The Legacy of Kain Series was in danger of being forgotten but recently alot of people seem to be talking about it again and I couldnt be more happy its such an amazing series that deserves alot of love
There's always rumblings of a remaster or some kind of series restart but recently it really does seem like more people have been celebrating this classic and sharing their love for it. The GoG release really helped I think.
Out of all the LOK games, I feel this is the one that has aged the best, as the faults are mainly with load times and graphics, the others usually have camera or other control issues.
This game was so unique in the time it came out in. This was back in a time when developers would take risks. I know people always say to play the game despite the gameplay, but I find this game quite fun to play, maybe it’s because I grew up with it. Great video!
Just a little nitpick: When we visit Malek's bastion we see Malek's decomposed corpse on a throne, it's no skeleton, just a corpse. Then we visit the depths of Avernus cathedral, and in the room where we pick up the wraith armor we see that it is the exact same room where Mortanius bound Malek's soul to his armour, we also see a sieleton chained in the exact same way Malek's one was. This begs a question: is the corpse on the throne in Malek's bastion the real body of Malek?
Nice work on the video! However, there are some issues - Ariel is not a Scion of Balance. Kain is the only Scion of Balance in existence. Kain visits Spirit Forges, not Blood Forges (even though you sacrifice blood, not souls). I´d like to point out the mispronunciation of several names (notably Ziegstuhrl, Nupraptor, Avernus, Janos Audron) which was a bit jarring. Also, Elzevir is described as a doll maker, not a toy maker. Good effort overall!
Great video. The story is amazing. The gameplay doesn't look so fun, imo. I'm glad there are creators who remember the good old days of gaming, so many forgotten classics.
I already have many video game channels subscribed to, and wasn't really looking for more... but the polish, the work put into this one, the love for the source material and the dedication... I can't not give it a sub.
Your experience with Legacy of Kain mirrors my own! Blood Omen was the third game I played in the series after the Soul Reaver games. I had to get it on eBay after bidding like a bastard for it. While I enjoyed it, it weren’t my favourite. But I respect it and the work Silicon Knights did cause it created one of my favourite pieces of fiction ever!
It's really cool to find a channel like this before it gets huge! You have great writing and narrative skills, this is a fantastic review and it really does the game more justice than most of the others I've seen. Fantastic work, I look forward to checking out the rest of your videos. Subscribed!
I'm not sure if I just want the series to come back via an upscale remake (ala RE 2 remake) or if I just want the story to end in anyway possible (Like Amy Henning to just write down the story in a novel series.) I'm gonna be real, I really only care about the story, and that I really don't care about the gameplay in the Legacy of Kain games.
I think at this point it would be better to use the world rather than the story. Continuing the story now would alienate new players or at least require a massive primer movie. Maybe a game set 1000 years after defiance with a a new character and story. Then the events of the original series can be introduced as legends. That would pave the way for Kain and Raziel to return later on.
I always wanted to try this series but didn't want to skip the first game and at the same time it looked so bad that I thought I was just gonna suffer through it. Last week I started it and it took some work but soon it clicked and I became obsessed with it, what a masterpiece.
I was trippin so hard on hallucinations when I 1st played the 1st soul reaver . I wasn't sure what I was seeing was real when I saw Raziel in the abyss in the opening cut screen. I miss my childhood😢
I played The Legacy of kain Blood Omen 2 and Defiance briefly on xbox that I borrowed from a friend. I do however vividly remember watching my dad play Soul Reaver and I played Mortal Kombat. I actually mixed both games in a dream I had as a kid where Raziel participated in the tournament and killed Shang Tsung then threw him into a pit of lava haha.
@@SomeRandomsGuy oh yeah for sure. Given the following the game has and the resurgence in pixel art from the indie scene it would go down a storm. Maybe even a pixel remaster with smoother animations and an option to play classic or updated.
Love it! And now is the perfect time to do it. Look at what they done with Castlevania symphony of the night. Re-released with an amazing Nexflix animated cartoon. Nothing stopping them doing the same thing here

I only played Soul Reaver years ago on the Dreamcast, but I always find myself watching lore videos. The story is timeless to me

It is still to the day one of the most unique games. In a time filled with copy paste open world crap and barely any story at all.

Awesome video. Legacy of Kain is the most important game series of my life and the reason for many of my decisions and interests.
Just looking through the comments on these videos I can see just how much its affected so many people.

The story is definitely the highlight and carries the simple mechanics a long way. It's still a lot of fun to play though.

Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen will always be a cult game. A 2D classic.
