Was the cat fixing to call an ambulance for you if you needed it? You are aware that as soon as you die and that cat notices that you're dead the cat will start eating you? Dogs on the other hand will wait till they're dying of starvation IF they'll even do it. Cat? Naw that mf'er is waiting for you to stop breathing so it can start eating you.

I just have a question for you... Do you have a hatred for cats? Did you know
Cats and humans evolutionarily diverged from a common ancestor (boreoeutherian ancestor) approximately 80 million years ago, accumulating only 10-12 chromosomal translocations.[68] The order of eight genes on the cats' Y chromosome closely resembles that in humans.[69] Genes on X chromosomes of cats and humans are arranged in a similar way. A 2007 study revealed that 90% of human and cat genes are homologous, meaning that they were inherited from a common ancestor. Do you know how genetically close your feline is it to you? You may have thought that dogs would be a little closer to humans on the evolutionary scale, but it turns out that cats actually have 90.2% of the DNA in common with us! You read that right! A 2007 study found that about 90% of the genes in the Abyssinian domestic cat are similar to humans. The cat and human genomes each contain approximately 2.5-3 billion base pairs. Yes! According to Teresa Manucy, DVM, a veterinarian at VCA Fleming Island Animal Hospital, cats can recognize and differentiate their name from other household pets' names. She says this recognition is likely due to positive reinforcement or a cat's association of their name with attention, food, or play. Plus Cat domestication took place in two strains, but all domestic cats have a common ancestor: the North African / Southwest Asian wildcat, Felis silvestris lybica. Other scientists have also discovered another potential instance of cat domestication. Jean-Denis Vigne studied skeletal remains of cats in China and found that there may have been a short-lived domestication of leopard cats in China, independent of domestication elsewhere (Vigne et al., 2016). However, they did not find evidence that any present day domesticated cats are related to leopard cats, so if there was a time that they were domesticated, it did not last ( Another interesting element of the history of cat domestication has to do with cat coat patterns. Analyzing the pattern of cat coats is one of the best way

Just to note: cats can have nightmares too. It's just we usually don't notice bc we don't watch them sleep. So I made my cat a spot to sleep in front of my computer monitor, so I could watch he sleeping while I work remotely. When she started shaking during her sleep I petted her and her shaking instantly stopped and she continued to sleep peacefully. It became her favourite spot to sleep super fast bc it was the only spot where she wouldn't have those nightmares 😢

my cat and I both have severe nightmares, and we’re on “cuddle duty” with each other- if I notice her having a nightmare, I’ll go curl up around her and hold her close (usually she wakes up, but sees it’s me, purrs, and then goes back to sleep), and if I’m not around when she wakes up from one on her own, she’ll use a very specific meow to let me know she had a bad dream and needs my comfort. and on the other side, if she notices that I’m having a nightmare, she’ll crawl into my arms so as soon as I wake up I see her and feel better. she’s just too precious

People like to joke that cats “own” us, think of themselves as royalty, or only respect food sources, but they are actually naturally-social creatures with huge amounts of empathy. The way they act and communicate is just different than humans and I wish people understood that more. :(

Weirdly, I don't get that. My cat pushes things off tables and desks when I'm awake, and sleeps beside me when I sleep, either by my head, or just out of reach of my feet. He seems okay with my biphasic sleep, since it's quite short intervals of about 2-3 hours (I've only needed more than 6 hours of sleep when I've been ill, I'm just a natural short sleeper). He does do a last minute zoomy before sleep though - when I lay down, he snuggles with me for a bit to get me settled into bed, then goes on a rampage for five minutes before re-joining me. After that, he's there with me through the entire sleep cycle, occasionally stirring me a bit when he gets up and swaps where he's sleeping next to me.

My cat, Domino, knew something was up and that there was stress and commotion in the house when I was getting ready to leave for uni. She’d check in on me when I was packing and gave me a send off. She also knew when my dog was dying. She’d head butt and snuggle up with my poor old lady when she clearly had only a few more days in her. Cats can be incredibly intuitive, much like dogs.

My two cats growing up would search and "capture" anyone who was in bed sick and stay with them. One year, Mom, Dad, and my two sisters and I had the flu and were all in our respective rooms. Those two furballs were jumping from room to room, bed to bed trying to take care of us all. It was so great.

If I want him to leave a room, it’s a quick gesture and a “c’mon buddy, gotta go.” and he trots out of the room with a trill.
I have also learned to understand HIS meows and gestures.
He’s not Velcro, but he’s always hanging out either upstairs under my sheets or otherwise somewhere in the same room as me.

I have maladaptive daydreaming disorder and my boy INCESSANTLY checks on me when I spend too long in it - sometimes most of the day. He meows, jumps up and pats me all over, nibbles sometimes on my arm, whines and rolls onto my body. I can get annoyed sometimes but pretty quick I just sigh and love on him in appreciation. He's a sweetheart! ❤️
Few people in my life would believe this since my boy is seen as mean, antisocial, and very intimidating. I think he's rude most of the time because he is sensitive and only has the energy to be kind if someone really needs it ❤️ That makes his kindness even more special to experience because you know he's deliberately making the choice to do it when he does! And, yes, it's usually when people seriously need emotional support. I've seen people absolutely melt and bawl their eyes out when he suddenly gets loving with them in their moments of need!

Pets are members of our communities/families, and i believe they pick jobs in their families. My grandma had a black cat named Pilgrim, and he decided i was his job. He was the shadow of my every step whenever i went up there to visit from the time i was about 2 years old. My dad even says he could tell the difference between when his car contained me and when it did not, as Pilgrim would come running up to the driveway only when I was in the car with him. Pilgrim kept little toddler me safe and kept me from getting lost on those 36 acres of wild woods, he would bat at me or taunt me until i wanted to play with him so i would stay away from the cliffs. I didn't even know there were cliffs until i was closer to 10, basically when i no longer had him to stop me. I like to think his ghost still checks in, and that's part of why my current cats get the random zoomies sometimes. They're just playing with Pilgrim.❤

lol. I had a cat who did this. My backyard was pretty much a catio. They have a cat door that they could go in and out through. There was a window included in the area that looked into the room I was usually in. He would quite often be seen looking in to see me. Sometimes he’d even come running in, sometimes meowing, run right to me, touch me, get a pat and then go back outside. Interestingly enough there were times you just KNEW he wanted me to follow, then sit outside and watch him doing whatever.

A few times, when my sister got sick in the middle of the night, I'd sleep out in the living room (we shared a divided bedroom) in my sleeping bag while Mom helped her multiple times in the night when I couldn't stay awake to help. Both times, I woke up in the morning and found our cats sleeping with me on the floor. I guess they were equally worried about her and understood why I was there (exhausted, didn't want to get sick, needed a quieter place to sleep) and slept with me to comfort me as well as comfort themselves, and to keep my temperature up so I could stay well. One of the cats never slept with me otherwise (though he did prefer a bigger bed and saw Mom as his mom since she found him as a stray kitten when he didn't even have his eyes open yet).

When my cats are outside and I'm in the living room watching TV or playing a game, the cats will every five minutes or so jump on the window to look at me, then they want me to open the window to let them in. Then they come in, look at me, then walk right back to the door and meow to be let out, and this will go on all day until nightfall when it's time for bed. Then they don't meow at the door usually. Idk why they do that, it's very annoying having to constantly open the window, but at the end of the day I love them with all my heart, and enjoy all the time I get to spend with them. Their lives are too short, and 12 or so years aren't enough. But I will be reunited with all my loved ones in heaven, and that is the only consolation I have. Both human and animal families. Together forever, with no tears, fear, or pain. Only joy forever with the Father.

    • @makeshift_battlefield_music

Cats feel like they should be able to get to and from wherever they want to. My cats dont go outdoors because my house is just 15 feet from a very fast road and also ATV trail, the sounds outside terrify them. But in the house if a door is closed that they think should be open they are unhappy. I don't always want my basement door open so its closed all the time. Sometimes they want thru the door but theyve learned it only opens very rarely and i guard it sometimes because i dont want them down there all the time. So they give up easily when they do want thru. Because your cats want to come in and out whenever they feel like it, if you comply with them everytime they will become even more frustrated if you don't let them in. I think its good to just accept it and love their little annoyances, but the truth is that if you don't want them to do that, it just means ignoring them sometimes so they will learn that the window isn't always going to open on their command every 5 minutes.

    • @tylerthegrimm
      @tylerthegrimm 2 місяці тому +2

@makeshift_battlefield_music Yeah, I know, and I guess I should be firmer with them, but I can't help it. They have fun going outside, and we live in the country, so I just deal with it. When the mosquitoes aren't bad, I leave the windows open for them so they can mosey about at their own leisure. I used to never think I'd like cats until they all just wandered onto my property and never left, so I adopted the four of them, I felt so bad for them not having a home, that I just kept them. It's been like that my whole life, I've never had to go to a pound or shelter. Animals have always just wandered in and stayed. Before, it was dogs, and now cats. Idk what brings them here. God, I reckon, but im always happy to see them come and decide to live here. My wife is a soft ass like I am, too, and she can't turn them away either, so it works out. I'm fine with the little annoyances cause I know one day I'll miss them more than anything else.

It's gonna sound like I'm making this up but I swear I'm not. One time I was sitting at my desk playing a game on my PC with a controller and I decided to take a break to grab some water, so I placed the controller on the desk and left the room. When I returned, my cat was sitting on his hind legs in my chair with his body extended upward and he was trying to put his two front paws on the face of the controller. It may have been coincidence but he's been known to imitate things he sees me do before, actually it's pretty common, he knows how to use door knobs and handles (though sometimes they're too slick or stiff for him to use he still tries) , he'll open drawers and cabinets right after I've just closed them to try and figure out what I was doing on them, and if I leave my phone unattended he paws at the screen until he gets it to light up. Like I said, it could be coincidence, but knowing him and having seen that he's particularly intelligent and curious when it comes to human activities I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to imitate what he saw me doing with the controller that day.

Yeah thats why millions of us can live together in these things called cities 🙄. Humans are among the least territorial animals on the planet.

When I am sick and start coughing my cat runs to my bed and climbs on my head and stares at me all night...it makes me laugh 😂😂😂 I started faking cough instead of calling her name.

I pet both of my cats very often. I fuss at them, but they sleep/nap with me most of the time.

Sometimes the protector thing goes both ways. Like if the cat can smell sickness on their human, they're more likely to check up on you and try to comfort you through it.

I am pretty confident that my cat is an alien, one that has been assigned to watch us incognito and this was the best disguise they could come up with. Have a look at your cats face from the right angle and see how much they look like the typical "grey" alien.

Lol! When our grandson was 😂4 ( at that time in a ‘dog’ family’i drew an ‘alien’ for him starting with the eyes, when I got to the ears his exasperated response was great!
BTW he now has a cat!

"If you keep giving them treats and affection when they pop in, they'll keep doing it. You're essentially rewarding the behaviour". You're talking like that's a bad thing, I love attention from cats!
When my family used to cat-sit a lovely cat (I may have been a tad obsessed with her), she used to pop in when we were eating dinner in the dining room. She'd come in, do a set circuit around me and under the table, and return to her living room zone. I'd also pop by to check on her when I went to get more rice from the rice cooker appliance.

We have a Ragdoll. He follows me all through the house. If I get out of his sight he comes and checks on me. I have a big furry guardian and wouldn’t have it any other way.

My cats always play lifeguard when I go to the bathroom. At least that's what I like to think. They're just making sure I don't drown in the forbidden water bowl.
