!!!
I’d pay retail and smile all the way home!

Great review, Jason. The hype train is real for this one, but I’m not paying those wild secondary prices for an annual release.
Other than the first ever release of an annual generally skyrocket in value
Im just not enough of a makers fan to go after this one. Im sure its good, but ill go for some c923 instead
I was lucky enough that my name was picked and I got to purchase this at retail here in MA
Noticing the cedar ridge distillery shirt!! Thank you for supporting my local distillery.

Its reasonable if you see that people are already asking $400 +on the private market. Glad i grabbed two from Sydney airport last month...
I really appreciate that intro. Cheers!

2 C923 hands down

thanks for the review. You should try comparing the Standard Cask Strength versus the Cellar Aged to get a true comparison at similar proofs.
Ima get two of these, because I only got 1 from the 2023 wood release and im not going to sleep on this one through.
Where did you get yours ? I got two bottles from Sydney airport last month :)
Looking forward to trying this one, hope I find it
Of course i got one
Dude!!! Will be hunting this bad boy! Thanks for a great review Jason.
Another solid review, appreciate your work. Really enjoy Makers, will be looking for this, but out over $250. It’s the first release…
Your documentary of your private pick (or tour?) at MM was amazing video. 💯
At $150 it’s a pass for me. I doubt I’ll like it more than Knob Creek 12 year, which I can get regularly for about $60.

Yes yes. Lol. Minus the wheat funk.
I tool 5 liters of regular Makers and put it in a new charred oak 5L barrel. Figured id wait arounf 7 weeks. It should then be double oaked?
Will be buying to soon when it comes into my local shop.
You should try: Frey Ranch - Uncut Unfiltered.
Any updated review? Wondering how it may have opened up over time... Thanks!!
Another good channel actually liked Maker's Mark regular release over Remus Gatsby in a blind!
Curiosity Public
Appreciate your review and clear headed views on this. I’m sure it’s good, but not $450 good.
Can't wait try this. Living in Oregon, could get lucky and we pay MSRP.
I can get it shipped to your doorstep mate if you’re interested
Nice one, hoping to grab a bottle…and another bottle of MM101!

Not on this release. 20,000 bottles for the US and 10,000 bottles for the rest of the world.

I just paid $30.99 for the 101. Not sure I would pay 5 times as much for cellar aged
I am on the hunt.
Can you pleae review the new 2023 michter toasted rye want to see if its worth buying!
Not sure why they worry about the taste vision so much. To me that went away when they started the 46 and private select lines.

this just dropped in German onlineshops for 140-150€ which is roughly $130-140
For people like me that can afford secondary prices I firmly denounce the hypers (you know who you are!).
So whwn will it come to ontario canada

Well I'm not going to be buying this anytime soon knowing this is the price
