@Iva Naletilic if you have an old totem and a cheap styrofoam cooler . Just place the styrofoam cooler inside the tote and fill with straw the void between the two cut a hole in the side of the tote and the cooler so the cat can get inside. Very cheap and effective way. I'm sorry kiddo. Any large plastic box that is large enough to fill with straw or something for it to stay warm in will do.

Cats don't need anything but a little roof and a LOT (i mean, a hell of aLOT) of food, trust me.
I had a cat called Wiskass, that cat was a litteral legend, he was given to us by a rancher, living on a ranch, where he was used to hunt rodent, he knew nothing else than being outside all year long in a shed with horses. Im from Québec and winters can get below -35 celcius, he did come inside home so we can pet him but he would return right back outside, because he wanted to, otherwise he would get mad (i mean real mad) and proceed to produce the strongest meow i ever heard (still to this day, kinda sounded like a serval but he wasn't a serval at all, he was just really a strong meower lol).
That cat got attacked by dogs and fox (yes, i reacted i would never let my cat get beat by any other animals), but the thing was that, Wiskass didn't needed me at all, i saw that cat beat up some pitbulls (who deserved it for tresspassing on HIS territory which he protected real hard by hidding in tall grass lol) even fox who tried to eat Wiskass were getting their ass wooped and i mean, REAL BAD. This cat was the Chuck Norris of cats.
    Now....
    **Beware sensitive people***
One day Wiskass came home with a hole in the neck, probably some other cat that been in a fight with Wisk must have slit him neck, but he wasn't bleeding, my mother being a nurse, thanks my lord!!! She sterilized the wound everyday, for 4 years.
Yes, exactly, Wiskass lived with a hole in his neck for 4 years, still going outside to protect his territory, kicking a** like the King he really was, no doubt about that, other cats were scared of tresspassing his territory, even trash panda were scared of Wisk.
Also, Wisk had a really alpha way of walking, kinda like a muscular pitbull would lol.
He was heavier than he should be for his size, but that was no fat my friend, those were pure muscles!
Still waiting for the day i'll find Wiskass 2.0
I want him back, he was the best cat EVER, sure everyone say this, but that was no regular home cat, that was Wiskass, a name to be remembered as the most notorious cat warrior that earth must have known.
Btw Wiskass never been agresive, he did not attack animal that didn't attack him or tresspass his territory, i could sleep with my head on him and he didn't gave a single F, he started to purr actually!!!
That cat was like a big brother for me. Saved my a** from the neighbors dog who tried to bite my face..
I'll never forget you Wisk ❤️
Hope your getting all the ham you want in heaven (was his favorite food).

Wiskass sounds like a freakin badass. I have an outside cat named Arthur Morgan, that dude is muscular as hell and beats everything up but he's also the biggest sweetheart. We tried to take him in but he sprayed everywhere and was anxious so we took him back to his home close to my family's neighborhood. He's survived two of the freeze overs that we had in Texas, which I'm sure isn't comparable to Canada winters lol. When we go in that area he always pops out of the woods to say hello

For a cat house it’s a great idea to get a old or thrifted cooler and saw a hole into it and add heating pads! I did this with my cats and used a old car seat heater that we don’t use anymore. I like pine shavings much better than straw. Straw is dusty, it can also mold and it is hollow so a lot of times insects like mites will get inside it then on your animals.

Good to hear!!! Also if you run into that problem again try spraying the shelter with scent killer to take away your human scent which gets on there from building it (especially if you sweated). They sell it at Walmart and is often on clearance....well it is here in the Appalachian Mountains cuz they overstock it for hunters

I have a question and I hope someone can answer it for me.
At the stables, there was suddenly a cat. She was hunting the fields for mice but now that it gets colder, I am afraid there are not a lot of mice. I feed her some catfood. We have an open barn with a big stack of strawbales. It is completely closed, but from the front side, it is completely open. I have seen her sleeping on top of the strawbales. She also digs holes in a haypile. We also have a few stables which are not being used anymore, but that the cat can enter by walking under a fence.
The stables are not mine. I just take care of the horses and buy catfood for her. She cannot go inside a house, but there are multiple barns, stables or paddocks she can hide from wind and rain.
Today I also saw that she digged a hole in the strawbale.
The winters here are mild (Netherlands). Snow is common but only a few days a year. Will she be fine if she can hide from the wind and rain and dig holes in the strawbales?
Also no one is looking for her. I already checked that.

@juliet J, the cat is very lucky to have found such an abundance of straw and you!!! That's like the best scenario for helping a homeless cat you could ever have, all the materials one would use to build a shelter are already there in spades! The homeless cat I try n help lives (was dumped there as a tiny little kitty) in a Bog (swamp) so I had to build a shelter on the bank at a crazy annoying incline that has the swamp at the bottom. I only can spend a few min every morning working on it cuz it's like 50 feet away from a playground and when people see a random guy pull up dressed like he's going hiking in winter and quickly sneak off in the woods while holding random bags as they are pushing their children on a swing...they tend to call the police! I've had to explain myself to 2 officers already but they actually thanked me for being a good citizen after I show them the cat food n stuff I'm carrying. Tweakers sell drugs around that park so I totally understand, that's why I carry pepper spray everywhere even though I'm a muscular and somewhat intimidating man. I'm hating myself for not building better shelters while it was still warm, but I'm doing what I can, I still have my personal cat I have to tend to as well 😈😎😇

I keep seeing cat paws ALL around my house!!! well at least it looks like a cat paw, and the walking prints are just like cats walking in thick snow!
My grandma likes to feed stray animals. I'm feeding this cat celery because I don't really have any food cats eat.
I put them out there, the box was open though, and small with a small blanket.
I cant use a bin because I only have 1 bin, which is my dads for cloths.

Where I live there's a busy street and there's a large field with wild life and a blind spot .. where cars wouldn't notice a cat in road until it's too late... I've v already buried two of 5 the cats that I had been feeding for months. Trying to earn their trust and at same time.. Not creating attention or situations where other large arimals will be prompted to go after them.. and my block is filled with large dogs. Pits and they have gotten lose and chased me upstairs.. And ran up on patio. They had no fear of me.. As I became hysterical.. Hear beating fast.. I'm fifty and it's a bit much. The owners need to be proactive .. And accountable for being irresponsible.. anyways to bury two of the four babies I was feeding and another for baby that was just left there in the street. Then another one.. it's kind of traumatizing and heart breaking.

They were supposed to change the chemical structure in Anti-freeze so it smelled BAD to cats so they won't drink it anymore!!! I heard they did but I guess it's just wishful thinking. I have a pet cemetery and one of the cats in there was poisoned (we think by Anti-freeze) and it was an AWFUL way to go!!! We had to rush him to the vet to get put to sleep, it was so so so bad and I hope no one ever has to go through that! I'm trying to build some shelters for homeless cats at the wetlands park. I've been feeding an orange tabby since it was a little tiny kitty and he's about 7 months now and HUGE!! I went to put hand warmers wrapped in socks into his makeshift home (sticks n rocks put together to create a tee-pee like structure that I put lots of towels n shirts in to help insulate it but I have to make something better) and there was 2 new cats there now, so I gotta up my game and I'm mad at myself for waiting till winter instead of doing it months ago....but I'm trying.

Please don't use blankets. They get wet and will freeze. Use straw instead to make it nice and snug

    • @davidmorningway6025
      @davidmorningway6025 3 роки тому +1

@sand dune, usually the shelter kept dry but I didn't take into consideration that they sometimes come in wet already, plus the shelter DID get wet on monsoon like weather. I'm going to buy straw but since I had only $5 in my bank account I found some rubber dish mats, the ones with holes that you use to let dishes dry on. I gutted out all the wet blankets and lined the floor with about 3 black trash bags and then put about 2 or 3 layers of the rubber dish mats. This doesn't let ANY water stand or pull really. I did it JUST in time cuz it snowed that night. I put some hand warmers in socks, tied them and put 2 in the shelter to keep him warm. I didn't have warmers last night but the shelter is at least mostly wind proof and dry. I'm cutting a storage container as we speak and need to go buy straw (not hay) but it's a small container and I want to buy some better ones, but it will do for now. Thank you for your advice, if you ever have more I'd love to hear it. I need to find an organization to help me pay for food n shelter but I'll do the best an unemployed fitness expert can do. The cats literally live in a Box (swamp or wetlands) so there environment isn't the most hospitable. But I've bought food and fed him and now 2 others occasionally for over 3 months now and now that I know they exist I cannot stop helping. The cat I help was literally just a little kitty who someone dumped in the swamp to die. I live in the Appalachian Mountains of N.C. so swamps are actually RARE and at least this one is government protected but I want to give them a fighting chance. If the cat wasn't a 2 month old kitten I probably wouldn't have been so adamant about helping but he was SO small!! He looked just like Milo in the beginning of Milo n Otis. He would have died for sure, but he is very big n strong now because I've been overfeeding him every day cuz sometimes other animals get his food. God bless 😈😎😇

Check for heated bowels at the store, really any animal store or diy store almost all has heated bowels. At least in kansas they do and mine was only 20 dollars and works like a charm :)

I would suggest using a cat specific heating pad. They make ones that are self heating, they will only heat up when sat on. Plus, they won’t harm the cat. Just make sure there is space around it so they can not sit on it if they choose.

    Ongiちゃん の家が 取払われました .
真冬に Ongiちゃんに 外で 寝 さ せました.
    露宿は すごく 大変でしょう. 😭
It's only the size of a ramen box by just about any measure.
    Not any bigger than that.
But why on earth did a ramen box -sized cat house have to be torn down during the coldest season of the year ?
Was the apartment complex too confined to afford a very tiny fraction of it to an innocent poor stray cat who caused no harm to its surroundings?
Was it because Ongi was hygienically so challenged by any chance in the COVID-19 era that they had to decide to amend their COVID safety protocols on the fly when there had been no reported cases of human infection from feeding stray cats?
Ongi , who was first spotted last winter in front of my apartment ,
had , without a hitch, settled down in my complex. Alas!😭
With little idea what might lie ahead of her , I hope at least a strong winter storm packing heavy snow won't rip through wherever the cat is..
And at least feeding must go on !😓

The best tip is, don't have outdoor cats. Keep your cats inside where they are safe and warm. If you want to take them outside then walk them like you would a dog. If you're an adult and you don't want cats inside your home, then don't get a cat to begin with.
