Mages is less mechanically intensive than golem, simply based on the fact you have to target click your golem active @@Archangelmd

I think the issue is that plus mage and plus golem affix are basically one in a billion to get, especially with other decent sets.
The thing I like about golem over mages is the feeling of control (since you can "place" the golem aoe). In edge cases where I need to target a barricade mob around a corner this is incredibly handy
I think this is the main reason to use golem. Control is so important

I see a variety of classes and builds being able to push Pits 100-120s and that's good. Players not looking to race to push Pits 200 can play the build they enjoy the most. I'm sure the builds that will push to 200 will be more narrow.

I think the best takeaway is that you can feel free to play Necro either way and not feel nerfed, depending on your preference.

Is 2hand scythe always better to run vs 1hand and offhand for this summon necro?
High screen shot numbers are usually only good with cheesy elixir bolt. Golem focuses all its damage on 1 monster (trash mob) and it usually dies and proc the cheesy elixir bolt multiplier. Thats why they are not in the leader board.
I've heard a lot of people including Rob talking about Shadow Mages Necro as being S tier. I personally like Golem a bit more after using Mages for while and the only reason I like golems is it feels slightly better being able to spam the golem cooldown to focus attacks, where the Shadow mages AI kind of just does what it wants to. That being said, both builds are insanely good and I do love the Mages. I'll be curious to see how it all shapes out in a week or so when we get a large enough sample size to actually see more data.

Harlequins is bad for minions since the damage comes from passives
Only 9hrs in on necro and it was pretty much all w/ minions, but I’m determined now to make a strong no minion necro. Lol
You think you could theory crazy a build with only golem that would be pretty viable? Not to push high but good enough. Because the other minions are just to frustrating to play with lol.
We need a test dummy that shows you the average dps number above the head, not just damage per screenshot.
Why do you have the "Offensive: Summoning damage" tempered on your weapon in the end game build?
I thought it would only affect active skills like Army of the Dead & Golem active.

SUMMONING DAMAGE INCREASE damage of all minions, but its rolls are lower, so if you wanna go all around with minions Summoning damage will increase daamge of golem and minions, while Mages dmg, warrior damage or golem damage will increase only those specific ones although they roll higher thats why people go all in on One minion Type

Bro, I checked and applied your build. It's good. Few moments: why you focus in armor so much and how about Shadow glyph instead of last on for 10% dmg reduction?
Plus I'm using Shadow aspect for Warriors. Shadow dmg qnd and stun instead blood mist cd

honestly people play what they want and enjoy I play a Barb thorn build and I'm having a blast with it.
Not a a great test but i did 3-3 pit tier 50 with a gear only golem dmg and paragon, and one very similar with mages, and it was almost the same time... rly wanna see if a youtuber or someone can test it properly with exact numbers...
I’d love to make a build like this but I keep getting terrible gear, and when I do get good gear it never rolls the tempers I want at a higher roll.
Thorns barb in bleed Barb have both beat these numbers out without holybolt elixir?

That's what I've been wondering. I figured I'll just wait until I reach level 100 and get all the super powerful gear that everybody has and see why they're not doing both.
the build says skill bar is army of the dead, but the explanation keeps talking about bone storm...
I Love this build ,it's so strong
Steady dps always feels much smoother to play than large hits on a cool down, not sure why everyone doesn't feel this way.
Golem damage depends on a lot of stuff to happen at the exact same time
How are mages against tormented bosses?
Would Shako work at all with mages? Or really just need tyraels might?

I'm sure you'd be able to do pit 61 for neatiron, but above that would depend on your gear.
Full set of triple greater affix gear, masterworked to 12/12, I'm sure bone minions would get to pit 100.
But it does seem much worse overall since the mages will just kill themselves

If you have a godly 2H sword you can use it, but the Scythe has a bit higher base damage

i don't think golem one shot builds are "cheesy" they are just different right ? just because it isn't your build or what you are playing .. doesn't make it cheesy. the only thing cheesy is the holy bolt elixir . i mean congrats for being first or second on something and offering something different but that doesn't make other builds or other things people created "cheesy"
Yea i agree hate wen someone calls 1 build cheesy just because its not the build they use.
The oneshot golem literally uses holy bolt of elixir, and abusing a bug that makes minions doubledip with the elixir, causing the oneshots. That's the cheesy part, not the golem itself.
And if youre referring to the non-holy bolt, no, its not cheesy.
Cheesy is the way they create builds for UA-cam. Not functional, just a big boom every 12 seconds, that is not optimal in practice, but looks good.

He's using Tyriel's Might, which spawns the elixir bolts whenever you a spell. This goes for the mages as well. Most high-end meta builds use it.
Not only damage per screenshot, Golem has better scaling from paragon nodes and glyphs allowing for very high scaling and can deal with all content super fast. With the changes of uber bosses skele mages will take much much longer to kill an uber boss resulting in some sort of problem for the player, they might die to some bullshit boss mechanic. so it's fitting that the build which one shots is always better. It's same for every ARPG

@@alhamour_1027 the minion build was fun but to use it endlessly is very boring. There's very little interaction whatsoever. I'm using a minion bone spear build right now from moba uploaded by Ruse who is a beast necro but the damage is very noticeable.
Bonespear was the Meta for Release + 3 Seasons after that and u still wanna play that :'D thats crazy bro

Man, I am kind of new and I have a question. If mages are so strong why aren't you using the "mages" glyph? It boosts skeletal mages damage 140%

Noone is talking about mages because: 1) you can control Golem AI with activation skill, you can't control other minions as easily, 2) Most mages planners I see require very specific + "ranks of xxx" which are bothersome to get and don't adapt well to other builds while golem only needs the roll on chest (and amulet, but that's the same exact roll as if you were playing mages).
It's a lot more effort in gear selection for less overall control while piloting and similar results. Definitely an option if you happen to find the correct pieces, otherwise not worth it for me,

“Damage per screenshot” popularized by insecure Genshin players. Dots are usually more consistent, but little-man complex energy always gets clicks.
Edit: Golem is WAAAAY tankier and more chill for higher runs though, I see why it’s played.

builds without using blood mist are just simply looking for that 1 single perfect run for them to upload, its far less consistent of actually wanting to clear the pit

Why is nobody covering mages? Because in ARPGs and specially in this game, once something becomes popular people seem to dismiss everything else, without even testing. I knew golem had that wow factor of doing insane damage per hit but on a non-cd based scenario where damage is sustained Mages would win, as they have been doing ever since the game was launched.
